How different SAP Simple finance from SAP FI

Hi SAP Experts,
can you pls comment on my below doubt,
Hi, Is SAP FI and SAP simple finance both are same. Can you pls help out the difference because i am planning to take up SAP FI training. If you think that SAP simple finance would be better than SAP FI based out of change in technology..I shall take SAP Simply finance.
Also do let me know that is SAP simple finance can be used as extension to SAP FI.
Many thanks for your suggestion inputs in shaping my career !

You need to dig into the data on help portal for Simple Finance or Smart Finance as it is called. HANA road map shows that HANA 2.0 (which is next version) will have entire Business Suite (ECC, SRM, CRM, APO etc., )  and BW will be sitting on single plat form of HANA.  What that means is less infrastructure for BASIS to support.  For functional consultants the world will change as below:
1) As explained by Berker lots of totals tables will be replaced by SAP HANA views.
2) SAP HANA modeling will allow you to create reports on the fly and access them through Analysis for Excel tool.
3) All overnight batch jobs will be a thing of the past as SLT (System Landscape Transformation) will allow you to sync real time data from non sap systems.
4) Smart Finance also got a feature called Central Journal which will bring the non sap data and transform it into FI document and post.  This will be a high value tool addition.
5) Core functionality will remain same, however, consultants have to smart on shortening the month end close cycle, using the power of HANA system.  You may see that the companies can reduce their close cycles as close as 1 to 2 days, with HANA.

  • How to install Simple Finance Apps for SAP Fiori?

    My system:
    1. ERP 6.0 EHP 7
    2. Netweaver Gateway installed
    3. HANA db on different machine
    What I have done:
    1. I installed the add-on that I got from SMP. The apps seem to be present on the server side.
    2. I added the necessary roles to my user so that I could use the apps in Fiori Launchpad.
    3. Logged on to Fiori Launchpad and I can see the apps there, however every Tile that appears has a text "Cannot load tile" on it.
Looking at /IWFND/ERROR_LOG I see that the service gives "Resource Chip not found" error.
    Questions:
    1. How can I debug Fiori Launchpad related errors to find out why tiles don't load.
    2. Can somebody please provide an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide to install SFIN apps so that I could make sure that I did everything right.

    Hello Rauno,
    1. Open the Fiori Launchpad in Google Chrome using Chrome Developer Tools. Do you see any errors in Console or Network?
    2. The SAP Help Portal documentation, e.g. Installation Information for SAP Fiori for the SAP Simple Finance Add-On 1.0, encompasses several activities which may be relevant to the error: System profile configuration, service activation, authorizations, applicable SAP notes, and so forth.

  • How  different is SRM basis from R/3 basis?

Could people share their experience on SRM basis?
    Thanks! Points guaranteed.

    Jeff,
The current iteration of SRM is based on the WAS engine.  It is one and the same as other SAP components.  In terms of application support, SRM is slightly different but no more so than CRM, ESS/MSS or BI support.  They unique applications.
If you have never used the WAS engine, it is basically a grown up version of the same old ABAP engine we have always used.  The difference is the addition of the Java engine and components.  These will take some getting used to.
    Was that your question?

    Gurus:
Could you help with this?  Thanks a lot!

There are lot of functional as well as technical enhancement in all the modules.
Additionally Service Parts Planning is a completely new module since SCM 5.0 in APO.
The SCM 7 Overview Wiki page will give you the Delta in SCM 7.0 compared with previous version (SCM 5.1) not with APO 3.0.
You can go through the Release Notes to get maximum details.

  • How to execute one sap gui script in different SAP system component versions.

    Hi Experts,
I am having a task to write a script which can be executed in different SAP systems , explained as below.
I have created a script to do password reset for mass users in one system (TC6) & it's working fine. But when i load same script in other system(QR5) to do the same activity , the system unable to execute the same script.
One thing i found that by comparing in the two systems that the screen-ids in QR5 system is different than TC6 system.

From the above it's clear that the screen IDs in both the systems are different as the program-me name is different for the same TA (SU01) in both the systems.
Now can you please advise how i will go with both to handle in one script (I can't put a check condition to call different scripts for the specific systems as in my landscape there are more that 100 systems).
    Please help me on this.

