  • 2014.3 -Can't apply drop shadow (or other effects) to text, however I can apply effect to shapes, Why?

I'm new to Muse, but have always been curious to try it. Today I updated to Muse CC 2014.3 after watching the "up and running with Muse" videos out on Lynda.com
I'm not sure if it's something i'm not doing correctly, but I can't apply drop shadow (or other effects) to text, however I can apply effect to shapes just fine, why?

This has to do with the way we set text to be rendered in the browser. You are able to apply a drop shadow to system fonts (which will be rasterized to an image in the browser), but currently web safe fonts with drop shadow aren't supported in Muse because we still support IE8 and IE9 -- which don't support the shadow effect for text. One sort of work around is to use two text frames, one which holds your text and one which has black coloring with opacity less than 100% applied to the text that gets set behind and offset to your text to appear as though it were drop shadow, while keeping your text live. Group them together and moving them shouldn't throw off your design too much.

  • How can I zoom in/out using my mac trackpad as it was possible in the previous version?

The way we could use our two fingers on mac to zoom in and out, please help me configure it on the new firefox

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • How can I create drop shadows with PSE10

How can I create drop shadows with PSE10 & PE10?

Layer styles let you quickly apply effects to an entire layer. In the Effects panel, you can view a variety of predefined layer styles and apply a style with just a click of the mouse.
Three different layer styles applied to text
The boundaries of the effect are automatically updated when you edit that layer. For example, if you apply a drop shadow style to a text layer, the shadow changes automatically when you edit the text.
Layer styles are cumulative, which means that you can create a complex effect by applying multiple styles to a layer. You can apply one style from each style library per layer. You can also change a layer’s style settings to adjust the final result.
When you apply a style to a layer, a style icon appears to the right of the layer’s name in the Layers panel. Layer styles are linked to the layer contents. When you move or edit the contents of the layer, the effects are modified correspondingly.
Once you choose Layer > Layer Style > Style Settings, you can edit the settings of a layer’s style or apply other style settings or attributes available in the dialog box.
Lighting Angle Specifies the lighting angle at which the effect is applied to the layer.
    Drop Shadow
Specifies the distance of a drop shadow from the layer’s content. You can also set the size and opacity with the sliders.
Outer Glow Size Specifies the size of a glow that emanates from the outside edges of the layer’s content. You can also set the opacity with the slider.
Inner Glow Size Specifies the size of a glow that emanates from the inside edges of the layer’s content. You can also set the opacity with the slider.
Bevel Size Specifies the size of beveling along the inside edges of the layer’s content.
Bevel Direction Specifies the direction of the bevel, either up or down.
Stroke Size Specifies the size of the stroke.
Stroke Opacity Specifies the opacity of the stroke.

  • How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate?

How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate? It should be noted that I also have another effect (an extrude & bevel) applied which does copy over when I paste (or create an SVG and import) into Edge Animate. Any thoughts on why the drop shadow disappears but the extrude & bevel carries over?

Which version of Illustrator are you using?
In earlier versions of Illustrator it is not that easy to apply drop shadows with spot colours.
Another reason why it's always important to tell which version of AI … well …

  • Drop shadow effect--I can't get it to stop!

So I have successfully used the drop shadow effect in PSE 6.
But I can't figure out how to disengage this effect.  I started using the clone stamp tool after I was done with drop shadow, and now all of my clone stamps have drop shadows!
I don't want no more drop shadow.  How do I get it to stop?  I've looked and looked and don't see anything obvious.  Thanks.

But there must some way to disengage those effects after you're finished using them.
They usually don't hang around.  I'm glad resetting the tool solved the issue.

  • Muse: the latest version is not allowing the drop shadow effect to apply to text

The latest version of Muse is not allowing the drop shadow effect to apply to your text. It will apply to shapes but not the text. Anyone know what has happened or how to fix it.
    Thank you very much.

Please use a System font for the text and not a webfont or websafe font. Also make sure that that the textframe fill is transparent.

  • How to achieve this specific drop shadow effect?

    Dear all,
Does anybody know how to achieve this specific drop shadow effect in InDesign: a step by step instruction, a plugin, etc?
    Regards,

    Kasyan,
I generally just use the basic feather. I draw the object with a few clicks of the pen, fill with whatever color, set the tint if desired, then use settings more or less as below.

  • How to place multiple images in batch with drop shadow effects on room backgrounds at the same position?

I want to place multiple images of hand paintings with drop shadow effects on room backgrounds to make them look as if the paintings are hanged on the room walls. I know how to do it one by one, but that takes time and I want to do it in batch at once.
I am quite a beginner for adobe photoshop CS6. I belive such an automated task is possible through 'Automated Batch' function and/or 'Create Droplet' function. Kindly share your expert opinion.

If you want to go with Batch I would recommend creating an Action of more or less these steps:
    • set the resolution to the same as the background image’s
    • change the image from Background Layer to regular Layer if necessary
    • convert it to a Smart Object
    • add a Drop Shadow Layer Style to the image (do not use Global Angle)
    • place the background image (File > Place …)
    • move it behind the image layer
    • Image > Reveal All
    • make Selection from that layer’s transparency (cmd-click its icon in the Layers Panel) and use Image > Crop
    • select and transform the image layer to fit the intended position
This would naturally work out best if the images had the same size and proportions.
For the reflection on the floor duplicate the image, flip it vertically, move it in position and reduce its opacity to maybe 10%.
Realistically you may have to hide it partially behind the pillows, a Vector Mask would be an option.

How can i apply this glowing effect in logo | ThemeForest Community Forums

I would make several copies of the original artwork.  On each copy, section the individual areas to be gradients. It looks like you have at least four gradients, both linear and radial.  It's just a matter of building each section and then reassembling each.  Not too complex, yet nice piece of artwork.

  • Fresh install of Ilustrator CS6 (64bit) can't load Drop Shadow.aip

Today I upgraded from Design Standard CS5.0 to CS6, and as I am running Windows 7 64bit I chose the 64-bit version of Illustrator.
Now every time I start Illustrator it reports "Error loading plugins. Drop Shadow.aip"; after clicking OK it starts normally, but obviously without the Drop Shadow plug-in.
Then, I open a new document, draw a rectangle and select Effect/Stylize/Glowing Edges; the first time in a session I do that, Illustrator produces a pop-up saying "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]", but on OK shows the Glowing Edges work area without problems. After finishing the Glowing Edges effect, I can then select it in that session without getting the pop-up. As Drop Shadow is in the Stylize category of Illustrator CS5 I suppose the pop-up is a side effect of the failure to load Drop Shadow.aip.
My question is, how can I get the plug-in to load properly?

    System: W7/64 Utimate, CS6
    Hello there
we ran into the same problem with Illustrator CS6 (and Bridge CS6 crashing immediately after launch) and sadly none of the above tipps could solve the problem. Here's how I solved the problem ...
The problem seems to be related to W7-UAC and permissions (at least here). Like many other in the GFX-biz i use a fast stripe-set to carry the TEMP- and TMP-folders. The environment variables therefore pointet to "TEMP => s:\temp" and "TMP => s:\tmp".
This seems to confuse the good ppl at Adobe or Microsoft.
    FIX:
    a) Make sure your user-environment variables "TEMP" and "TMP" point to the default, as set up by Windows upon installation: this can be either
    "c:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp" (which didn't exist here)
    or
    "c:\Windows\Temp"
(where "c:" indicates your system drive)
    b) If your TEMP/TMP vars point to non-standard paths, and if you are unsure, make User and System-environment vars point to "TEMP => c:\windows\temp" and "TMP => c:\windows\tmp"
    Question:
How to still use your fast stripe-set or SSD for temp-folder?
Just create "junctions" within the Windows-folder. Junctions are special links that point to different locations. To create junctions, do the following (but DO TAKE CARE, tipps are provided as is, whatever you do, you are responsible for it
    a) open an Explorer-window as Administrator (right click and select "run as Administrator"), go to your Windows-directory and delete the "temp"-folder (and the "tmp"-folder too if there is one)
    b) make sure the temp-folders on your fast drive/partition are created already
    c) open a command-window as Administrator (right click and select "run as Administrator") and type the following commands (just enter bold stuff):
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%   (press enter)
this brings you to the drive where Windows is installed on
    cd %WINDIR%      (press enter)
this brings you to the Windows-directory
Once in the Windows directory, type ... "mklink /j temp [path to your temp folder]" so in case your fast stripe-set is drive "s" and the tempo-folder therin is called "temp" you type ...
    mklink /j temp s:\temp
    d) do the same for "tmp"
    mklink /j tmp s:\tmp
Here's the setup that fixed it here ...
System and User-TEMP-variable points to "c:\windows\temp"
System and User-TMP-variable points to "c:\windows\tmp"
    "c:\windows\temp" is a junction to "s:\temp"
    "c:\windows\tmp" is a junction to "s:\tmp"
    Additional bonus:
The above procedure also fixed the crashes in Bridge CS that occured as soon as the program launched.
Really sorry for the long post, but I hope it helps someone!
And yes, you are welcome, Adobe!

  • Illustrator CS6 - Crashes when applying drop shadow

I am currently working on a mac mini with OS X 10.8.2 and version CS6 of Illustrator.
My problem is that everytime I try to preview or apply a drop shadow effect (Effects > Stylize > Drop Shadow...) it freezes.
I have done a lot of things to try and resolve this issue including quiting and restarting Illustrator. Restarting the computer. Reinstalling illustrator, which ended up being a temporary fix. I have a screen shot of the program of when I clicked on the Preview box (just insert the colorful spining wheel of death).
I also can post the Apple report if anyone whould like to see it.
Please help! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I did get it to work by deleting the .AI prefs. I will post again if it isn't a long term fix but I'm just glad that I can get back to work! Thanks Mike!
For those who might be having the same problem here's the steps I took to deleting the AI prefs:
WARNING: For those that don't know this will delete your custom unit preferences/ui settings/workspaces, etc.
    1) I got the file path for my operating system: http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
For OS X Lion users, you'll need to unhide the users' library: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20082044-263/os-x-lion-where-did-my-library-go/
    2) I just renamed and compressed the Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings Folder. I then launched Illustrator (which created a new settings folder). Everything now works for me! Hopefully, it'll work for you too.

  • SDK:  Changing drop shadow effect properties

I have a text object that I've done Effect->Stylize->Drop Shadow... on.
Using the COM SDK for Illustrator CS6, as an Illustrator.TextFrame object, how can I access the properties of this drop shadow effect?

    Hello again
    Ahhh, okay. Gotcha!
The thing is, there is no drop shadow effect to configure. If there is such an effect, it's something that is simply part of the Text Animation that has been selected.
I think the icon is a bit misleading and is simply intended convey it's not just regular text. I don't believe the intent was to convey there is a drop-shadow associated with a Text Animation. There isn't. At least not without it having been programmed as part of the animation.
Does this help you answer the question? Are you actually seeing there is a drop-shadow effect during playback that you don't like or want? If so, you will likely need to choose a different Text Animation.
    Cheers... Rick
