How define size for String of Array ?

Hai,
How to define a String of array with size ?
String[] item={"a","b","c"};
but before this statement i want give the size for the String of Array
suppose if i give the size 10
String [10] item;
but it's give "Not a Statement Error"
Please give me an idea !
Thanks & Regards,
Merilna

String[] s = new String[10];

  • Stripe size for scatch disk array

    I am building a CS5/64 workstation running on Win 7/64 that will be used to edit 1-4Gb images. The scratch disks will consist of a RAID 0 array using 3-4 WD600Gb 10K drives shortstroked on an Areca card.
    What is the best stripe size for a 3-4 disk array for large images? Does Adobe publish how they R/W to the scratch disk, size of block,etc?
    Larry

    Right click on the root of your C: drive, and choose Properties.
    Click the Hardware tab, select the drive (array) you'd like to set advanced caching on, and click the [Properties] button.
    Click the Policies tab, and note the setting of the [ ] Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device.  This may not be available, depending on the drivers.
    Note, specifically, that this feature can cause quite a lot of disk data to end up in your RAM for a while, if an application gets significantly ahead of the drive's ability to write data.  This is where the warning about having good battery backup comes in.  I'll add my own comment:  Your system should be very stable as well.  You don't want it crashing when a lot of writes are pending.

  • Max Byte size for String?

    Friends,
    I want to know maximum byte size the string can hold.
    Is there any restriction for the size of the string

    Friends,
    I want to know maximum byte size the string can
    hold.
    Is there any restriction for the size of the string
    Whether it can hold 898380 bytes in one stringEasily. Can you hold 830 MB in your memory?
    Max size is, as you could have easily found out by searching, Integer.MAX_VALUE bytes.

  • How to search for particular string in array?

    I am struggling to figure out how to search array contents for a string and then delete the entry from the array if it is found.
    The code for a program that allows the user to enter up to 20 inventory items (tools) is posted below; I apologize in advance for it as I am also not having much success grasping the concept of OOP and I am certain it is does not conform although it all compiles.
    Anyway, if you can provide some assistance as to how to go about searching the array I would be most grateful. Many thanks in advance..

    Ok, so you have an array of Strings. And if the string you are searching for is in the array, you need to remove it from the array.
    Is that right?
    Can you use an ArrayList<String> instead of a String[ ]?
    To find it, you would just do:
    for (String item : myArray){
       if (item.equals(searchString){
          // remove the element. Not trivial for arrays, very easy for ArrayList
    }Heck, with an arraylist you might be able to do the following:
    arrayList.remove(arrayList.indexOf(searchString));[edit]
    the above assumes you are using 1.5
    uses generics and for each loop
    [edit2]
    and kinda won't work it you have to use an array since you will need the array index to be able to remove it. See the previous post for that, then set the value in that array index to null.

  • Oracle DBSL -  Determine / Define size of fetch array

    Hello guys,
    i have a question about the Oracle DBSL and how it determines the size of the fetch array.
    I am refering to the following documents / documentations:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/86a0b490-0201-0010-9cba-fd5c804b99a1
    Quote:
    As long as you do not program an UP TO ROWS in ABAP, the database gets as many table rows as possible per communication set (as many as fit in 32k).
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d1/801f96454211d189710000e8322d00/frameset.htm
    Quote:
    You have to specify the size of an array before runtime. However, because you cannot know the size of the dataset the system will return, you must define a very large array to avoid an overflow.
    To circumvent this problem, the SAP Basis System translates ABAP Open SQL statements into Embedded SQL. To do this, the system defines a cursor.
    Ok but the translated embedded SQL code has also to specifiy an array fetch size (how many rows are retrieved by one fetch).
    Is this a profile parameter or is it really calculated (how many rows of a specified table would fit into 32k) dynamically in the DBSL?
    Regards
    Stefan

    Hello Michael,
    i am refering to the documentation of DEFAULT_SDU_SIZE:
    > Use the parameter DEFAULT_SDU_SIZE to specify the session data unit (SDU) size, in bytes to connections.
    > session data unit (SDU)
    >A buffer that Oracle Net uses to place data before transmitting it across the network. Oracle Net sends the data in the buffer either when requested or when it is full.
    Ok, that controls the transmit moment in the network layer.. but not the number of rows which are returned by a single FETCH call (through the OCI). (For example in sqlplus it can be set with set arraysize XX)
    I have tested also a little bit around with different sap standard tables in an ERP 2005 system.
    I have activated a SQL Trace (ST05) and done a "select * from <TAB>" via SE16 (no count limit!).
    In my tests there were fetched different number of rows -  take a look by your own:
    Time  Object    Operation  Rows   Returncode
    2.451 T100       FETCH     321      0
    1.915 T100       FETCH     321      0
    1.912 T100       FETCH     321   1406
    1.246 E071K      FETCH     109      0
    1.218 E071K      FETCH     109      0
    1.155 E071K      FETCH     109      0
    T100 (4 VARCHAR columns)
    E071K (14 columns of different types)
    So it seems like the DBSL dynamically calculates the number of rows which can be returned by a single fetch call based on the row size (number of columns and column sizes) and other unknown factors.
    If this is true, it would be really great and nothing have to be done by us (the customers!).
    But if the DBSL dynamically calculates the max. number of rows per fetch:
    Why is a "SELECT * FROM <TAB> INTO <ITAB>" preferred - the SELECT Statement in a LOOP (like in the example) is also fetching the max number of rows by each fetch, or?
    The example: http://sap.mis.cmich.edu/sap-abap/abap04/sld017.htm
    That was only a notice on some small tests, which i have done.. maybe someone knows it in detail.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • How to auto insert a number array with size of 20 into a named excel file with the positon is from A1 TO A20?i use lv6.1

    can you give me a example vi for it ?thanks a lot!
    how to auto insert a number array with size of 20 into a named excel file  with the positon is from A1 TO A20?i use lv6.1

    You don't need us to give you an example, as the example already comes with LV. Go to Help>>Find Examples and search for "excel". You will find an example called "write table to XL". You should note that the example doesn't do that exactly, because it writes a 2D array from 2 to N.
    You can modify the example by using only one for loop (instead of nested loops) with a 1D array or by going into the Set Cell Value and modifying it to accept a second cell value for the Cell2 terminal and wiring in a 1D array instead of the single string. If you do modify it, be sure to save it under a different name, so you don't overwrite the original.
    To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
    In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).
    Try to take over the world!

  • How to ask for an array and how to save the values

    I'm supposed to be learning the differences between a linear search and a binary search, and the assignment is to have a user input an array and search through the array for a given number using both searches. My problem is that I know how to ask them how long they want their array to be, but I don't know how to call the getArray() method to actually ask for the contents of the array.
    My code is as follows:
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    public class Main
        private static Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
        public static void main (String args[])
            //creates ArrayList
            int List[];
            System.out.println("How long would you like the array to be?");
            int arrayLength = input.nextInt();
            //Initializes array list
            List = new int [arrayLength];
            System.out.println("Please enter the first value of the array");
        public static void getArray(int List[], int arrayLength)
            for(int i=0; i < arrayLength; i++) {
                 System.out.println("Enter the next value for array");
                 List[i] = input.nextInt();
         public static void printArray(int List[])
             for(int i=0; i < List.length; i++)
                 System.out.print(List[i] + " ");
    public class search
        public static int binarySearch(int anArray[], int first, int last, int value)
            int index;
            if(first > last) {
                index = -1;
            else {
                int mid = (first + last)/2;
                if(value == anArray[mid]) {
                    index = mid; //value found at anArray[mid]
                else if(value < anArray[mid]) {
                    //point X
                    index = binarySearch(anArray, first, mid-1, value);
                else {
                    //point Y
                    index = binarySearch(anArray, mid+1, last, value);
                } //end if
            } //end if
            return index;
        //Iterative linear search
        public int linearSearch(int a[], int valueToFind)
            //valueToFind is the number that will be found
            //The function returns the position of the value if found
            //The function returns -1 if valueToFind was not found
            for (int i=0; i<a.length; i++) {
                if (valueToFind == a) {
    return i;
    return -1;

    I made the changes. Two more questions.
    1.) Just for curiosity, how would I have referenced those methods (called them)?
    2.) How do I call the searches?
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    public class Main
        private static Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
        public static void main (String args[])
            //creates ArrayList
            int List[];
            System.out.println("How many values would you like the array to have?");
            int arrayLength = input.nextInt();
            //Initializes array list
            List = new int [arrayLength];
            //Collects the array information
            for(int i=0; i < arrayLength; i++) {
                 System.out.println("Enter a value for array");
                 List[i] = input.nextInt();
            //Prints the array
            System.out.print("Array: ");
            for(int i=0; i < List.length; i++)
                 System.out.print(List[i] + " ");
            //Asks for the value to be searched for
            System.out.println("What value would you like to search for?");
            int temp = input.nextInt();
            System.out.println(search.binarySearch()); //not working
    }

  • How to put a String into a byte array

    How can i put a String into a byte array byte[]. So that i can send it to the serial port for output to an LCD display. Cheers David

    javadocs for String
    getBytes
    public byte[] getBytes()
    Encodes this String into a sequence of bytes using the platform's default charset, storing the result into a new byte array.

