Houston...we may have a problem...

Work I did to day in PPRO CS5 does not seem happy  to "work" properly since I did the update to 5.0.02 late in the afternoon.
Basically ...I have a whited out screen and no control of the UI.  Project is P2 mxf , 720p source dominated, plus psd graphics
This is an early alert and I will re-start it again in the morning to try and give more info. if  it does not resolve by itself ( after resting)
I go to bed tonight hoping its an "abberation" ( and also if there is a way to roll back the update if required)

CAUTION:  A word of caution:  If you look closely at the manual download page for Adobe which I have attached the link below for the electronic version it says that it applies to DVD installations of Adobe Premiere Pro only.  Yes, it is true!  Check it out.  The same copy exists for the DVD download and the electronic download.

I was about to do the manual download for the electronic installation last night and at the last minute I noticed that even the electronic download version says:  "This update applies to DVD installations of Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5 only."
I saw it at the last minute and didn't do the manual download because suspicious as I was I couldn't tell if that was a really bad typo or the wrong download files were factually put up by Adobe.  Someone could possibly answer that from Adobe?  It needs to be checked out and verified.
So I did the update using the automatic update from Premiere Pro instead and it went just fine.
In fact, I have experienced a terrific improvement over the previous version such that the lag when clicking in and out of the application was reduced from 40 seconds to only a few seconds.
However, not at first.  At first I didn't see any improvement and we nailed it down to having to UNINSTALL AVS software.  It doesn't matter whether you turn it off or not or turn off all the processes in Task Manager or Process Explorer.  Some AVS software will conflict with this release. We know of two so far.   I had to UNINSTALL it  and as soon as I did that, voila! it was dramatically improved.  Prior to that I had a few white screens too!  Check out this short thread:

Provided you got the right download, you might want to check out that  thread.  Two out of two cases were solved by UNINSTALLING AVS software as it was conflicting.

    Yes I agree... I expect your Openreach modem has died already.

    I had my Infinity installed Friday and the engineer leaves after demonstrating/connecting one computer working on the fibre broadband..... so proving your new broadband is active from that point onwards.
    My old ADSL BT broadband did actually switch from Talk Talk to BT spot on the midnight hour.
    Another thing is to keep an eye on your speed after the modem is replaced. Many people are reporting a drop down to around 21Mb.... and it looks like a struggle to get the line re-set back up to the original speed. I think Dean one of the forum mods was looking into the line re-setting problem. So if you do have a problem with your speed when you get back onto Infinity it may be worth contacting Dean.

  • May have a problem...

    Hi everyone,
    Just checking to see if anyone else is experiencing this and, whether or not I may have a potential problem.
    On a cold startup, my G5 would boot up with no start up chime. Everything seems to function normally then, a few minutes later, a kernal panic. On resets, I get the chime, and the computer is happy. This started to happen a week ago.
    I did the usual maintenance and repair permissions. AHT does not detect any problems, and there's nothing unusual in the log files.

    Since I use external powered speakers connected to my G5's optical audio port, I reduce the volume using my keyboard volume keys so there is no sound coming out of the internal speaker. If I do a restart while in that configuration, I will not hear the startup chime. That may answer the first part of your question.
    Unfortunately, it does not explain the second part of your question regarding a kernel panic, which is a more serious issue. I suggest you do a PRAM reset on your next startup by holding the Option, Command, P and R keys through at least three restart cycles, then allow a normal startup. If you have lowered your volume like I do, you probably won't hear the chime on the first cycle.
    P.S. Muting the volume does NOT have the same result, which is unfortunate since I would prefer to use the mute key to silence the internal speaker, but it silences all audio!

