How Can I Make Encore Create a Bluray Image that uses a Bit Rate that Really Fills The Disc?

I have searched and browsed but have not seen this specific issue.
I realize that if you leave the bit rate alone, Encore will use the best bitrate. In my experience, it doesnt. I have also found that the Disc Info on the Build tab is never correct. The final transcoded size of the ISO is always very different from what is shown.
With the current disc I am making, I am encoding 4 HD m2t video files that total 20 GB on disk. The total running time is about 1hr 50m. Leaving everything set to defaults, the final size of the ISO file is 12 GB. I would like the final size to be around 20GB. I would expect that Encore would do this automatically. Changing bitrate in the project settings and re-transcoding does not change the final size. If I manually set the encoding, the size does change but since the Disc Info is unusable, it is excruciating trial and error. You have to pick settings that you think will work, wait hours for it to transcode, then it is way to big or way to small. I cant figure out how to get it to my target size.
Also, when I transcode the files, Encore never lists the bit rates of the transcoded files. The field is always blank.
It may also be note worthy that I have to first transcode the files, then build the disc. If I dont do that, the transcoding will hang. Even when I do separate the steps, sometimes when I build the disc from the transcoded files, the build of the disc still hangs.
I am running a 3 GHz Quad CPU with 4 GB of Ram in 32 bit XP Pro. I have 5 physical drives of 500 GB each. I also use separate physical drives for the source files vs the target ISO. Disk space is not an issue.
Also, is there any timeframe for when Adobe is going to release a new update? I have also run into other problems on this forum like the wonderful error 6 and the hanging transcoding, although my solutions to both problems were different than what was posted. It is all hit or miss.
Does anyone know if Adobe going to add a feature like on other disc authoring programs where you click a Fit to disc button and it then calculates the best bit rate for the specified disc size? That would make me very happy.
I would appreciate any help here.

Encore does have a fit-to-disc feature, called "automatic transcoding", which chooses the bit rate based upon how much media there is to encode, how much room is currently on the disc, and applying format-legal restrictions (minimum and maximum bit rates allowable by the format).
So for instance, 30 minutes of video will never fill a disc because the required bit rate to do so would be higher than allowable by the format.

How can i make a free facetime video call? There's always appearing that my provider might charge for the call?

If you make a call then tap the Facetime button to connect Facetime, the duration of call up to Facetime connection will be charged under your regular airtime.  However, duration during facetime conversation will not consume airtime.
But if you tap the Facetime button on the Contact Page, then the whole duration will not consume airtime.
For Facetime to work, both parties must be connected to wifi.

    Hey mims1212,
Thanks for the question. You can configure what address you start new conversations from on both devices:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
Please note that this will only work for new conversations, and will also be affected if another iMessage user starts a conversation with you (ex. if a friend sent you a message to your phone number, you will still receive that on your Mac, and you will be replying from your phone number).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How can I make Encore assign the specified asset in a complicated project to the file VTS_01_1.VOB?

in terms of disk protection I need the VTS_01_1.VOB file to contain the unnececcary video I planned for it so that I could make this file unreadable afterwards and turn the DVD image file into a copy-proof one. The situation is problematic cause there are 9 menus linked to 1 another and to about 60 timelines. Each time I make changes to moving or reassigning them Encores burns it all differently i.e. ..1.VOB file varies every time but not the way I wished it to be. People, help! My head is no longer a place of serenity

Sorry - I should have posted a "nerdy bit" warning.
DVD Authoring is accomplished by a complex series of commands & system presets, some of which are programmable by the author (the amount of control you have over your project varies according to the design of the application) and some of which are set and unchangeable. The programmable commands are GPRM (General Parameters) and the set ones are SPRM (system parameters). Some system parameters can be varied according to various other commands and logic (if/then/else/or etc).
What you end up with in a full-spec authoring system is basically a blank title that you have to program from scratch to get a playable DVD. Sonic's Scenarist is a good example of this and to get a working disc you will need to fully understand DVD heirarchy, structure, commands & procedures (how it all hangs together).
This is very complex (and even more so wtth BluRay) and not very user friendly to put it rather mildly.
    Enter the Abstraction Layer.
This is an additional interface between you, the author, and the program's command interface (the "authorcore") and does most of the coding for you. Adobe's abstraction layer gets you access to most things that most people will need (but not all of it). All the programming is done for you by the AL.
The downside is that this will inevitably cause limitations. In a full-spec system you can control exactly what goes where on the disc - but even with Scenarist & DVD-Lab Pro, you will still need to create the actual VTS (and all it's titles & menus) manually, and VTS 1 will be written to the disc (and the image) first. Your overall control is also limited to the things that have been included in the abstraction layer - the developers generally try to take a best guess at the things most people will want to do & create an interface that will allow them to get on with it and not need to know the physical layout of a DVD to make it all work.
To do this they must make compromises though, as the DVD specifications still have to be obeyed of course.
How does this matter? One of the decisions they made was to get around a whole heap of spec related problems by putting each timeline into it's own VTS. This means one clip per VTS (you can put multiple clips on a timeline, as you can put multiple clips (or "titles") in a VTS in full spec systems) and these VTS will be created in the order you create your timelines. So your first created timeline will end up as VTS 1, the next as VTS 2 and so on.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can I make some restictions in a PDF document using Acrobat 9 pro?

Hello, I am a teacher from Spain. I am creating a PDF from a power point presentation, using Adobe Acrobat 9 pro. I will copy it in a cd and give it to my students. I would like to add these restrictions:
I would like to avoid that they can copy this document.
I only want to allow them to print it once.
    Thank you

You can prevent copying of content (text and images) by setting permissions on the PDF file using Acrobat (apply password security, leaving the document open password empty).
It is not possible to limit the number of times a PDF file is printed, no matter what settings you use. Printing can be disabled completely, or restricted to low-resolution output, but that is all. Even if it were somehow possible to restrict how many times Reader or Acrobat was allowed to print, there is no way to stop someone changing the copy number in the operating system print dialog, as that is beyond the control of any installed program. A printable PDF file can also be printed to another PDF file (called refrying), which will remove any interactive restrictions on the original.
Note that permissions security is only respected by Adobe software. Third-party applications will often ignore the restrictions and allow all operations. The only way to truly protect the file is to apply a security method which is only found in Adobe products (such as LiveCycle policies), which will as a side-effect prevent anyone from opening the file in a third-party application that might not respect the restrictions.

  • How Can I Make Smooth Moves of Still Images?

I'm doing a lot of moving stills in a current project, but I can't figure out how to add acceleration curves to the moves. I know the pen tool has a "smooth point" to add curves to keyframes, but I don't know where to apply them. I can apply them in the "scale" setting in the viewer, but not "center."
I'm sure there's an easy way, but I can't figure it out. Id prefer to do it in the canvas if possible. I want to reposition, slide, and zoom my photos so they don't "clunk" on the keyframes.

In the Canvas, make sure you're in Image + Wireframe mode.
    Set up the basic move:
    - position the layer at one end of the motion
    - set one keyframe on Center
    - move the playhead to the other end of the intended motion and move the layer again.
Right-click on the closing keyframe and choose Linear. Look really closely at the motion path (a series of small purple squares) in the Canvas. Connected to the currently selected keyframe (green square) are two circles, one dark purple and one light purple.
The lighter circle controls the curve of the motion. Adjusting this will change the path the object moves along.
The darker circle controls the acceleration. You'll see the smaller purple squares bunch up or spread out as you drag the darker purple circle; the further away the squares are from one another, the faster the motion.
Since you want to keep the path the same but change the acceleration, just move the darker circles. Ease In/Ease Out will start the process for you but with less control.
If all that doesn't give you the results you're looking for, consider using Motion or iPhoto instead. Some third-party plug-ins can also help if you're doing this a lot.

  • How can I make a projection of an image (diaporama) with LabView?

Hi, I would like to project an image (or better a matrix stored in a table) on a second screen (or videoprojector, or whatever) connected to the computer. In two words I would like to do what PowerPoint does by pressing on "diaporama".
Does somebody knows if that is possible with LabView (without scrolling the LabView window on the second screen since that doesn't make a FULL SCREEN projection of the image)?
    Hope somebody can help
    Thanks
    TonyMontana

    Tony,
I am not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do as I never use PowerPoint.
At NIWeek in 1999 (if I recall correctly) David Moore gave a presentation that used a program he wrote entirely in LV.
I have a program which runs a slide show on a second monitor (projector). All the controls are on the main screen and the display on the second monitor consists of a simple subVI with a picture indicator sized to fit the projector window. The subVI keeps its front panel open and gets called every time the image updates.
This is a work in progress and has not yet been used in public.

  • How can I make a photo from two merged projects available for a book that I started using one project ? They merge but the book only allows me to access the original project photos even though the merged photos can be seen in the project ?

I have successfully merged two projects in order to add new photos for my book.  The library available to the book which has 26 completed pages accesses only the original project library.  Has anyone else had this problem ?  It is frustrating to see the photos I want in the merged project file, but to have only the original photos when I started the book available in the book library.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

  • How can i make only text slider? Not picture use

    Hi!
I want to text slider. 1 group 3 items has 5 text group changing fade effects?
    Thank you?

    This should do it ...
    1. Under widgets ... place a Blank Composition widget onto your Muse page
    2. Create a normal text box (however big you want) and fill that with the required text you want shown for your 1st slide
    3. Select the 1st (small thumbnail) box underneath the slideshow ... there's 3 shown by default
    4. Click and drag the text box, you created, onto the Blank Composition widget ... you will notice the widget box will give a BLUE outline ... this is showing you that you are adding the text box to the Blank Composition widget ...
    5. Center or place your text box accordingly ... change your Font, colours, formatting, etc to the way you want it
    6. Repeat this for however many text slides you need ... but select a different thumbnail box for each slide ... to add more than the 3 boxes shown just click the little '+' sign next to the thumnail boxes
    7. Under the properties panel for the Blank Composition (you know that small Blue circle and white arrow icon?) select Fading under Transistions
    8. Preview and edit your slide show accordingly
That should be it ... you can add most things in the compositon widgets ... I actually use the TEXT option to show testimonials ...
    cheers,
