Hour glass during background process is going on

Hi
We are running some custom JSPs in R12.1.3.
While the end user is running a process using custom JSPs and if it connects to database for further processing we want to show end users with a hour glass image instead of blank image
We have code written for it but it does not in R12 but works in 11i.
Could you please let us know if anyone has similar requirement?
Thanks for your help

Is there any framework you are using? Is this happening across which browsers exactly?
Are there any javascript errors? warnings?
Assuming you are using a methodology similar to this one:  javascript - Wait cursor over entire html page - Stack Overflow you can also use an image with an animated gif file, so when processing is finished and there is a redirect to another page, the user has the impression that processing is going on.
In any case, need more details to tell with more certainty.
Thanks,
Gustavo

    Did you tried by removing and re-inserting the battery? If that don't work for you then take the phone back to your carrier and ask for replacement.

  • Error during background processing which is created by Std.program RFBIBL00

    Hi Gurus,
         I am using standard program RFBIBL00 to generate batch session for the Tcode FB01.
         My BDC is working fine , if i choose  foreground or display error only option in SM35.But when i process the same session in
         background it is giving error  Field BSEG-DMBTR does exist in SAPMF05A 0302.
                                 One more thing i want to point out when i process the session in forground or in display error only option
                      there i am getting information message Field BSEG-DMBTR does exist in SAPMF05A 0302. But for background due to same message  i.e (Field BSEG-DMBTR does exist in SAPMF05A 0302)  session processing is failed.
                                    Actually through ZProgram  data being uploaded  to application server. Then i am executing std. program RFBIBL00 to generate session.And  when i go to SM35 & choose the just created session for background processing,then processin i failed.
                              We have recently upgraded from 4.7 to ECC 6.0. Previously RFBIBL00 program is working fine but after upgrade it is not working.

  • User exit during VF04 background process

    Hi ,
    I am creating billing through the background run of VF04.
    Before a billing document is created I have to check the following condition.
    If the payment terms of the relevant billing item not equal to 'X' then system shoudl check the billing date and only create billing document if the date is equal to system date.
    If the payment terms is equal to 'X' then billing document should be created.
    I am plannign to use the userexit RV60AFZC and in there
    FORM USEREXIT_FILL_VBRK_VBRP
    I tried to find out of this user exit was called during background processing of VF04 by putting ina breakpoint. It did not give any pop-up.During creation of billing through VF01 it gave me the breakpoint.
    I want to know if for my requirement this is the right place to put the logic.
    Regards
    BGS

    Hi ,
    We had to change the logic and the user exit because it was not possible to pull the item level data into the VF04 screen.
    We are trying to do the following with variant which looks for all billing items due in next 5 working days
    Before system gets data from VKDFS into VKDFIF we are trying to aplly the logic
    If Payment terms <>  direct debit the include in the list VKDFIF
    If Payment terms <> direct debit
    Check  IF Billing date <= system date
    Yes -include in VKDFIF
    No- Remove entry
    When I call the variant in try to display the billing due list It shows the correct value
    But when we run the same variant in backgorund it fails
    BADI used
    Include LV60AA93
    Badi badi_sd_billing methode:vbrk_vbrp_fill
    CALL METHOD l_sd_billing_item_exit->vbrk_vbrp_fill

  • Background process going to " abap/heap limit"

    Hi All,
    When i check the trace file of the workprocess which is a background process it shows that the
    " WP has reached abap/heap limit"
    Does this trigger the dialog process into PRIV mode? or is it OK for a background process to reach the heap limit.
    Please advise.
    Best Regards,
    DVRK

    Hi Ramakrishna,
    The trace you are seeing is for the background process  and is no longer related to dailog process.
    Some times we can see the abap/heaplimit issues due to background jobs running parallely on the same host.
    When the abap/heaplimit reaches max. the job gets cancels
    Try to trigger the job on low load instance
    (or).
    If this occurs on a regular basis. Try to find out the jobs which are failing and tune them accordingly
    (or)
    Take the help of Basis in fine tuning the abap heap memory parameters.
    Hope I answered your query.

  • Postprocessing - background processing - Still running!!!

    Hi All
    I think I am having a small problem with this task 'Postprocessing - background processing' during the Postprocessing Phase. Basically on previous runs, this task has finished quite quickly however during this next run it is taking hours. I have restarted this phase and it does not seem to finish.
    I have checked SM66 to see if anything is running and there is nothing there. All of the other processes have finished successfully, just not sure about this one.
    Has anyone had this issue before or can you give me an insight to what it is doing?
    Thanks in advance

    "Postprocessing - background processing" is not actually a task, it is there only to group the sub-tasks (from "Transfer of Number Range Intervals" to "Change Logical System Names"). When you execute it, it will run all the sub-tasks (in the Standard View this complexity is hidden, so you don't even see there are sub-tasks).
    If the sub-tasks are all Complete then there is nothing left to do. It is normal that there is no State icon for that grouping task, or that Progress is 0. If you execute it again you are running all the sub-tasks once again (you probably received a pop-up to confirm that's what you wanted). In that case, the column "Exec No" in the sub-tasks probably shows that some were executed more than once (some are repeatable and some are not).
    Hope this helps,

  • Using ServletContextListener for background process in tomcat, problems?