  • May have a problem with video card

    Hi, I recently purchased my HP Pavilion 500-205t back in September. I haven't replaced anything in it yet. I'm not sure if I really should. I recently discovered that I am unable to watch videos on Youtube. It may sound silly to ask but I've tried everything I could think of to maybe fix my problem (updating flash, java, accepting cookies, clearing cache, restarted computer, tried a different browser, changed video quality, etc). I even made sure my graphics device was up to date on my computer. Nothing works! Is it because I actually need a video card? I assumed the computer actually came with it's own decent video card. I don't know if it's even my graphic card that's the problem. I obviously know nothing about computers so please I need your help!

  • Just got my video ipod and I may have a problem

    Hey guys, I literally just got my new video ipod (80gb) and when I went to plug it in to my computer, the connector that goes into the ipod doesn't go in very easily. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but it didn't happen on my old ipod. It feels as if I'm grinding against the sides...
    If this is an issue or normal please tell me. I don't want to break the thing before I use it

    First question: try pushing in on the sides of the cable going into the iPod. If it is still difficult to connect make sure there is nothing impeding the connection in the iPod side or on the cable.
    Second question: I've used my 5th gen iPod on many flights and have not experienced the problem and there are people who have used them in the mountains. Others are reporting problems on flights. It doesn't break the iPod, it just is resetting on them and then works again on the ground. I'm wondering if some airlines are pressurizing their cabins above the 10,000 foot level.

  • After reading battery life post, I may have a problem.

    Ok reading the battery life question, I wonder do I have an issue. This is my first week of true iphone use..the first week, I played with everything all the time and the battery wouldn't last a day.
    But this week, normal usage - phone calls periodically, a few checks of safari or the weather, but not heavy usage, and I burned through the battery - at 10% by the end of the day starting off with a full charge. Charged it again last night, then didn't do anything.
    Made one 6 minute phone call this morning and battery meter has already moved down in my estimate about 10%...WTH?
    Problem or does the battery life generally suck and all the people who posted about battery life are the exceptions, not the rule?

    Thanks..I do understand the signal strength issue. I'm basically just comparing it to my other AT&T phones. While I realize there are a ton more things to drain the battery life on this phone than my RAZR, to already have the battery draining by 10% after a full charge and one 6 minute phone call in full cell coverage..nothing else is why I think there's a problem.
    What are my options when I call Apple? I mean, no genius bar dude (or dudette) is going to sit there and watch my battery manually drain..a watched pot never boils right?! So, all I can say is that x number of users on the apple support group have longer battery lives - what's my issue? That will go over well, I'm certain.

    No. You must be the genius as we are not telepathic here. You could have taken it to an authorized service provider, Apple, or some other "phone shop", or your carrier for service. That's why I asked.

  • Do I have a Problem?

    I have recently changed my cpu and video card from an AMD Athlon 64 3500/XFX 6800gt AGP to an AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800 duel core/XFX 7800GS.
    I think I may have a problem, but I'm not sure.
    Windows is very stable and quick. In device mgr. and task mgr. I see 2 cpu's. In device mgr. under Computer I see ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
    The thing is, I see no improvment in the 3DMark06 tests (except for the cpu score) and my FPS in BF2 are all
    over the place. From 99 to the 20's depending on whats on the screen.
    This is what I have done;
    Flashed the BIOS to 7025v1c.
    I have not cleared the CMOS or loaded fail-safe/optimized defaults.
    Did install AMD Dual Core Optimizer.
    Did install amd drivers for duel core. (did not unistall old cpu driver)
    Did the winxpduelcore Hotfix.
    I have not done a repair install or fresh install of winxp.
    Here are MY 3d mark scores, everything is default except for changing to repeating 3 times.Did the normal shutdown of tasks and prosesses in Task Mgr.

  • Anyone have a problem returning one with stuck pixels?

    I have about 5 stuck pixels on mine. I am deciding if I should bring it back or not. Has anyone returned it for that reason? Did you have a problem?

    hello. I am also affected by the stuck pixel issue. I have about 3 that really stand out. At first, I was very frustrated with this and I was going to take it back. After a while, I realized that, unless they are smack dab in the middle of your screen, they aren't there if you don't pay attention to them. If your screen doesn't have the negative black effect, then you shouldn't return it. Plus, Apple has a pixel policy, although I don't know it. You may have a problem if the Genius doesn't see them.

  • Updated from '08 to '09 and have had problems ever since

    I recently made a website to document my 6 months in New Zealand from the UK. I upgraded my iweb from '08 to '09 and have been having issues with Publishing. Random errors during uploads. So I did a bit of research in the discussion and found others with similar issues. The best solution was to create the site from scratch using new content. I was traveling at the time and had continuous issues with publishing the new site. So I started again when I got back to my permanent address in NZ. The new site published fine but the tabs remained red and did not change to blue(indicating I had made changes after the Upload). So everytime I try publish the site changes, it has to publish the whole site again which is less than ideal. It has now resorted to not opening properly. When I open iweb, The application opens, but no window opens. The only way in is through another ilife app. Please may someone give me some pointers. You help will be greatly appreciated!!

    Is this a MobileMe published site?

  • Would my Macbook Pro have any problems from this?

    I was using my Macbook Pro in bed and accidentally it dropped about 1 foot and 6 inches onto a carpet/wood floor. No real damage on the outside but I am worried there is damage on the inside. Also more worried because I feel like my macbook pro dies really quickly even when I'm letting it sleep. I have had it for about 3 years. Can someone help me with this?

    Your welcome! That is odd your battery is draining like that.... I am lucky enough to have never needed to bring my Macbook Pro to Apple, but I have heard it's usually a quick deal, at most I've heard it can take up to a day to get your Macbook Pro back. It really depends on the particular store's workload.... To run tests and open the case up shouldn't take more than an hour, if that, but who am I to say.... The only thing I could say about your battery is, other than it is damaged on a count of the fall, maybe there is an underlying problem? Not sure, but check out activity monitor maybe, and just check the stats for the processor and memory.... I don't know if that would give any answers, but when I may have a problem, I use the tools that are given by Apple.... Why not, it doesn't hurt, right? Probably, though it's a bad battery, or the logic board is giving you trouble, and in turn, it's not actually going to sleep, when it appears to be.... So, if the issue persists, bring to an Apple Store, or someone certified by Apple, although, it would most likely cost you, going to a non-Apple Store. What model/specs is your Macbook Pro? Maybe someone else could chime in, with some input on the battery deal. I'm sure anyone's guess is as good as mine.... Oh yeah, duh on my part, go to your system report and click on power to see what it says about your battery. (If you don't know how to get there, I'm sure you do, but I should give instructions, click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About this Mac on the drop down menu. Then when that window opens, click system report, and a new window will open. Tabs are on the left side, look for power, and click on it.) It will give you a run down of it's condition, cycle count, etc... Post the results if you like....

    iPhones purchased in the US are NOT guaranteed to work with 4G bands outside of North America.
    For what crazy reason did you purchase an iPhone in the US if you live in Greece?  If your phone needs servicing, it will have to be brought back to the US.  You cannot get that phone serviced in Greece.

    I have a user on an iMac 10.6 connected to our domain.  She uses Outlook web access for email on our exchange server.  Last week she received the following message which is randomly preventing her from sending emails.  She claims no attachment was involved in the original email when this all started.  I have not been able to look at her account as she is out of the office but maybe someone else dealt with this issue.  I realize this may not be Mac related but thought I'd give it a try.  She did say it occurred once over two days while working on a PC but it continued over the past weekend.
    If an internal user tries to send a message with infected attachment using Outlook Web Access, it may report the following error message: The action could not be completed because of a conflict with the original item. The conflict may have occurred when an existing item was updated on another computer or device. Open the item again and try making your changes. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization.
    This is because F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange has detected a virus in the attachment. If the user tries to send the message again, the message will be sent but without the attachment. At the same time a blank message with an attachment named "Attachment_information.txt" will remain in the user's Drafts folder. The "Attachment_information.txt" will contain information about the virus detected in the message.

    PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
    If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!
