Have you quit and re-launched iTunes? Does the menu item become active then? Or are you trying to convert a protected file, which isn't possible. You can tell if the file is protected by doing a Get Info. If Kind says "protected AAC audio file" the file can not be converted in-place. It must first be burned to Audio CD which you can then import into iTunes as an MP3.

Currently my apple tv 3 downloads movies/shows when I want to watch them. I'd prefer if it downloaded everything already and it is all available locally without having to download gigabytes from the internet.

I'm trying to create MP3 versions of songs that I have in my iTunes library and followed the guide in the knowledge base on how to do so, but the option is greyed out and won't let me select it. I'm using version 11.3.0.54 and would appreciate any help

If they are "protected" files, which would have been purchased prior to mid-2009, they cannot be converted. Burn them to an audio CD and re-rip as MP3. -

iPod mini for windows Windows XPOpen a QT document and use the Help menu, where you should see an item labeled (I believe) About Quicktime Player. That should tell you the version running the player.
You need QT Pro and QT 7 to have a preset for iPod video. You probably can use QT 6 if you use these settings in making an mpeg-4 video:
