How can I keep just the large fox on my homepage? The flashing message about the buttons is a little too much!!
I was at least able to clear the new flashing message about simplifying buttons by clicking back to home or refreshing the page to get the stationary fox wrapped around the world back, now it will not do it. I have a medical condition that sometimes is aggravated when there is a flashing screen. Please help...

If you prefer not to see snippets on the about:home page then you can set the <b>browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl</b> pref to an empty string on the <b>about:config</b> page.
Delete the <b>storage\moz-safe-about+home</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default set.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to the default value to re-enable the snippets.

If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive. -
I am running iCloud on my Windows 7 PC with Outlook 2007 with my new iPhone 4S. Actually all things sync just fine however all the categories of my appointments in my Calendar in Outlook change color when I restart my computer. I have about 15 categories and I use all things in Outlook first and then allow the sync to put it on my phone. I need my categories to stay the same color and stop changing everytime I open Outlook!
The odd thing is that when I click the appointment in my calendar and open it up the category color is correct but I have to have the category menu open, deselect it then reselect it and it will change back until I restart my computer again. Argh. I use these for business so this is a huge headache for me to deal with!
Solutions? Please, Apple fix this!!!Under Utilities >> Disk Utilities, you can search the drive for permission errors and then repair then (the button below search).

I'd recommend using the rectangular marquee and the crop command. This will crop the image to an exact size without any resampling or distortion. Cropping without constraint can cause distortion...like giving someone a cone head.
Check the size of the image first by either looking in the Image<Resize<Image Size. Make a notation of the height since you don't want to change that in this case. (While you are there, change the resolution to the desired output...make notation of height after this step if you changed the resolution.)
Select the Rectangular Marquee tool. Change the setting in the options bar to "Fixed Size" and input the desired size. (Along with the numbers, specify in this box in what units you desire...px, in, etc.
Drag the marquee to the desired location. (As long as the marquee tool is selected, this selection box can be moved around).
Go up to the menu bar and select Edit<Crop.

I purchased four movies from iTunes yesterday and want to sync them to my daughter's new iPod Touch. I have been able to sync apps, music, contacts, etc. but keep getting a message stating the movies can not be read or written. I was able to sync one movie, a digital copy that I used the code to copy from iTunes earlier today without a problem. Can anyone help?
thanks for helping, I am able to watch the movies in iTunes, but, I can't choose the create iPod or iPhone version in the advanced menu. Do you have any other suggestions?

How can I keep just one of two accounts offline in Mac Mail?
I recently switched from Comcast to Cox Cable. Cox has a known issue with push notifications and email doesn't show up at regular intervals. You have to go offline and back on or quit Mail and then open it again to see new messages. It's a pain but it works.
I still have my Comcast email account enabled on Mac Mail because I need access to old emails and if I disable it (via Preferences), it disappears. I want to take it offline but clicking on the Comcast account and "take comcast.net offline" always takes my Cox account offline as well. I can't get them to both stay online because the Comcast account hangs when it can't connect to Comcast. This really exacerbates the already annoying issue of having to take Cox offline and back on.
I tried going into the Comcast account via Preferences and unchecking "include when automatically checking for new messages" but when I did so, it kept the Cox account from receiving any messages at all (I confirmed this by checking webmail, and by toggling it on and off to see what happened).
I need some solution that allows me to see the comcast account in mail without having it be active in any way. I have other mailboxes archived but that process doesn't offer the search capability that I need.Aha! I have been doing just that. However, what has been tripping me up is that I am also used to clicking the Go Online/Go Offline toggle button on the top menu bar when I manually check for messages on Cox. Apparently when you take one inbox offline, that button switches to Off even though the other inbox is still online. If I just ignore that button and go on or off via the cox mailbox listing, it keeps comcast from being reactivated.

How can I keep restrictions on my ipad. I know that if you restore the ipad as new then the password and restrictions gets disabled. Is there a way to constantly keep restrictions on the ipad even with someone restores it as new or restores it in general
If it's restored to a backup, and the restrictions were in place when the backup was made, then they will be kept (they will effectively be copied back on from the backup). Restoring to factory defaults/as new will remove them and all other settings and content from the iPad, and you can't change that behaviour - one reason is that if you forget the restrictions code (and there are fairly regular postings on here from people who have) then the factory default reset then allows you to remove it.

Ok, so my whole family has the same apple ID so that we can all get the same music, and we want to be able to use icloud so that when one person buys a song it will push to all of our devices. But the problem is when I want my calendar on my mac to also be pushed to my phone it pushes to all of my familys devices. How can i keep the music pushed to everyones but the calendar and notes just between my phone and my mac using icloud?
Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library regardless if you select a single album or folder of photos to be transferred or multiple albums or folders. The photos on the albums or folders of photos include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. The photos are not duplicated taking up double the storage space. This way you can view the photos in an album or folder of photos only by selecting the album or folder, or all photos in all albums or folders by selecting Photo Library.
Makes more sense when transferring multiple albums or folders of photos which cannot be changed when transferring only a single album or folder of photos.
The same applies with iTunes and music playlists. A song can't be in a playlist unless it is in the main iTunes library. Placing a song in a playlist does not duplicate the song. -
How can I replace just the corrupt page(s) in the domain file of iWeb using Time Machine?
I back up with Time Machine and have an extensive elaborate website I created in iWeb '09 over a couple months and publish to a local folder and then upload to my server, but in the last few days I notice certain pages (that I haven't even worked on or touched) somehow become corrupted or "cross-contaminated" with elements and images from other pages. Once I see they are corrupt I make sure not to publish them (if the current published versions are the correct, non-corrupt versions) or if they did get published I can use Time Machine to retrieve the .html file and page files folder for that specific page and replace it in my published folder/server so it shows correctly on the Web. However, that does not replace the corrupted page(s) you see and work with when you launch iWeb and try to edit or continue working on that page.
I am confused as to how I go to the package contents of the domain file and replace just that page with a previous version from time machine. I don't want to replace the entire domain file because I have new changes I made to other pages even in the past hours. How can I keep the good pages and just get earlier, non-corrupted versions of the corrupt page(s)? I know it's not as easy as with the published site folder where you can just replace the page's .html file and folder, but I don't want to have to re-create the corrupted page(s) from scratch or have to replace it with the last non-corrupted domain file and then have to redo all my recent changes to new pages I made before discovering the corrupt page(s). Thanks for your help as now I can't make changes to the page(s) within iWeb itself.Thanks for the response, Wyodor. I don't know what that is, but I'll have a look. Is it an alternative to iWeb or a way to transfer pre-existing iWeb sites? When you say merge domain files, is that like so multiple copies of the same site show up then you can pick and choose the non-corrupted pages and group them then delete the corrupted ones? I am on Snow Leopard with no plans or need to upgrade anytime soon.

