How can I separate my daughter's iTunes purchases from mine (the paying account)?  Some of her music is dreadful and it keeps downloading to my iPhone.

Greetings all:  I've looked through the support communities and don't see this particular question.  I opened an iTunes account quite a few years ago and my daughter and I made purchases and shared home libraries and all was well.  However, as she's gotten older, her taste in music has changed and some of it is dreadful.   It keeps downloading (from the Cloud?) to my iPhone.   How can we separate her purchases from mine?  We have five devices authorized (her laptop, tablet and iPod and my iPhone and my laptop.) My account is the paying account.  Many thanks for your assistance!

On your iOS device:
Settings > Music > turn Show ALl Music off
This will hide purchases that are not locally on your device.
In iTunes create a Playlist with just your music and sync only that playlist.

  • How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac? Thanks a lot. Carlo Molinari (Rome - Italy)

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac?
The following are the basic steps to transfer your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook Pro to the Time Capsule (TC). Note: You will leave the iTunes Library, and its associated files, on the MacBook Pro as you will only be moving the media files.
Be sure to shutdown iTunes before starting.
Next, move the "iTunes Music" folder, located in ~/Music/iTunes/, to wherever you want on your TC's internal hard drive. Remember to leave the Album Artwork folder, as well as the three individual library files where they are on the MacBook Pro.
Wait a while. If you have a large library, this will take a bit of time.
Once the iTunes Media folder has been transferred, open iTunes. Note: It will still be looking at your local iTunes Library on the MBP. As such it will think that the iTunes Media folder is still on the MBP as well. However, we just relocated it to the TC. If you attempt to select any song, you will get an error that the song is "missing." Not to worry, we will correct this in the next step.
We need to tell iTunes the media has moved to the TC's internal HDD. To change where iTunes "looks" for the media, open iTunes and go to the Advanced > General tab and use the "Change..." button to tell it where your new "iTunes Music" library is located.
Once this is done iTunes will likely pop up a progress window telling you that it's re-analyzing your library. Let it complete this step.
As a final check to make sure everything when as planned, click on any library file from within iTunes and press cmd + i (or View > Get Info). At the bottom of the Summary tab in that window is a "Where:" section that tells you the actual file path to that piece of media; be sure that path begins with the name of your TC's drive, and not "Macintosh HD."

can i transfer itunes purchases from one of my accounts to another of my accounts?

No, all iTunes purchases will remain tied to the account that downloaded them, they can't be transferred to a different account (nor can accounts be merged).

  • How can I use apps that I have purchased from Apps Store for Mac on my iPad2?

how can I use apps that I have purchased from Apps Store for Mac on my iPad2?

Thanks, varjak, it is too easy to fall into use of jargon assuming everyone understands what it means.
One additional point in all of this, not all "iDevice" apps run on every "iDevice".  Some are customized for a specific device, or class of devices such as the iPod/iPhone with their smaller screen.  Others for just the iPads for their larger screens.  So the user needs to be sure they are getting an app that will work on their specific device.
And to Phoneboone, you do need to purchase the app again if it is for a different class of equipment.  When you are looking at apps such as iWorks for the Mac and iWorks components for the iPad, the iPad versions are very inexpensive.  Pages is only $10 (US) which is really cheap for such a good word processor that reads and saves in the MS Word format.
Anyway, search for what you need and just enjoy the convenience of so many options for apps.

Two different sets of faces have merged into one under one name. How can I separate them back or delete the bunch?

Look at Steve MacGuire's helpful article:  http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp  It explains how to solve this much better than I can.

  • How can I retrieve my daughter's itune account with suffle

My daughter used to have a shuffle, well two, lost both, but that is not the question. She had money on her itune account but now we cannot figure out how to find the balance - the account used to automatically come up when the shuffle would sync. But now she doesn't have the shuffle and I do not remember her user/login - how can I get tech support to locate the account info?
    Thanks!

  • How can I view my daughter's iTunes library and have it download to my iTunes library?

I have a lot of Apple devices and also Apple IDs (too many created mostly accidentally over time) but when I bought my daughter her iPod, I created her own Apple ID. I only recently allowed her to download some new music and videos as a reward to her and now I wish I had them in my iTunes LIbrary so I can have them on myiPhone, on my iMac, Apple TV or iPad.  I didn't want her to have access to my Apple ID on her iPod and felt limiting it by creating her own account with a PW only I know (so she cannot download anything unless I do it) would create the controls I wanted. I have logged out of my ID and then into hers as I am in the iTunes application, but don't knwo where I can ask it to "transfer purchases made on this iPod to my iTunes Library".  Home sharing will not work since as I just read you can only use one Apple ID to have that work.
What is the best way for families or people with numerous accounts to share music and other apps., etc., bought with many Apple IDs?
I wish they made it as a "sub account" of my main one and then they all where part of a sort of directory tree so that all music bought under sub directories was owned and automatically transferred to the main account.  Could this be done?