  • How do I change the default paper size for printing?

    I am running Firefox 3.6.3. Recently, the default paper size for printing unexpectedly changed to a user-defined size of 3.00" x 4.57". It used to be letter size (8.5 x 11). The default paper size is 8.5 x 11 for everything else. I have tried changing the size in the preferences dialog box and then clicking "default", but after I close Firefox or if Firefox opens a new window, the default size switches back to 3.00" x 4.57". Does anyone know how to fix this?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == About 2 weeks ago

    In "mine" dutch firefox 3.6.12 there is no option to change paper-size see
    "about:config" Promise to be careful (and be!) Enter "print.postscript.paper_size" gives a empty screen
    "paper_size" gives a few results
    What about the numbers 4259872, 4784247 and what is the meaning of
    paper_size, paper_size_type , paper_size_unit

  • How do I lock in a font size for all viewing

    I created a website that looked great on my laptop, my house desktop, my Blackberry and even my Kindle. But the guy that I made it for has his internet browsers set at font size 18 so it looks horrible. I didn't realize that my computers are all set at 14.  I'm assuming that my phone and Kindle are set at 14 as well since everything lined up right. So I went back and set my internet browser at 18 and redid the pages to match.
    My question is how do I create pages with universal size fonts so that this doesn't happen and so that I don't have to change my font sizes everytime I work on this particular site?  It looks so tiny when I change back to 14!

    One issue to clear up might be the redundant styling of text through CSS and through HTML. If you are defining size in CSS, there is little need to also define a -1 font size in the HTML.
    You might experiment with alternate measures of font size in the CSS. There is more than just 'px'.

  • How to create a String with a specific size?

    how to create a String with a specific size?
    For example I want to create different Strings with the size of 100 , 1000 or 63k byte?

    String are immutable so just initialize it with the number of characters you want.
    You might want to look at java.lang.StringBuffer and see if that's what you want.

  • How do i set up a array with a undefined size?

    i'm trying to declare a array that hasn't got a defined size, from looking at api i chose "arraylist", however i get the error "invalid method declaration, return type required" at private arraylist (line 6).
    do you know what i've done wrong?
    could you give me a example in which arraylist is defined?
    this is the top bit of my code, didn't want to post a huge message, let me know if i need to post it all.
    import java.util.ArrayList; // importing
    public class DataAnalyser
    // add your code below...
    private ArrayList() double samples; //declaring
    double samples = new ArrayList();
    hope you can help

    import java.util.ArrayList; // importing
    public class DataAnalyser
    // add your code below...
    //private ArrayList<Double> samples = new ArrayList<Double>();
    //private final List samples = new ArrayList();
    //private ArrayList() double samples; //declaring
    private final ArrayList samples = new ArrayList();

    for (int i = 0; i < arraysize; i++) {
    System.out.println("Please enter value in volts");
    samples[i] = EasyIn.getInt(); //add samples into array
    i'm getting this error message "array required but java.util.ArrayList found", where its highlighted. i prosume that the array is still not setup properly, am i right?

  • How to avoid NullPointerException---String array created from JTextArea

    Hi,

  • How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the Bookmarks Library?

    How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the '''Bookmarks''' Library?
    Since the upgrade to version 9.0.1 of Firefox, the Bookmarks feature changes are confusing me. They seem to be confusing themselves as well. The list of bookmarks has changed. The font size is so small that my aging eyes cannot read it without fogging the screen with my breath. Some folders are out of alphabetical order (where I know they were previously good), and some are missing altogether (folders to which I frequently add references).
    As for missing or deranged files or folders, was there something that I should have done or now need to do to recover those after the upgrade (or before)?
    With regard to font size,
    1. there is no “Edit Bookmarks” or like option to edit the list in this version
    2. the “zoom” option in the “view” list of functions is greyed out when in “Show All Bookmarks” window
    3. expanding the browser window has no effect on font size
    4. “Preferences” settings for font size has no effect in that window either, including advanced settings
    5. “Help” offers none that I can find.
    Can any of you Help?!?

    Maybe this extension helps:
