How can i change my apple id email address on my ipod?

i cant change my icloud email address on my 4th gen ipod, it only lets me change my password, any ideas?

Go to Settings>iCloud. At the bottom of the page is a red Delete Account button. Tap tthat and login with the other ID. It only deletes the iCloud account from the iPod.

I've spent over 3 hours on the phone/chatting to online support and none of it seemed to help as it all revolved around resetting emails etc but can't do any of it without my access to my old email. Now my phone won't take cloud because they advised to set up new apple ID and use that, but can't sign out of old one completely. Also doesn't help because my phone and laptop are set up on the old one. Thanks for the help.

I just did follow Varjak's instruction, but it refused. I was asked to enter my Apple ID's email address which unfortunately is the same as my Apple ID. I created two different passwords for each Apple ID n primary email address when I set up my I tune account in the first place, however.
I do remember my Apple ID password because I have used it every time I installed new apps, but I completely forgot my password for the primary email address because I've never used it at all! I have another email address which I actively use it for all my email. I want to change my primary email address which happened to be my Apple ID as well to the one I actively use.
Because of the explained problem, I can't log in to Icloud as I have been asked to verify by following the instruction sent to my primary email address.
I would really appreciate it if any one can help me solve this problem.

If you're trying to update an application, you need to delete it and then download it from your Apple ID. You may want to erase the internal drive and install a fresh OS.

I have the same problem. I changed my email address with itunes, & the icloud website knows it too. but the icloud on my iphone still has the old one & wont allow me to change it. I can change the password but the email address is grayed out so I can't change it. I have tried signing out via the store on my phone & back in but it made no difference. Help!! You might have to transfer purchases to your account. If its signed in on a different account. Or,
1. Go to iTunes on your iPod.
2. Click music and scroll down to the bottom on your iPod.
3. It should show the apple ID that's signed in, and press it and choose sign out.
4. Then click sign in and it should work.

If you want to change your iCloud ID to another existing ID you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account.
Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them. To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPad. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.

I have used a @yahoo email address for 10 years as my apple ID when purchasing things. The biggest problem being, that at some point, yahoo decided to delete the email account and I can't use it. I would like to use my email addresses that I actually use (@me, @gmail), but I guess I used them at some point to log into gamecenter or some other useless apple thing. I know you can change the email associated with your account, but apple is showing that my emails are already in use, so I can't use them for this purpose.

Change the email you used in "gamecenter or some other useless apple thing" then change your AppleID.

I am trying to change my email address over two devices. I can't do this though because every time I try to change it I end up changing it on one device and then can't access the other device. I then have to change my email back to what the other device has to be able to use it. Can someone please help?!
