How can I filter a column based on data in another list.

I have two lists:
List A:
Business Unit | BU Services
BU1 | Service 1
BU1 | Service 2
BU1 | Service 3
BU2 | Service 4
BU2 | Service 5
BU3 | Service 6
BU3 | Service 7
List B:
Sales Rep | Business Unit | Service
Jonny Cash | BU3 | Service 7
Kitty Wells | BU3 | Service 6
Willie Nelson | BU2 | Service 5
etc
List A is a reference list. I.e. it associates services with a business unit.
List B is a record of activities. It records what each sales rep sold. Sales reps can sell services from any business unit.
Using a drop down list to select the business unit, the service column should only display services that are related to a business unit. I.e. If BU3 is selected, then only Service 6 and Service 7 should be available.
How can this be achieved in SharePoint? It looks like something that it could easily do, however I can't get a lookup to work across lists, and I'm not sure a calculated column will do the job either.
Any ideas?

The first list (or table) is used for associations. I'm associating services with a business unit. This would work the same way with an example I found, regarding countries and states:
i.e.
Country | State
USA | Nebraska
USA | New York
Canada | Alberta
Canada | Manitoba
Russia | Crimea
Russia | Chechnya
Australia | New South Wales
etc
Then in the second list or table I could specific team members and their location:
Team Member | Country | State
Russell Crow | Australia | New South Wales
Clive Owen | USA | New York
In the 2nd table, I would select the country from a drop down (or by type ahead), and then the state column would restrict choices to states for the particular country as define in the first list, i.e. USA would show states like: Nebraska and New York, but
not Alberta or New South Wales because they belong to other countries.
I have a feeling that SharePoint can't do this, despite having the basic foundation for it. I'm not a MS developer, I'm a business user trying to put a basic app together for my boss.

How can i dynamically select columns based on the input parameter?

I have an input parameter which takes single numeric value.
Based on this value i have to dynamically select table-columns .
For eg: if i have following fields in my table :
SEM_1
SEM_2
SEM_3 and SEM_4.
And if i give numeric input as 2 , then i have to select "SEM_2" column only.
if the input is 3 then i have to select "SEM_3" only and leave the rest of the columns.

Ok here is my current situation. I have on my C: drive about 20% of space remaining, it was almost 10% yesterday.. The biggest item I know of its the back-up data for my Ipod touch 32 gig 4th gen. Now i know there is a method of sort of linking so it sees another drive as C: but I have not tried that at all.
I have a nice External HD as well as another internal drive i can copy the data to but that is where i need some more info.
first of all is it possible to copy the data files from C: to another drive, then delete the data on C: till it is needed for itunes?
Second, if so what files are the ones needed and what steps should i do?
As an alternate question by the way, is it still not possible to choose where to save the backup data in itunes?

Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
There are like 3 steps.
You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data: It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.

How can I filter a table from Data Control without enter query

I have a table from a web service data control based on WSDL.
I want to filter the table without input query at filter text box. Without filter text box, each would filter the table with a hardcoded query internally.
For example, when user click A menu button then it filters the table where type = '1' and B menu button filters the table by type='2' and C menu button filters the table by type=' ' .
How can I filter the table without enter query?
Could anyone point me to a solution please.

Hi,
when you created the table, did you try selecting the "filter" option. Select the table and go to the Property Inspctor. In the tool bar of the Property Inspector there is an icon to change the configuration. Its adding filter filter fields for the user to search in.
Option 2: The data of the Web Service actually is held in the iterators. If you wanted to filter the WebService query, I would not use the WS DC but a JAX-WS proxy in a POJO to fetch the WS Data. Then have the Data Control created from the POJO. You could have a method exposed on the POJO that allows you to filter the internally held data

Most email clients have a provision to create a 'rule'. The rule examines the email as it is received. In generally you can search for specifically senders, recipients,subjects, or specific content words in the body. Based upon the findings of the rule, you can do something with the email (such as end it directly to the Trash).
For example if you know where all of valid you emails come from, you can create a rule that checks the from field for an acceptable sender and sends those email's that to the inbox, while sending all emails from other senders to the trash or spam folder
Keeping out foreign language emails is often difficult because because often it is difficult to come up with a rule that will catch them on the basis of language they are written in.
There are also commercial products that can scan incoming email and 'score' the email based upon content, and you decide at what 'score' you want the mail sent straight to the trash or spam folder. Verizon's spam filter does this based upon Verizon's scoring system, and actually does catch a lot of spam. It also occaisonally catches things that are not spam however....

