How do I 'call' external instance methods?

I want to send a message from a Controller to another Class  to execute a method.  Inside the controller, I typed my message:
                [[MemoryContent]  PopulateMemory];
What I think I am doing here is telling it to go to the MemoryContent class and execute the method called PopulateMemory.  The compiler insists that I make PopulateMemory into a class method.  But when I do that, I cannot deal with the instance methods and instance variables that I need.  What am I missing?

Assuming you are following recommended Cocoa naming conventions, the fact that MemoryContent has an initial cap means it is a class, not an instance of a class. So the compiler error is correct. If you want to use an instance method, first create an instance of the class, then call the method on the instance.
Your method name PopulateMemory should probably not have an initial cap.
So you would typically see something like this.
MemoryContent *memoryContent = [[MemoryContent alloc] init];
[memoryContent populateMemory];
Of course if the class instance already exists, don't create another one. Instead get a reference to the existing instance.

  • How can I call the create method in BO from Application Service

    Hello!
When I create a Business Object, CAF generates some methods automatically.
How can I call the create method in the BO from Application Service logic?
When i call the method then the entityManager and the sessionContext is NULL.
    How can I initialize this?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks, Thomas

If you are using CE 7.11...
    1) In the Application Services, add the BO as dependant object in dependencies tab.
    2) In the implemention, add the following codes to call create method of the BO:
    this.get<BO>.createMethod();

    Both methods are instance methods.
But in my program i cannot created instance of the class unless i get the results from Query.
I proposed that Query must be static, and once we get results we can create object of the class by pasing the result table which we get from method query.
But i must not change the method Query to a static method.
Is there any way out other than making method Query as static ?
    Regards.

You can't execute any instance method without creating instance of the class.
In your scenario, if you don't want to process your method of your class, you can check the instance has been created or not.
    Like:
    IF IT_QUERY IS NOT INITIAL.
      CRATE OBJECT O_QUERY EXPORTING......
    ENDIF.
    IF O_QUERY IS NOT INITIAL.
    CALL METHOD O_QUERY->QUERY EXPORTING....
    ENDIF.

  • Calling java instance methods in XSLT stylesheet

    HI
I know this has been answered in this forum but I cnanot get it to work.
Before calling the transform() method on my transformer instance I do the following
transformer.setParameter( "Confirm", confirm)confim is an instance of one of my own classes. I want to get the
XSLT stylesheet to call a method on this object. The method sig is
public void setTitle(String title)Accordingly in my stylesheet I do the following
<xsl:param name="Confirm"/>having already declared the java namespace in my stylesheet element as xmlns:java="java", and later on call the setTitle method
<xsl:value-of select="java:setTitle($Confirm,$Title)/>where $Title is another var generated in the XSLT.
This should work, right? Well I get an error
'The first argument to the non-static Java function 'setTitle' is not a valid object reference.'But it is as I can do this
    <xsl:value-of select="$Confirm"/>Thanks

Actually, as long as the servlet returns valid javascript, you can indeed "call it" from the client. It will initiate a request and return the result to the browser.
This example uses Perl, but it could be easily modified to go to a servlet instead.
Note that it is only supported in DOM browsers (IE6+/NN6+/etc)

(*env)->CallObjectMethod(*env, param1, mid3, jstr); Why is the asterisk in front of the env parameter in CallObjectMethod()?
return param1;Since you passed that in it is obviously pointless to return it. But that has nothing to do with your problem.

  • How can I call external SSL application to enter Payments from EBS 10.5.10?

    Hello
I am not able to do
[Can I call any ActiveX control in the Forms under Oracle EBS 11.5.10 ?|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1086549&tstart=135]
Now I am looking for some ideas or alternatives or suggestions.
We are at EBS 11.5.10 on 9i and window environment.
    Background:
We have a custom application that runs in EBS to enter payments againts Customers, Invoices or Orders. (pl do not recommand iPayments)
When payment type is CreditCard upon saving a procedure calls a consol apps to charge the card electronicaly using Authorize.net APIs.
    Problem:
Now this procedure of calling (consol apps) is not PCI compliance as unencrypted card number is passed to console app. (consol app is not using SSL connection)
    Solution:
Created SSL web site using .NET and can call this using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT. Because this is external apps hence I can not get data/response back to calling form (Oracle EBS). This solution is not very elegant as user has to manually query (in the EBS) after saving/submitting/closing web page.
Any other idea to improve above solution or or suggestions for new one. Except for payment part everything else in this suitation is in EBS.
    Thanks a lot.