    Hi, I am building a web app using mojarra 1.2, hibernate 3.2, mysql 5 and tomcat 6. Currently, there's a need to run a background process every hour to:
    1) query the database
    2) process information
    3) send emails to (big) list of individuals when matched
    4) update database
    5) must happen during business hour
    For now, my approach to this problem is to hook a Timer object inside a class implements ServletContextListener. So that every hour during business hour will process the steps above when Tomcat started until someone shut down shut down Tomcat or when it crash (hopefully that won't happen).
    I read a few articles, they claimed this is not a good approach because in a managed environment, background thread like this won't be in the scope of the container.
    Due to certain reasons, we can't deploy this part as a separate daemon (e.g: jsvc) yet. We'll need to wait for few other things to occur before can we deploy a full daemon services.
    The question for this post is: What are some of the potential problems we will be dealing with when running background thread like this in tomcat? What are some of the things we'll need to watch out for before real problems arise (e.g size of db connection, # of concurrent process, etc) what are some other pitfalls other experienced when deploying background thread in tomcat?
    We hope this solution will be able to handle what needs to be done until our daemon service is ready.
    Thank you for your opinions

    You can try this.. Which gives more grip... in making threads etc..
    Here is a class with a method that sets up a ScheduledExecutorService to beep every ten seconds for an hour:
    import static java.util.concurrent.TimeUnit.*;
    class BeeperControl {
    private final ScheduledExecutorService scheduler =
    Executors.newScheduledThreadPool(1);
    public void beepForAnHour() {
    final Runnable beeper = new Runnable() {
    public void run() { System.out.println("beep"); }
    final ScheduledFuture<?> beeperHandle =
    scheduler.scheduleAtFixedRate(beeper, 10, 10, SECONDS);
    scheduler.schedule(new Runnable() {
    public void run() { beeperHandle.cancel(true); }
    }, 60 * 60, SECONDS);
    }

  • RAC instance won't start: ORA-00443: background process "VKRM" did not star

    I've logged a SR with Oracle, but while waiting for response from them...I'm stumped I can't find more out here about this article.
    On Oracle knowledgebase...any search for VKRM, gives about the same 3 articles relating to RDA (Remote Diagnostic Assistant).
    Not sure what went on here.
    I have a 5 node RAC cluster. All other instances seem to be running just fine.
    On one instance...some applications were getting an error like:
    ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
    I looked in GRID...and it indicated that only two of the 5 nodes had this instance running...which was strange in that with srvctl, it showed ll 5 up and running:
    [oracle@server2 bin]$ ./srvctl status database -d INSTANCE
    Instance INSTANCE1 is running on node server1
    Instance INSTANCE2 is running on node server2
    Instance INSTANCE3 is running on node server3
    Instance INSTNANCE4 is running on node server4
    Instance INSTANCE5 is running on node server5
    Anyway, thought I'd poke around. I started with trying to get srvctl to stop instance #2...in GRID it seemed that instance 2,4 and 5 weren't working.
    srvctl stop instance -D INSTANCE -i INSTANCE2
    This just hung...
    I thought I'd cycle all the nodes...so, did a ctl-c out of that one, and did:

    I get similar messages when I try to restart.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
    Ok..have been on phone with Oracle support, and have them stumped so far.
    I've checked..other instances are running (except one other that failed to cleanly shut down with srvctl and same error messages).
    I've check...ASM is running on all 5 nodes. I've used crsctl to check CRS on all nodes..clustering seems ok.
    Memory while somewhat high...should have enough room...the system has never complained before, and this has been up on this config for over a year.
    I was able on node one...to fire up the first nodes instance using the pfile there...it came up. I started it restrict..and promptly ran a datapump export, and then shut back down.
    While Oracle support is going through logs and trace files I sent...I've got another 11Gr2 environment (3 node RAC) I've been using as a test environment...and am recreated the instance there temporarily to allow my developers to test and get past the upcoming deadline.
    But, I'm still puzzled as to the solution on the main cluster. This seem to be normal, except these two instances....
    any ideas on where and what to look for?

  • Concepts about Archieving process and Check point Background process

    I am still going through Oracle Architecture and presently on the background oracle process. I got struck about the function of Checkpoint process and how archieving process occurs. Any inputs from my friends here will be highly appreciated.