    On your iOS device:
Settings > Music > turn Show ALl Music off
This will hide purchases that are not locally on your device.
In iTunes create a Playlist with just your music and sync only that playlist.

  • My iPhone 3gs after update thane sim are damage and iTunes show locked, please help me, how can solve this problem? i am purchase from Sweden.

My iphone purchages from sweden, when my ipone update latest vertion then sim cards damage and iphone monitor show itunes are loced. please help, how to solved the problem.

Swedish carriers sell their phones carrier locked and do not offer official unlocking.  So unless you want to use it in Sweden with the original carrier you may as well sell it to someone who can use it there.
Edit - I tell a lie, one of the carriers 3 do offer unlocking but not the others.

  • How can I move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another?

Is it possible to move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another, so as to change which user the iPad is syncing to without deleting any app data? Currently the iPad is synced to one user on my iMac, and I would like to transfer it so that it will sync with a different user on the same iMac (using iTunes, of course). I'd like to replace content from the old user's iTunes library with my user (eg. music, movies), but I don't want to loose app data in the process if I can avoid it.
I have tried to use the pathway /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup but my iMac doesn't seem to have a MoblieSync folder. I wouldn't know what to do with the backup anyway though.
Can anyone help me or is this request too complicated, difficult, or impossible? Thanks for your help!

The Apple Document covers this. See the footnotes of my google docs
I've done this, it is easy, but takes time and patience.
On the existing mac with OSX and Configurator:
    ========================================
    - run disk utility and verify your disks are ok, a must
    - make note of the user logged in when using configurator  such as "bob"
    - connect a new or newly reformatted USB formatted for Apple
    - run time machine and backup to the USB
    - Take the mac off the network,
    - Buy a new mac
    - setup the mac with a new logon account like Paul or  "bob2"   do not use BOB !!
    - finish the new purchase setup, get to your desktop
    - now run the migraiton assistant  moving bob from the USB to the new mac
    - reboot, logon as bob, launch configurator and connect just one ipad.  Test

  • HT1212 How can I restore my iPod touch 4G with white on the display when it has a passcode on it and I know it butI can't enter the passcode on it?

My iPod touch has white on the display. I need to restore it, but I can't enter the passcode on it. Is there any other way to type the passcode and restore it when I know the passcode?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

  • How can I share files between two users? or merge the user accounts

my laptop came home from the shop with two user accounts -never noticed that before - and some files are in one user account, some in another. I want to share them so I can just use one account. I just upgraded to Lion, so that may be an issue. Best of all would be to merge the two accounts so I don't have to think about it- just like 2 weeks ago. As it is, I have to log into one account to use Quicken, and another to use iWork - else I cannot access the files

Move the files to /Users/Shared/ and from there into the other account.

  • Given two user accounts on one iMac, how can I notify myself that I have email waiting on the other account?

I have two user accounts on the same machine to monitor (different security levels). I'm in on the main account most of the time but I need to know when the other has unread emails (Yes, different email accounts and they can't see each other). I tried setting up a rule that would send a note to me (to my other email account) when a message arrives but (a) I can't get the rule to execute when the email arrives, and (b) I can't send a non-secure note (eg., "New Mail Waiting") - all I can do is forward the email. Is there any way I can do this without learning AppleScript and writing it myself? (Both user accounts using the same iCloud account)
    Thanks,
    Don

The "Rule" probably won't work when that user isn't signed in and/or being used. My suggestion is to sign into that email's account on the web service. Example if you have an icloud.com email account, go to icloud.com and go to the little gear in the lower left. Set the rule there. Rules set there should work all the time, since it's "on" all the time. Where as if the rule was set on the Mac Mail app, it has to be opened and what not.

  • How can I use my prepaid $ in iTunes after I cancelled my AOL account?

I cancelled aol, that's how i logged in as my user name for iTunes, and now it won't let me log in. I set up an Apple ID account but i'm afraid i lost all of my credit i had. Does anyone know how to get it back?

    According to this article
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/email/
you just have to log in three times with your old AOL account.
If that doesn't work, contact iTMS at the bottom of that page, becuase we users here won't be able to give any further help with account probelms.

ive accidentially pressed the wrong passcode multiple time and now my phone is locked its says connect to itunes, im not really sure what to do after that.. id appriciate any help. thanks

With the new IOS 7 therer has been what is know as an activation lock in which disables the user to restore the device to default settings without knowing the password to the apple id. Once you have restored the device back to default settings it will then ask you to plug in the apple id password. Once you have verified your identity with the apple id password you will be good to go!
    Good luck.
