How can I name a button/movie so that an external script can read it?

Hi,
I have a javascript on my website that is called on any click. The script reads the name of the clicked item. This works fine for all jpg/gif images with a name, but how can I name a flash movie in such a way that this script can read it? I tried several things, the name (and id) in the published parameters, the name of the instance, of the button, etc. But nothing works?
The external javascript is this:

You should look into using the ExternalInterface class to have Flash talk to javascript in the web page that contains it. Here's a link that provides some information on that...

Try to reset the device:

3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Unable to edit Flash file - Can't enter inside buttons/movie clips.

I am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. Can anyone please help.. I really don't wanna have to start this website again!!

This would normally happen when you have a Button symbol on stage and the 'Enable Simple Buttons' setting is enabled.
Can you check in your Control menu, if the option 'Enable Simple Buttons' is enabled? If it is, click on the option to disable it and then try double clicking on your symbols.
In case you still face the issue, can you send across your test file for investigation.

How to stop Timer event inside movie clip that does not exist?

Hello. I am using Adobe Flash CS6.
As this topic title says. how to stop Timer event nside movieclip that does not exist?
I mean my fla stracture is there are 2 frames on main timeline, and I put mcA on frame 2.
And I put a button on root that does

I need to stop T_TImer from root on frame 1, not on frame 2.
but, "mcA.T_Timer.stop();" won't work.
I get TypeError: Error #1010 error.
I don't know how to stop this timer event. I have to stop it from root, and I can't use EVENT_REMOVED in this case.

If the object doesn't exist you cannot do anything relative to targeting it. Maybe you should move the timer to the main timeline where you can access it any time.

How to get tv shows and movies backed up on external sata drive?

I realised a couple of days ago that several of my movies and tv shows that I purchased are no longer downloaded on my computer but are stored on the cloud. Now how do I get a backup on my drobo external disk? I don't want to fall or be without wifi and not being able to watch movies or tv shows.
Music has a download icon next to it, but that is not there for movies and tv shows. I have my itunes folder on my drobo, and want to keep it that way...
Anyone have a good suggestion for me?

Your shows should be in your purchased items on iTunes. Log in to your account and you should be able to find them. Not all movies are available for a second download though, you should check on that.
Once you've downloaded them again to your computer, you can backup with time machine, or burn them on a DVD. Read this article for further information:

Can I use Acrobat 11to download pdf that only allows me to read, enter data, and print?

I need to complete gov. forms available online as pdf. I can review, enter data and print, but I cannot save to my computer or anywhere else. I need to be able to save so I can return to the form and enter information as I access it. Can this be done if I purchase Acrobat 11 and, if so, can I get the Standard edition? I currently only have Reader.

Yes, if you upgrade to at least Acrobat Standard you will be able to save. Since you can't save with Reader (assuming 11), the forms are probably XFA forms (created with LiveCycle Designer), which must be Reader-enabled in order to be saved with Reader. Reader 11 can save non-enabled AcroForms (forms created with Acrobat), but not non-enabled XFA forms. If you have a Reader version prior to 11, try using Reader 11 to see if it will save.
If you can provide a link to one of the forms, I can tell you for sure what the minimum requirement for saving is.

I have seen iScreensaver and PulpMotion and several others but I simply wish to convert an mov file to a screensaver that other mac can download. I haven't been able to come across a tutorial for this that works on Lion. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

How do I move to icloud? Each time I select "move to icloud", the stupid system goes looking for my iphone. It also tells me I need a "me.com" email, which I already have. I'm getting very ****** off at going round and round and round and going nowhere. You can directly insert the html which would create a link to bookmark on page or insert the html inside button widget and define states.

How to make mouseover scroll buttons attached to textarea with external loaded text ?

I am working in Flash CS3 and AS3, and I'm not good in
scripting.
I want to make a dynamic textarea with loaded text from an
external textfile, and then I want custom made arrow buttons to
start scrolling the loaded text on mouseover (not click) andt stop
scrolling on mouseout. Ala like in this webpage:

The part with the loaded text is fine, but I can't manage to
script the arrow buttons to do what I've just described. Even
though I have searched the Internet for recipes I just find how to
scroll loaded text on click or with a scrollbar. This problem is
starting to drive me crazy!! Is there anyone that have a recipe for
this??

Here's one approach:
First you need to create a dynamic mutline textfield that has
autoSize properties set to handle a varying amount of text.
Then you need to embed the font because you are going to use
a mask over the textfield to define the viewable area of it.
Then you will use the buttons to change the textfield's y
property to move the textfield up/down vertically. You will
probably need to use an ENTER_FRAME event handler so that a
continuous hovering of a button will cause the textfield to
continue moving until it either reaches one end or the other or
when the hovering ends.
Before you try to tackle that though, just make it so that
hovering a button will cause the textfield to move up or down one
increment of distance. Just take it one step at a time.

Can I format a finished movie so that it will fit within a normal tv....

I finished a 2 hr movie with many 'music video titles' throughout and when I went to play it on my TV (which is not HD or plasma) nearly half of all my titles were cut off by the edge of the screen and even the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to 'reformat' so that the entire iMovie HD screen will fit within my TV screen and all the remaining space will be filled with black? Basically, I need to zoom out my entire project.

What you've discovered is known as the TV Safe area. You can view it in iDVD prior to burning but iMovie doesn't show the area.
MPEG Streamclip can "rescue" your Project so you don't have to redo all of your titles. It can "zoom" (in or out) and then export your Project back to DV Stream for use in iDVD.
Trial and error on how to use the feature. The software is free.

Our department (marketing) wanted to control the input of the iPads. We found out it was useless because our salesteam wanted to personalize the ipad (think about projectspecific items etc.) It is impossible for 1 person to control 10 iPads and deliver input for each different iPad. So we decided that each office can have its own account. But these ipads are already connected to 1 computer (i know you can connect them to a max. of 5 computers, but that is not enough in this case..) They can make there own account with their personal creditcard or that of the office. How can i disconnect the iPads en still remain the files on the iPads?

Whatt ype of "files" are you concerned about? Are they purchases from the AppStore or music, video etc, or something else? If you are concerned about Apps, one method of centrally distributing apps is to purchase apps with a corporate credit card, and then "gift" them to the various employees. The "gifted" app is sent to the email address you specify and can actually be forwarded, prior to install to another user for their use...

Music is not included in the iPhone backup, because it is already on your computer, so why duplicate it?
Music can only be synced to one computer at a time, so if you change computers the contents of the iOS device will be replaced by what is on the latest computer.
If you have an iCloud backup and your music is saved to iCloud you can restore it by going to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. When this completes it will ask if you want to restore your iCloud content.