  • BW DataSource for Cash Management on SAP Simple Finance

    Hi All Experts,
In our project, we have installed SAP Simple Finance 1.0 add-on for SAP Business Suite on HANA which introduced plenty of new functionality especially on Finance Accounting and Cash Management.
The impact from Simple Finance is that, it seems existing standard data sources for Treasury - Cash Management don't work anymore, i.e. there is no transaction data. I believe it's because the change on source table inside SAP ERP.
We also already activated local BI contents on SAP ERP side (i.e. embedded BW) which allows reporting directly on top of SAP ERP Query. All data models here are VirtualProvider based on function modules. And data is there!
However, due to some limitation, we are not authorized to modify or customize those BW objects on SAP ERP. And meanwhile, we have got a requirement to extract Cash Management data from SAP ERP to dedicated SAP BW system (not direct reporting on SAP ERP). We encountered a problem that we cannot use the existing BI contents; and also cannot generate export data source from VirtualProvider in ERP to be used a source towards BW.
Is there any workaround or resolution to extract data from SAP ERP (Simple Finance installed) to SAP BW? Any suggest is appreciated. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Thanoos

if i understood this right you are willing to use some HANA Live views?
And you want to consume modified versions for these in the BW system?
I can find several links describing how to do so ....
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40d205ae-7407-3110-b6be-881c8f17bf3a?QuickLink=index&…

    Extending HANA Live Views
But these urls describe the way to extend/enhance 'view like' views i think.
How 'function module' views should be extended is something i have not seen/read before.
If the functionmodules point to HANA Calculation VIews maybe ..?
I reply to this thread to find out how this should be handled.

  • How to Trigger an IDOC from SAP R/3 to two systems at a time

    Hi experts,
Can any one please tell me How to Trigger an IDOC from SAP R/3 to two XI systems at a time.
My current production R/3 system sends a DELVRY03 IDOC to Production XI system ( Name : XIP) .
I would like to route the same IDOC from production R/3 system to my Quality XI System ( Name XIQ) .
Problem is production R/3 system triggers an IDOC once. We need to write a logic to route the same to two different systems
Can any one tell me how can we do that ?
    Regards
    Ram.

    Hello Ram,
Do you have connectivity between your production & XIQ?
    What does "connectivity" mean?
    1. RFC destination is maintained.
    2. Port defined for the RFC destination.
If no, create these. (Search in SDN for details).
    If yes, proceed:
    1. Define the logical system for XIQ.(BD54)
    2. Define the same as your partner profile. (WE20). Add the message type SYNCH with the port for XIQ.(This is imp)
    3. Create a distribution model view with sender as "your production" & receiver as XIQ.
3.1. Add the messages which you want to distribute.
    3.2 Generate Partner profiles.
No coding is reqd. for this.
    BR,
    Suhas

  • Loading two different SAP BW system from one SAP R/3

    Hi all,
is it possible to load the data from one SAP R/3 4.7 to two different SAP BW systems in parallel?:
    A) BW 2.1C
    B) BW 3.5
I mean not because R/3 has for example version of R/3 Plug-In which is compatible only to one R/3 Plug-In installed on BW side.
Are there any other restrictions? Ar there any workarounds how to hande this situation?
    Thanks,
    m./

    Hi dear,
I think you shouldn't have any problem!
Look at OSS Note 775568 'Two and more BW systems against one OLTP system' to have more details...
"R/3 has for example version of R/3 Plug-In which is compatible only to one R/3 Plug-In installed on BW side"...what's your plug-in version in R/3 ? I can't understand what do you mean with "R/3 Plug-In installed on BW side" !!!
    Hope it helps!
    Bye,
    Roberto
...and please don't forget to reward the answers...it's THE way to say thanks here, my dear colleague !

  • How to trigger IDOC'S from SAP

    Hi All,
How to trigger IDOC's from SAP(ECC 6)..where can we check this in mii 11.5 weather it is fail/success
    Thanks,
    Abhi

You can trigger LOIPRO, LOIPLO and a few others manually from POIT (SAP Txn).  Master Data related to orders can be triggered from POIM.  Depending on which IDocs you which to generate, there are other transactions to trigger different IDocs.
You can also use Triggers from MII to generate IDocs in SAP using CLOI_DOWNLOAD_TRIGGER_MDAT (POIM equivalent) and CLOI_DOWNLOAD_TRIGGER_TRANS (POIT equivalent).
There is also a rather nice post which detailed the process of using change pointers to automate the IDoc generation and download, but I am having trouble finding it.  Will continue to look and will post link when I find it.
    Regards,
    Mike
I couldn't find the post I was looking for, but there is an informative note 390635 which may help.

  • SAP Fiori BW on HANA scenario / Simple Finance

    Hi All,
I’m contacting you because we are in front of a completely new scenario. We have an important doubt regarding our landscape configuration, and the applications which can be deployed on it. At high level, our landscape has an SAP Business Suite using an Oracle DB, and an SAP BW system using SAP HANA.
    Our questions:
    1. We assume that is impossible to install any Fiori Apps which require the Simple Finance Add-On on the Business Suite (even if they are transactional)
o From the official SAP documentation we understand that the can only run on HANA DB
    o Is it correct?
    2. Having in our environment SAP BW on HANA we assume we are on one of the Side-by-side scenarios (see image below, highlighted in red). So we are assuming most of the analytical applications will work fine, is this correct?
o As far as we understood, it will be a matter of activation of XS HANA engine to make applications work
Any comment or advice regarding these questions would be really appreciated.
Thank you very much and best regards,
    Pau

