How can I preserve my bookmarks when I update my firefox? I have a lot of bookmarks and do not want to go through one by one re adding them afetr an update.
Every time I update FireFox I have to re enter all my bookmarks. It is a royal pain and because of that, I have not updated my software for the past several update cycles. I am experiencing crashes to the browser more frequently now and would like to update but ....

The newer versions of Firefox (at least for me) have not had these issues. Either way, it is always a good idea to back up your personal information whenever you are attempting something like this. You should check out [[Backing up your information]] for details.

If you have removed your personal data when uninstalling Firefox then the Firefox profile folder that store your Firefox personal data has been removed.
If you do not have a backup of the files in this folder then your only option is to try to recover this data with an undelete utility like Recuva.

You can create and add another Screen Name to iChat.
From iChat 4 you can have as many AIM Logins and Jabber Logins as you want.
"AIM" in this case includes the Apple IDs (@mac.com and @me.com ending names) that also work as Valid AIM Screen Names as well as AIM registered Names.
"Jabber Names" includes using Google Mail IDs and Facebook IDs as well as any registration with any other Jabber server.
If you are not happy with the one you have you can delete and stop using it.
Both Adding and Deleting are done in iChat > Preferences> Accounts.
Highlight an Account/Name and then the minus button to delete.
Using the Plus button show you the Add Screen.

Hit the num lock button again. Num lock forces only the numeric keypad underlying keys to work as a numeric keypad, and the rest of the keyboard won't work. Unfortunately Apple stopped including the numeric keypad hidden keyboard key labels on its keyboards. They used to include them. How do I do this?A couple of methods.
If you want the bookmarks on the other computer to be replaced with the bookmarks on your current computer, follow the procedure in the [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]] article to backup the bookmarks to a json file which you can email, and then restore those onto the other computer.
If you want to add the bookmarks to the other computer, but still keep the bookmarks that are already on the other computer, you need to export them to an html file. To do that see [[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file]]. You can email the html file, and import it to the other computer, for details see [[Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File]]. -

My OS crashed. I reinstalled it, but still could not access anything. I took the computer to a repair person. He created a new account and retrieved everything I had on my desktop, but not my mailboxes or bookmarks. He said there is a way to do that, but it would be very expensive for me to have him do it. He said I could come here and find out. So here I am.

My original hard drive was replaced due tom multiple errors. Before it crashed completely, I installed a new hard drive and slaved the old one to allow me to access the data and transfer it to the new one. I did not backup the bookmarks. How can I pull the old bookmarks from the old drive to the new installation drive???

If they are in your iTunes library on your computer, sync to restore the books to the iPad.
Connect the iPad to the computer and Launch iTunes
If you auto sync, let the process complete
Select your iPad on the left side
Click on the books tab on the right
Click on the Sync Books heading.
Click on each book in the list to select them
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
You can download them again in iBooks for free as well - as long as you use the same ID that you used to buy the books. Read this.

How can I import my bookmarks and RSS feeds from Flock?
I just switched over from Flock because it's too sluggish to use anymore. How do I import all my bookmarks, passwords, and RSS feeds? If I have to do it all by hand, I'm going to cry.
Also do I need a separate RSS reader to get my feeds in a nice list like Flock does it? I don't really get how Live Bookmarks are supposed to work.
Thanks. I used Firefox before moving to Flock, so hopefully switching back won't be too painful.Hm. This was somewhat helpful. I got my bookmarks moved (although now that I see how many of them I had backed up, I'm not sure that was a good idea).
Still trying to figure out the passwords... I have my Flock profile folder and my Firefox profile folders open... it looks like I need to copy the key3.db file and the signons.sqlite file from the Flock folder to the Firefox folder, does that sound correct?
As for the RSS feeds, it looks like I'll need an external reader to make any use of the .OPML file that Flock exported for me. I'm still not really clear on how Live Bookmarks work, exactly. I see how to create and manage them, I just don't get how they function day to day. I have a ridiculous number of RSS feeds, some of which still have half a hundred posts I'm working my way through.
Any recommendations for a good Firefox compatible feed reader?