    916438 wrote:
    I am still going through Oracle Architecture and presently on the background oracle process. I got struck about the function of Checkpoint process and how archieving process occurs. Any inputs from my friends here will be highly appreciated. Checkpoint is an act of cleaning the dirty blocks from buffer cache to disks in order to make fast recovery(if happens) if crash happens. Having said this, this process will make sure that oracle has to recovery minimum numbers of dirty block on instance recovery phase. So there is periodic flushing of dirty blocks from buffer cache to disks. In this periodic time CKPT process will post to DBWR process to write out the dirty blocks to disks. This is basically called the incremental checkpointing.
    In incremental checkpointing oracle will keep the record of most oldest block in controlfile and from this block (which is also called RBA), oracle will start recovering dirty blocks.
    There is also a full checkpoint in oracle which happen when redolog switch
    Now coming to archiving: An archive log is a copy of redo log files, it includes the sequence number and redo entries. Whenever there is a log switch (redo log files gets filled in circular fashion), then arch process will start archive filled redo log file. So during this process arch process will read the filled redo log files and make the copy of it in archive file. LGWR cannot write this filled redo file until ans unless arch process completes copying of redolog entries to archive log file.
    Archive log files are required for recovery if in future we wish to recover database during media/datafile/controlfile failure.

  • Background Processes cause delays

    Hi --
    First off, I want to state that I've spent hours looking over info about this topic in both the Adobe Forums and at the Creative Cow forums. So I finally think I have a handle on what's going on...but the situation still hasn't improved. I need some quick answers here or I'm going to toss my computer out the window.
    Here's the problem:
    Whenever I RAM preview, the AE info panel ALWAYS says "Background Process Status Loading Projects..." It does this no matter what. This can often take ten to fifteen seconds. It's a major time-killer. I have tried multiple configurations in the Memory & Multiprocessing prefs and I always get this problem. What gives?
    It should be noted that my project file is large (40MB). I still get this message in smaller project files, but it stays up for less time (often only a few seconds).
    How can I fix this?
    P.S. Another annoyance is that the project always saves whenever I RAM preview. Another time-killer.
    Thanks!
    Here's my Computer:
    Mac OS X 10.6.2
    2 x 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
    Here's my AE Memory & Multiprocessing prefs:

    This also drives me CRAZY!
    Especially with big 'projects'.
    It halts the system for about 30seconds (and I'm on a 12core with 48gb ram!)
    I really dont understand Adobe. You make great stuff but do you ever test it yourself?
    If you are a programma, and you encounter  this in a production, you will go mental.
    Same for the rendering in Multicore, and suddenly for no reason (or some plugin is singlecore only) the rendering drops to 1 core, the system because unusable. Everything stalls, the rendering takes ages! This happens on 4 macpro's with all latest SL and AE updates!
    Still the same old problems like CS4. Please make it better!

  • CC background processes are locking my CPU since updates for CC 2104 released

    Two hours with Apple points to background processes of Creative Cloud consistently locking up my iMac CPU around 5 min and 45 secs after booting up.
    Issues stated last week Thursday after updates released, progressed Friday to the point of not being able to perform any tasks on my workstation after the 5:45s time window.
    Attempted to upgrade CC apps to 2014 and was able to get CC Illustrator 14 installed but CC Photoshop 14 fails around 42% everytime I try. Have not updated any other apps (indesign, etc).
    Have seen mention of others having same CPU lock up now.
    Tried phone support - discounted when transferred to a busy signal after 17 min and two operators.
    Can NOT work this way - need answers.

    Anthony,
    IMHO, locking by task id is not advisable because effectively you are going to allow only one instance of the task type to execute at a time. What if an instance of the task has different materials?
    If you still want to play with your idea, the code below in your object method will get the current task id.
    DATA:
      workingwi       type swc_object,
      TASK            type SWWWIHEAD-WI_RH_TASK.
    swc_get_element container '_Workitem' workingwi.
    swc_get_property workingwi 'WorkitemTask' task.
    Cheers,
    Ramki.

  • Hour glass problem

    I am able to change the cursor to the Hourglass prior to a long running process like so :
    setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor (Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR));
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().sync();
    Problem is that the cursor reverts to it's default state when the cursor is moved off the Applet or I switch to another application. This gives the impression that the background task has finished, when it hasn't.
    Please can anyone tell me how to prevent this.
    Hopefully simply as I'm only just a starting out Java programmer !
    Thanks
    Rajesh

    Are you actually sure that the cursor must be an hour-glass when it is not over your application?
    In my opinion, the cursor should express the state of the application that you are using and not the state of the system and all of its applications as a whole.
    That said, I am not sure that a Java application can take control over cursors in other applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, if you are running Windows).
