I want teachers who want to list a link to a website, be able to insert a link. how?

would it be a good idea to send a shortcut to desktop from explorer, and then upload that as a file attachment? will that work for most people?

How to view hidden users, add & delete?

I administer eMacs and iBooks in an elementary school setting. Ideally, having hidden users like an administrator, would clean up login page and make the system more secure. The login page would not normally display the hidden login users until required.
How do you view, add & delete hidden users?

For now, I used a Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist file that has a "HideAdminUsers" command in it, and used it by simply replacing the standard com.apple.loginwindow.plist file that displays all users. Conversely, I switched them back when the task was done.
It sounds as if you used this command to modify the .plist file:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow HideAdminUsers -boolean Yes
As an aside, it can be reversed with
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow HideAdminUsers -boolean No
I don't think there is a keystroke to show the hidden admin usernames, but you can log into a hidden admin account with just a few more keystrokes. At the login screen, press the down-arrow to highlight one of the non-admin accounts, then hold down the option key and press Return. At the next window, enter your admin username (the shortname is fine) and enter your admin password. If there is only one non-admin account in the login window, then click the back button before pressing the down-arrow key.

How do i let users modify patch lists?

I'm designing an application in which the user needs to create and modify patches. I would like the interface to have a list of user patches, followed by sliders an textual input boxes to modify parameters. I am aware that i could easily put together the interface with Core Data, however, i don't need a lot of the data management features of Core Data, and would like a simpler way to create mutable lists. Can someone please explain how I could do this?

Can NSDictionary hold multiple values for one key, or do i create multiple dictionaries with the same keys? I am still not very familiar with the NSKeyedArchiver and it's subclasses.

How to hide welcome user and logout link for only specified pages

I have few pages in my application like forget password page, in which i don't want to show logout link on top corner and welcome message. For rest other pages its ok. If I edit the template body for doing it then in all pages the welcome user vanishes, where i need to hide it for some specific page only.

Go to Shared Components/Templates.
Find the page template that you are using and click Copy.
Go into the copy and look for &USER. and #NAVIGATION_BAR# and delete.
Go to each page that does not need the user and navigation and assign the new template.
This will get rid off the user details and the navigation bar.

How do I let user enter a primary key value on a form

I'm creating my first APEX application. I have a simple table called HOSTS with 2 columns HOSTNAME and IP_ADDRESS. HOSTNAME is the primary key for the table. HOSTNAME is a perfectly acceptable primary key and I don’t wish to create an additional column to be populated by a sequence.
What are my options for creating a form on the table without using "Existing trigger", "Custom PL/SQL function" or "Existing Sequence" to populate the primary key column, i.e. HOSTNAME, so that the user can enter a value for the primary key?

primary keys?The application development product is TRYING to save you from shooting yourself in the foot. The idea is to separate the primary key from being accessed by the user or ANY carbon based unit.. The key is mainly used by the system to join and lookup data rows, not for people to change whenever they decide that the key is WRONG.
Think about this, if you use Last Name as a key in your system (a bad idea to begin with since this is NOT a unique id when you have two Smiths). When a person needs to change this because Jimmy Smith is NOT the only Smith working for Acme Toys, you have to cascade that change through all the child tables related to the main person table.
If instead you use a system generated key, no change will be required since the key has NO relation to the data other than it represents a pointer to that row of data.
Works for me, since I do not want to write all the supporting code when APEX builds it for you...

Does Acrobat X Standard let you add web links to PDFs?

I can't find anywhere on Adobe's website that says whether you can add a hyperlink in X Standard or only in X Pro. If someone knows the answer, that would be very helpful. Thanks!

Can I create a fillable PDF that allows the user to attach a file to the submitted form?

There are suggestions in the Help documentation and on this site that indicate it is possible to attach files to a fillable PDF form that is being submitted. But I do not see any instructions for adding this functionality to a form. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to create my form. I have a Submit button with an Action/Menu Item/Submit a form option, and the URL link for the submission is a local coldfusion file with a #FDF suffix. The export format is HTML. The form also contains a hidden EMAILTO field, with an Options/DefaultValue option identifying the recipient's email address. (I'm guessing the local cfm file uses this field.) There is also a hidden URL field in the form, and its Options/DefaultValue specifies the URL of the fillable form itself. (Perhaps the local cfm file uses this field too.)
How can I add functionality to this form, using Adobe/PDF, to allow the user who submits the form to attach a file to the submission?

You have to first configure a text field so it can be used for file selection. You do this on the Options tab of the field properties dialog. In order to select the corresponding check box, make sure only the "Scroll long text" option is selected.
You then can set up a button that has the following JavaScript attached to the Mouse Up event:

getField("upload_text_field").browseForFileToSubmit();
Replace "upload_text_field" with the actual name of the file selection text field.

Allow users to attach a file and remit via form

I am creating a fillable worksheet for users via Acrobat 9 Pro
I would like users to be able to fill out the form, click a submit button (which brings up their respective email client to remit data to form creator (me). BUT....
also somewhere on the form i would like to give them the opportunity to attach or append any other documents they might have locally.
for example, users are working in the PDF form, filling it out and loving it. Then they come to a question which is a form field but also says something to the nature, "if you have references of existing information please feel free to attach to this form" and be able to add or click a button to attach a local MS Word Doc, excel doc, ppt, visio, pdf, etc.

First enable commenting rights for the file, and the users will be able to select "Tools > Comment & Markup > Attach a File as a Comment".

How to add a Link to Edit User Account Info?

Hi, I want to add a link that will take me to the edit user page in oiddas, for the current logged in user. I would have thought that this would come standard in portal, as a smark link. But all I have is the Edit Portal Profile link (which allows me to set my default group, default home page, etc). I just want to create a link to edit the current user's account information (and reset their password). Does anyone know how to do that, am I overlooking something?

As you know, WeyDynpor has provided upload/download UI element, but it seems that it only support one file upload/downlaod at the same time.The following is the API method to download one file in Webdynpro:

but it is very ugly that three popup windows are shown to let user select every file's download path, which is unaccepted.
So anyone know more convienient way to handle it?