All Gurus please give some advice. Its is for EBS 11.5.10 (not 10.5.11 typo in the message title). Thanks..

  • How to call Instance Methods and set property values in BAPI?

In Project systems, for the three business objects viz.
Network, ProjectDefinition and WBS, there are two kinds of methods which are available : class methods and instance methods. We have tried calling some instance methods, for instance, BAPI_PROJECTDEF_GETDETAIL to get details pertaining to a project. While importing this BAPI, it shows two elements for mapping i.e. Current Internal Project(string) and Current External Project(string). We supplied these values for an existing project. Upon running this call through an XML client at our end, it
returned an error "Module Unknown Exception". This general message is present on every instance method thus far. Upon searching in BAPI Explorer for Project System->ProjectDefinition->GetDetail, we found that this BAPI didn't take any input parameter.
Following message was displayed in BAPI Exlorer for this BAPI:
"... Obligatory import parameters are the external and internal keys CURRENTEXTERNALPROJE and CURRENTINTERNALPROJE of the project definition. The system reads parameters contained in the structure
    BAPI_PROJECT_DEFINITION_EX ..."
    i) How to supply the values of Obligatory import parameters.
ii) What are the possible causes of this exception.
iii) How to call an instance method. We are using same mechanism for calling class as well as instance methods so far, we have been to call only class level methods successfully. Is there anything special that we
need to do to call instance methods.

    Hi,
what version is the SAP PS running?  If WebAs or higher,  create an inbound synch interface containing your two parameters in the request structure and as many as you require in your response structure.  Generate an Inbound ABAP proxy, where you can plug in some code, i.e. create and instantiate an object of the required type and make the call to the BAPI.
If SAP PS on lower than WebAs, then create a wrapper function module and make it RFC enabled.  Then plug your code in here and do the same thing.
    Watch out for commits!
    Cheers,
    Mark

  • How to call a private method in a JFrame

I have a Frame which has some properties like its size, bgcolor plus other parameters, as instance variables. There is a button on the Frame with the caption : "set properties". When one clicks on that button, a new frame should appear via which a user can change the values of the parameters of the main Frame (i.e size, bgcolor,..etc). The user would input the new values in the textfields or radio buttons that are on the new frame, and then click a submit button, which has to exist on the same NFrame. How can I do that so that when the submit button is pressed, the parameters values are updated and so is the display view ?
I made it this way : I created 2 classes, the main frame and the new Frame. I made the new Frame an instance variable of the main Frame. When the user clicks the " set properties" button on the main Frame, the new Frame is shown. The user enters new values for some of the parameters and clicks submit. The parameters in the new Frame are updated. UP TO HERE EVERYTHING WENT JUST FINE. Now, there is a private method in the main frame that changes the color, size, ...etc of the main frame according to the values stored in the instance variables color, size,...etc. THE QUESTION IS: How can the new Frame display the changes after the values have been updated ? That is, how can it call the "private" method in the main class?? Should the new class be a child class of the main class to be able to access it's private methods ??

    Thank You in Advance.

    Hi,
to call a method u should use syntax from SAP help...
    Static Method Call
    1. [CALL METHOD] meth_identifier( parameter_list ).
       CALL METHOD  meth_identifier  parameter_list.
    Short Forms
    2. [CALL METHOD] { meth_identifier( )
                    | meth_identifier( a )
                    | meth_identifier( p1 = a1 p2 = a2 ... ) }.
    Dynamic Method Call
    3. CALL METHOD meth_identifier { parameter_list
                                  | parameter_tables }.
    Effect
Call of a method in ABAP Objects. There is a difference between a static method call, in which the method ID must be fully known in the program, and a dynamic method call, in which the method ID is determined entirely or in parts at runtime. The static method call can be executed in different forms. In one form, the parameters are passed in a parenthetical expression, in the other without a parenthetical expression. For the parenthetical expression, short forms are allowed. With the dynamic method call, you are not allowed to specify the parameters in parentheses and you must use the statement CALL METHOD.
When you call an instance method using a reference variable and the static type of the reference variable is a superclass of the dynamic type, then you can use the dynamic method call to call all visible methods of the dynamic type, whereas with the static method call, you can call only the visible methods of the static type.
    Note
Functional methods cannot only be called with CALL METHOD, but also at operand positions.
rewards points if answer was helpful,