I was able to discern that within the domain file is a domain folder with all the site folders, each with their own page ".gz" files which expand into ".xml" files. I was trying to figure out if you could simply drag the corrupt pages out that way and replace them with backup copies that are still good. I am having trouble discerning which pages are which as they all have random names like site-page-30F175E3-AE33-4F10-A490-1A096D9B185B.xml and although I expanded and opened each in Text Wrangler, I still couldn't discern which were which for sure, and trial and error proved cumbersome. Also, I did notice some of the later corrupted domain files had one or two more pages than the site itself has, so not sure how they got added or duplicated or what.
Again, I'll look at your links, but do you know about swapping out individual page .xml files this way within the domain file? -
Here's the issue. Kids got themselves into some trouble on iPods. We set all restrictions any turned off iMessage etc, which I noticed they can't turn back on bc it's gray with the don't allow account changes set. BUT, it still allows Wi-Fi to be turned on and off! How can I disable them being able to turn that on wo asking me?? In ios 7, the blocking feature, fabulous, BUT, how can I keep the kids from UNBLOCKING numbers I have blocked? What I am looking to do actually is allow my kids to be able to text family but block everyone else. And ask me to turn on wi fi. How and can this even be done? Right now my d text is turned off completely. And she knows the inside and out of her device so she can turn wi fi on herself. On vacation she entered the wi fi code of our condo and so I did forget network, which didn't work and wi fi kept connecting anyway wo requiring password again! HELP! Thanks :) Also, they have iPods now but am asking these questions based on them getting our 4s's with ios 7.
TeresaBoo, I empathize with your dilemma and have a similar problem. I'm trying desperately to keep my teenage daughter away from a controlling and abusive boyfriend. Of course, she is in denial and thinks it's love. Sure, I can block text messages through our wireless provider, but iMessages run on an independent network. I can block a phone number from iMessaging on her phone, but she can unblock it just as easily. I wish there was some way for parents to create a password to protect settings. Don't let negative comments get you down. Honestly, if someone can't relate to your question or offer help, why are they even bothering to comment??

You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data. If you share an iCloud account with someone, any data you both sync with the shared account is merged, and you end up with each other's data on your device(s). In other words, you want a separate iCloud account for each person to be used on the devices they own. Each iCloud account has to have a separate Apple ID. Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud. In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple. Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account. When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process. If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service. They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID. -
Having arranged some scanned pictures in an album in I-Photo how can I keep them in the order I have chosen when I move the album. They all have the scan date and not the taken date and move to new positions if I move them from one album to another.
Is there any way to re-number them in the order I have chosen so that they can then be sorted by number? The scans are all from pre-digital images that I wish to move to a photobook and I don't want to have to organise them twice!

Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following: Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date. This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames. -
(1) - when I open Firefox I recently have clicked on the hyperlink for HTML at the bottom of page, it works great for my gmail and yahoo accounts. However, it is not a permanent fix, as it apparently lasts just for the daily session. How can I keep my internet, et al. HTML permanently?
(2) - Firefox v24.0 is said to be fast and faster! However, I am not finding it so. when I click on a link or open a tab, it is frustrating as the tab labors too long to open...I more than not click on reload, which appears to help somewhat. Any suggestions?
(3) - I've just printed out the Mozilla Support Q&A on the error message from Firefox stating that it cannot load the website...how to I remedy this, as it occurs constantly with my Yahoo mail login?
(4) Finally, several weeks ago I inadvertently popped the "HEALTH" Bookmark (I have a Bookmarks Toolbar), which is excellent (had it with WinXP also, now with Win7), but I seem to pop, double click, or something or other, that makes a bookmark folder jump into the wild blue yonder! I've posted for answers here and elsewhere, printed out and read all variable instructions to navigate and locate, all to no avail. More sage advice please?

It may be that the site stores your preference in a cookie, and you might have set Firefox to delete the cookie when you exit the browser. There are a few built-in ways to do this:
* Set Firefox to "Keep [cookies] until: I close Firefox" on the Privacy Options (you can create an exception for your mail sites)
* Set Firefox to "Clear history when Firefox closes" on the Privacy Options
* Use a private browsing window to visit your mail site
It's also possible that add-ons or external software may clean out cookies, or that there is a problem with the database file Firefox uses the store cookies.
For #2, did this problem just start recently? Do you notice any relationship with the type of site content (e.g., pages that use Flash or other media)?
