How do I automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf?

Hi all! I vaguley remember in the past that there is a preference to automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf. Can someone remind me of how to do this? I'm using Distiller version 9.2.0. Thank you so much!
Julie
PS: I'm creating the .ps file from Quark 7, if that makes a difference.

I am unaware of any feature allowing automatic delete of .PS files.
The adobePDF print driver which has been removed in OSX.6.x (Snow Leopard) That you choose when ina Document would go through the following steps in the background this made it slow.
create .ps File (hidden)
Checksum Verify the .ps File
Open Distiller in background (hidden)
Create Pdf
Checksum Verify the .pdf File
shut down Distiller in Backgroun (hidden)
Delete .ps File (hidden)
Pdf suddenly appears
If at any point in this chain something dies the pdf was not made.
Actually in prior OS to X.3.x the print driver provided for my Hp Inkjet, it was actually better to go to print menu, and choose save as  postscript, then drop the postsript file on distiller and creat the PDF. or just open the ps in Acrobat.
with the PRint Drive provided for my HP Inkjet for X.3 it was changed to  create Postcsript file from PDF.  In the start having the PDF button on print menu. The pdf's were not as good as those created in the AdobePDF driver. But were aceptable for most purposes.

  • How to delete a jar file after loading image files from it

    Hi,
    How can I delete a jar file after some image files have been loaded? For example, say, I have "a.jar" which contains an image "a.gif" in the root directory of the c drive. I would like to get the image size and then delete the jar file. Here is the code snippet:
        URL url = new URL("jar:file:/C:\\a.jar!/a.gif");
        Icon icon = new ImageIcon(url);
        System.out.println("icon size ? " + icon.getIconHeight());
        File file = new File("c:\\a.jar");
        while(file.exists())
            file.delete();
            try
                Thread.sleep(100);
            catch (InterruptedException ignored)
        System.out.println("file deleted.");I get the image size correctly but just can not delete the jar file. Apparently the file handle is not released, but how to close it? Any hint will be appreciated.

    I am sure the URLConnection.defaultUseCaches is set before it is connected otherwise I should catch an IllegalStateException on conn.setUseCaches(false).
            try
                URL url = new URL("jar:file:/C:\\a.jar!/a.gif");
             URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
               conn.setDefaultUseCaches(false);
             conn.setUseCaches(false);
                Icon icon = new ImageIcon(url);
                System.out.println("icon size ? " + icon.getIconHeight());
                url.openConnection().getInputStream().close();
                System.gc();
             System.runFinalization();
                File file = new File("c:\\a.jar");
                while (file.exists())
                    file.delete();
                    try
                        Thread.sleep(10);
                    catch (InterruptedException ignored)
                System.out.println("file deleted.");
            catch (Throwable t)
                t.printStackTrace();

  • How can I automate attaching a .pdx file to a group of PDFs

    I am using Acrobat Pro v9.  None of the Batch sequence operations allow me to set the Search Index field in the Document Properties->Advanced tab.  I want to be able to automatically attach a .pdx file to approx 80 PDF files.   I know that there is a way to automatically rebuild the .pdx file, but I need to attach the index to the PDF files, first.  Is there a way to do this via Javascript?  Or any third party plugins that will do this?

    Hello,
    You can also use the FTP Put File.vi to programmatically transfer a file to your Real-Time Target, however, for this you will need the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit.

  • Combining files to create a PDF - stalls, then doesn't work

    My organization has just pushed out Office 2013, and one person has had trouble when she combines files to create a pdf. At first, it seems like the process works, but when it comes to the "Merging Files" stage, it hangs up - it doesn't even finish converting the first file. It stays like this for a very long time, then a small pop-up comes up and says "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command."
    The reason I bring up Office 2013 is because before we pushed it out, it worked just fine with either the 2010 and 2007, and now I'm wondering if this problem is occurring because of our recent 2013 installations.

    suicot,
    Did you ever find a solution to this problem?  I have the same issues.  I can get maybe 3 files (word/excel) to start (slowly) converting then the the stall happens.   Also, Acrobat opens the word / excel application each time it attempts to convert a file, then word/excel freezes and I have to force a close.  What a mess!  (Windows 8.1 / Acrobat X Pro)

    Enyone know how to get USB stick back to normal after creating a USB boot disk for Mavericks? https://discussions.apple.com/message/23527458#23527458

    You should just be able to erase it using Disk Utiilty. I did with my 8Gb.
    If not I have a USB deep format tool, but it only works with Windows: http://tinyurl.com/mwor6s9
    You can download that and unzip it, then run it on a PC to fully erase and format the flash drive. Format it in FAT, and then the Mac will read and mount it so you cna once again format it with HFS extended for Mac use.

  • How to restore a deleted iOS Keynote file on iCloud?