How can I make a column of sums out of a repeating pattern of 24 changing numbers in Numbers.
I have a long list of 8760 numbers of which I need to take the sum (and store in a column) of each 24 numbers.

Here's one way. I've reduced the example, taking groups of five numbers from a set of 20. I've used 3 as the data number in all cases to make the sum easily recognizable.
Original column of numbers in Data::column A.
Data::B2 (and filled down): =QUOTIENT(ROW()+3,5)
This adds 3 to the row number, then divides by 5, returning the quotient and ignoring the remainder.
The result is a 'group number' for each group of five rows.
Sums of each group are reported in the Sums table.
Sums::A2 (and filled down): =ROW()-1
Sums::B2 (anf filled down): =SUMIF(Data::$B,A2,Data::$A)
For your example, assuming the 8760 numbers are listed in column A of a table named Data, starting at cell A2:
Add a second column to the table (column B).
In B2 enter the QUOTIENT formula above, with these two revisions:
=QUOTIENT(ROW()+22,24)
Fill down to all cells in the column.
Provided you have named the first table "Data", both formulas in the Sums table will be as written above. You will need to extend the Sums table to 366 rows (including the Header row) to accommodate all 365 groups of 24.

The first thing you need to do is to read your file in as a spreadsheet file. Then, you display it in a chart.
That sounds simple, but looking at your dataset, there's a few things you should know. First, the "read from spreadsheet VI" is looking for data in columns, like your data set, but columns separated by tabs. Therefore, your data must be saved that way; currently, it doesn't seem that it is. Another thing; you must skip the header portion (labels) of your file when reading.
Next, it would be easier if your time was first, and your data was second in your columns, but that can be overcome. In the VI I am including, I have copied your data set into a file called data.txt, and I've removed the header and separated the columns with a tab. Then, I read in the data, and I break out each column so I can put the time first, and then I combine them again into a cluster so it can be displayed on an XY chart.

Take a look at this example. I now added the file-read part. I intend to read from a .txt file that contains a column of numbers. After reading I want to display it as a waveform. In fact the numbers represent points along a waveform/graph of Flow vs. time. Thus I want to have this info in the chart or graph with flow in the y0axis and time in the x-axis. Can someone give me some detailed help please? Thank you in advance.

All you have to do is use Read From Spreadsheet File.vi that's on the File I/O palette. For your example .txt, set the Transpose input to true and wire the First Row output to a waveform graph. The only problem I see is that since your file doesn't contain any sampling info, the time axis will be relative. If have that information elsewhere, then you can put a build waveform function between the read and the graph. Wire the First Row output to the Y input Build Waveform and add t0 and dt values. I've attached an example.

My specific requirement is i have an input field on the screen and i want reflect that value as the column label for one of the column in the alv table. I have used he above code with slight modification in the MODIFYVIEW method of the view since it is a process after input. The component gets activated without any errors but while run time i get an error stating
"The following error text was processed in the system CDV : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible."
i have checked in debugging and the error occured at the statement :
lr_column = lr_column_settings->get_column( 'CURRENT_YEAR' ).Please can you provide me an alternative for my requirement or correct me if i have done it wrong.

I found it myself how to do it. The error says that it is not able to find the reference object i.e it is asking us to refer to the table. The following piece of code will solve this problem. Have to implement this in WDDOMODIFYVIEW method of the view. This thing works comrades enjoy...