    Dear Pau,
I believe your understanding is correct.
Simple Finance Apps runs only on HANA, but you can install Fiori (runs under AnyDB) transactional apps in your existing system. There are HCM,PP,SD,MM,PS,FI etc apps (transactional apps) which can be installed in your current system.
With Side-car approach, if you have HANA XS, you can have analytical apps.
You can refer the link https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#/detailInfo
This lists all the available apps the config, implementation requirements.
    Thanks

  • Restore oracle DB from different SAP server

    Hi Experts,
Our SAP PROD Server is down at the moment, we would like to restore the backup DB from QA server. Its a temporary solution for the users to transact. My issues are:
    1. How to restore a DB from a cluster prod server to a central instance server (different in directory structure)?
    2. Is it also possible that when we need the new DB from QAS it can be restored again to PROD cluster server (different in directory structure)?
    Server Specs
    1. windows 2003
    2. oracle 10.2G
    3. SAP ECC6.
    Thank you in advance.
    Joel

    Hi
Couple of things, 1st certainly its not advisable to restore the QA system content into PROD environment. because...PROD contains the latest transactional data rather QA box.
2ndly...YES it's possible in general case to restore from non-cluster system data into cluster system. but procedure is very long and require complete database knowledge. I can hellp you but it will be beyond the scope of this forum post (content wise)
3rdly, If you have DR (disaster recory) system try to active the DR or
The best alternative menthod...that i would prefer is ...recover your PROD system at the earliest and I hope you have all that backups of datafiles, archivelogs ready for to recover the system.
I hope this suggestions will help you.
    Regards

  • How to call a subroutine from sap script

    hi friends,
Can anybody tell me How to call a subroutine from sap script .
    thanks n regards .
    Mahesh

    hi..
    Calling ABAP Subroutines: PERFORM
You can use the PERFORM command to call an ABAP subroutine (form) from any program, subject to the normal ABAP runtime authorization checking. You can use such calls to subroutines for carrying out calculations, for obtaining data from the database that is needed at display or print time, for formatting data, and so on.
PERFORM commands, like all control commands, are executed when a document is formatted for display or printing. Communication between a subroutine that you call and the document is by way of symbols whose values are set in the subroutine.
The system does not execute the PERFORM command within SAPscript replace modules, such as TEXT_SYMBOL_REPLACE or TEXT_INCLUDE_REPLACE. The replace modules can only replace symbol values or resolve include texts, but not interpret SAPscript control commands.
    Syntax in a form window:
    /: PERFORM <form> IN PROGRAM <prog>
    /: USING &INVAR1&
    /: USING &INVAR2&
    /: CHANGING &OUTVAR1&
    /: CHANGING &OUTVAR2&
    /: ENDPERFORM
INVAR1 and INVAR2 are variable symbols and may be of any of the four SAPscript symbol types.
OUTVAR1 and OUTVAR2 are local text symbols and must therefore be character strings.
The ABAP subroutine called via the command line stated above must be defined in the ABAP report prog as follows:
FORM <form> TABLES IN_TAB STRUCTURE ITCSY
    OUT_TAB STRUCTURE ITCSY.
    ENDFORM.
The values of the SAPscript symbols passed with /: USING... are now stored in the internal table IN_TAB . Note that the system passes the values as character string to the subroutine, since the field Feld VALUE in structure ITCSY has the domain TDSYMVALUE (CHAR 80). See the example below on how to access the variables.
The internal table OUT_TAB contains names and values of the CHANGING parameters in the PERFORM statement. These parameters are local text symbols, that is, character fields. See the example below on how to return the variables within the subroutine.
From within a SAPscript form, a subroutine GET_BARCODE in the ABAP program QCJPERFO is called. Then the simple barcode contained there (‘First page’, ‘Next page’, ‘Last page’) is printed as local variable symbol.
    Definition in the SAPscript form:
/: PERFORM GET_BARCODE IN PROGRAM QCJPERFO
    /: USING &PAGE&
    /: USING &NEXTPAGE&
    /: CHANGING &BARCODE&
    /: ENDPERFORM
    / &BARCODE&
Coding of the calling ABAP program:
    REPORT QCJPERFO.
FORM GET_BARCODE TABLES IN_PAR STUCTURE ITCSY
    OUT_PAR STRUCTURE ITCSY.
DATA: PAGNUM LIKE SY-TABIX, "page number
NEXTPAGE LIKE SY-TABIX. "number of next page
READ TABLE IN_PAR WITH KEY ‘PAGE’.

  • How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?

    Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic  or Code for how to do is welcomed.
                        plz help me urgently.
    Thanks,
    Gopi

    Hi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder
