How do I add movies or books to an external second itunes library?

I want to create an external itunes library. I know I have to use opt. and restart itunes in the correct library.
After I create a new second library, how do I add content to that library? Do I just have it on the same disc, or must it be in a
particular folder? Don't know. In my main itunes library, I just drag the movie into the open itunes window, and it puts my movie, or book
where it belongs. Please Help. I have moved all my movies and books off my main computer iMac, onto an external drive.
Thanks if you could give me detailed how to's. I have the current itunes software on my iMac.

Are you trying to start a second library just for the books and movies on the external drive? If that's the case, create your library on the drive, then drag the books and movies to the Automatically Add To iTunes folder you will find in the iTunes folder that was just created for the new library on the external drive. This will move the files to the correct locations within the new iTunes folder and add them to the new library.

SYnce them to the iPod from your iTunes library.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.

I took advantage of an offer for a free download of one song on the CD.
Then I purchased the CD and downloaded it into my music library.
The CD download included the artwork.
I chose to replace the selection with the new download.
Then I realized the selection was not in the same order in my library as it was on the CD itself, so I deleted the entire CD from my library.
Now that I have downloaded the CD a second time into my library, the artwork is not on there.
What to do?
I bet I need to check off the "Always Show Artwork" selection, delete the CD again from my library and download it for what I hope will be the final time, correct?

A good question. Unfortunately Audition does not provide for album art to be inserted into an mp3 file. (Hopefully next version!!)
I use a free program called Stamp ID3 tag editor from NCH software http://www.nch.com.au/tageditor/index.html but there are many others.
My process for a podcast is to mix down my Audition project to an uncompressed wav master file. I then create an mp3 file from this in audition.
After closing Audition, I open the mp3 with Stamp ID3 and enter the tag information and import a jpg image for the album art. Stamp ID3 then saves this information into the mp3 file.
I know others use itunes to insert the artwork into the mp3, but this requires you to import the mp3 into Itunes first.

I'm assuming you didn't purchase the book from the iTMS or audible.com
There is another post around here you can use to convert the tracks into "audiobooks" so they appear in the correct sections

Welcome to the iMovie forums.
Apparently iMovie 08 does not natively support the use of chapter markers. The movie needs to be exported to Garage Band to do the work.

iMovie 8 isn't really that good for serious editing and output. It's is good at uploading video to the internet and to You Tube. That's about it. If you have iMovie 6 you'd be in much better position to edit your video into a good movie and to add chapter markers natively.

If it's an Audiobook, then it's probably in the Audiobook section of your iPhone. Have you set your iTunes to Sync Audiobooks with your iPhone?
Alternatively, if the Audiobook was imported into your iTunes Library as as Music, then it's going to be in the Music section of your iPhone. If so, then it will be in the Music section of your iTunes Library. To move it to the Audiobooks section, select it in the Library and choose File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind where you can change it.
You can change it to a Podcast, but since something is only a Podcast if it is delivered to your iTunes as a Podcast download (which is a process for delivering files without you having to go and find them), then your audiobook is not a Podcast and you may forget (in the future) how you obtained the book in the first place

Hello Annabel,
To move entire projects export them as Aperture Libraries, and then import those Libraries into the other Aperture Library:
Select the Project in the Inspector, then
File -> Export -> Project as Library
In the other Library do:
File -> Import -> Library/ Project
But I am not quite convinced, that the size of your current Aperture Library is responsible for the slowness of Aperture - Aperture is designed to cope with huge libraries.
You may want to post your hardware setup and details of your library, and some of the hardware experts here may help you to find the reason for the slowness.
A huge library should only be a problem, if the projects are too big, and if you have many, many smart albums at the root level of your library.
So keep the projects small, and try to move some of your smart albums to lower levels in your folder structure (then Aperture does not need to scan all of your images to build the smart album).
Other reasons for Aperture's slowness may be, e.g.
An overfull system drive and/or external drive (keep at least 20% of your drives empty)
lack of RAM
a corrupted Aperture Library, that needs repairing
Have you checked those options, before you split your library? It would be a pity to split it, for you would loose the ability to browse all parts at the same time, to use all your images in the Media Browser, etc.