    Ok -- i screwed up.
    heres my setup:
    iPad 1 (iOS 5.01), iPhone 4 (iOS 5.01), MacBook Air Core i7 (10.7.2)  <---- synched to -----> iCloud
    I use Keynote daily and have presentations synched between all my devices.  I accidently deleted a keynote file on my iPhone... and within minutes it was deleted on iCloud and my iPad.
    I had a look on my MacBook Air to see if i could find anything in "~/Library/mobile documents/com~apple~Keynote/Documents" there was nothing to be found as expected. I even looked in "~/Library/mobile documents.deleted" -- but i couldn't even find this folder.
    SO. Next Step.  Restore from iPad backup.
    My iPad backups occur everynight into iCloud.  I tried to restore from the 3 backups stored in iCloud.
    After restoring from the iPad backup -- i strarted up Keynote and briefly for about half a second, i could see the 2 deleted documents (greyed out)... but then they disappeared.
    I even tried deleteing iCloud document synching immediately after the backup -- but then when i startup Keynote it says that that my documents have been moved to iCloud, which i can access after enabling iCloud.  Duh.  Hello.  I want to restore the documents from the Backup.
    I have spent 4-5 hours with some helful apple support guys -- but there seemed no solution to this problem.
    1.WHat are my options?
    2. Why can't i restore a Keynote file from my iPad backup (regardless if it was deleted in iCloud).
    This is  MAJOR bug with iCloud.  And i need to get to the bottom of this with Apple.

    Your suggestion about Time Machine is noted -- and i think good advice for the future although i think most users would be rather confused on the usefuleness of Time Machine when dealing with iCloud synching with iOS devices.
    Its far from obvious on how to access those iOS/iCloud synched documents on OS X Lion.
    But the question remains:  If a file is deleted in iCloud -- should you be able to restore it from an iPhone or iPad backup?

  • How do I  automatically delete duplicates

    Ihave many duplicates in my iTunes library. I recently ran a test and it appeared that there were 12gb worth. Is therethere a way that I can automatically delete them?

    To delete the PL just select and delete.
    Having duplicate PL does not mean that the files (tunes) were duplicated. A PL just creates a link to a tune - it does not create a duplicate file.
    I would delete the duplicate PL then see what duplicate tunes I have.

  • How do I recover deleted book mark files

    My son or his friends accidently deleted all of my bookmarks on Safari.  I have used time machine recently for back up but do not know how to recover my deleted bookmarks.

    Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Safari
    Quit Safari. Disable Safari synchronization in iCloud, if applicable.
    Select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    A folder window should open. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in that folder from a backup that predates the unwanted changes. If you disabled sync, re-enable it and test.

  • How do I manually delete temporary internet files, and if I delete them on IE are they also deleted onFirefox?

    I know how to delete cookies on firefox but have not figured out how to delete temporary internet files. I can do it on IE, does that do the job or do I have to delete TIF's on firefox also?

    The equivalent of temporary internet files on Firefox is the cache. For details of how to clear it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
    Clearing TIFs in IE will not clear the cache in Firefox.

  • Delete an swf file after download

    This is the situation: after a client load external content
    from an http server into his flash movie, a copy of the
    file for the external content (say, an SWF file) is stored
    in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder.
    To protect the external content, is it possible to
    automatically
    remove this file, after the loading is done? This should of
    course be built into the client movie. Within ActionScript,
    there seems to be no delete file function of any sort.
    Is it possible to do it by loading a javascript or ASP page?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for all your answers,
    which have really helped me
    to put things in perspective.
    Let me make the situation more
    explicit. I am going to use
    an empty movieClip as a container.
    All the Flash codes/graphics will be
    loaded dynamically into this
    container during run time from
    a server, with user authentication.
    There are two separate issues:
    (1). Whether the client would
    be able to access these external
    contents on the server, after
    cracking the container swf.
    On the server side, there
    are authentication routines,
    so that a user must be verified
    before he could load any external
    contents. I can hide all related
    scripts/functions on the server
    side (via FMS or http server), so
    that a user does not know what I
    am doing. In fact, I could copy
    to-be-loaded-contents into a scratch
    directory just before loading,
    and then the server side script
    will delete these contents
    after loading. So this
    part should be as safe as my
    authentication method, even if a
    hacker has decompiled my swf.
    (2). Whether the client
    would be able to get hold of
    the contents on his local
    machines, since these
    contents are loaded into
    the container movieClip. This
    part I am not sure. I thought
    that if the files were not saved
    on the disk as temp files and
    if my connection was secured/
    encrypted using https,
    then it would be difficult for
    a client to get hold of the
    content swf files. But you guys
    seem to be saying that a client can
    still get it somehow.

  • [Urgent] How to let FileAdapter to read next file after a customized period

    Dear friends,
    We are using SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 and use FileAdapter in BPEL Process to read files.
    The file adapter in BPEL Process need to handle 14 inbound different files every batch time. And we want to let File Adapter to start reading next file after every 5 minutes. How can we achive this?
    We tried the MinimumAge and SingleThreadModel properties, but seems no use.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
    I think this can help you. Set the following JCA property in File/FTP Adapter .jca file. This will restrict the max no. of files to be read every polling cycle. Set the polling frequency to 5 mins.
           <property name="MaxRaiseSize" value="1"/>Let me know if any problems.

              int len;
              while ((len = zipStream.read(buf)) > 0) {
                   out.write(buf, 0, len);
