I cant seem to find out where I would be able to change the maximium heap space while the applet is running can any one help me?

It is not possible to set the size of a memory pool, only to [+retrieve+|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/management/MemoryPoolMXBean.html] the usage and maximum size for a memory pool (for instance, the young generation, Eden, survivor space, tenured generation...)

1. question - i'm afraid this cannot be done ... bit in report 6 and newer you have posibility to divide your report in 3 parts (former header, body, trailor) and each part can have diferent page siz, orientation , ...
2. question - best is give each column in your statements in one report diferent alias. when you have to chnge something, alias will remain same ...

Need your help again please. Done the install "eventually" now trying to register the product with the product name and the serial number for the product. However in the drop down box there is no option of the Adobe Acrobat Professional XI - Upgrade
the error message coming back to me is "the serial number is not a for qualifying product . Please try another.

Yes,René van Wijk has said rite..
Just open the Weblogic console,
expand Environment-->Server-->(ur managed server)-->Server Start tab
Just enter the below lines in Arguments:
-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
Then bounce your managed server
This should solve your problem

Here is my query. I'm trying to upload excel data into database table. This excel contains more than 20000 records. I'm storing this data in a vector after reading it & passing this vector as a parameter to another method(not mentioned in the below code) which writes into the database. HOW did you increase the heap space? As that is the only solution you have in this case really.
It is a known fact that POI can use up a lot of memory for big spreadsheets. If at all possible, I would try to switch to plain text comma separated files / tab delimited files. If you cannot do that, I would try to put a size restriction on the sheets that your application will process to get rid of the heap space risk. A sheet can contain 20000 records, or four sheets can contain 5000 records; in both cases you process the exact same data, but at only 25% of the total memory usage.

I am also facing the same issue and I am not able to su to root user as the password is expired. and the user I am currently logged in does not have permission to change the root password. I just want to know how I can change the root password now? I am connected to my SPARC Solaris 10 T1000 server through hyperterminal.
The worst thing is that, I do not have IP to the server through which I can try ssh to the server and change the password. Please let me know the solution if you know.

How can I detect Java Heap Space Error?

Is it possible to detect "Java Heap Space" error logged by Report Viewer Bean?
It's displayed on screen and Console - but what about API?
Can I catch it somewhere? Any isError() method? I tried isBusy(), but it does not work - after Heap Space Error, isBusy() still returns true...
Edit:
Sometimes, there is NullPointerException logged after Heap Space Error - in this case isBusy() is set to false after five minutes timeout.

Right Click on the run button and choose Customize...
Now Click on the Commands tab and click the Rearrange Commands button.
Click the radio button next to Toolbar: and choose Debug from the dropdown next to it.
Select the Command with the Green Arrow and click the Delete Button.
Now click the Add button and select Execute under Categories:
Under Commands: scroll until you find the one you desire. In this case Second Execution Entry Point. You will have to repeat the add for other buttons.
Highlight the one you want and click OK.
Click Close and Close when you are finished.

on my laptop there is running a 9i DB with port 1521 and a 10gR2 DB with port 1521 also.
The tnsping on these db's is successfully and
with any tools I get the error : ORA-12505 .
How can I change a port number e.g. of the 10g DB ?

These tools you are talking about, did you configure the tnsnames for them?
If you plan to change the default listening port, you need to modify the listener.ora file under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
After 9i, Oracle has service registration
A feature by which the PMON process automatically registers information with a listener. Because this information is registered with the listener, the listener.ora file does not need to be configured with this static information.
You can try to run one listener, see if both instances can register themselves in even they are different versions.

How to increase the Java Heap Space for a main method

Hello all,
after a given number of calculations inside a class with main-method, I get an OutOfMemoryError (Java Heap Size).
So I'm just trying to increase the Heap Size Creator uses, but it won't work.
After reading a lot of posts and online-articles, I tried the following:
1) I changed the -Xms and -Xmx options (to 512m) both in
$CREATOR/SunAppServer8/domains/creator/config/domain.xml and
$CREATOR/etc/creator.conf (this file also points to the Creator built-in JDK)
2) additionally I tried to start Creator from the console with the respective option:
./creator -J-Xmx512m
The memory toolbar shows the right value, but when I use
System.out.println("JVM maximum memory:\t"+Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory()/1024+" KB\n");it always says 64 MB, no matter which option I chose in the config-files.
So how can I increase this value?

this was an important hint. Additionally I had to create a new "Java Class Library" project with a copy of the needed files (those that are not dependent on the Application Server). Then I could use the option you mentioned.
Unfortunately, when I try to run the file with
java -jar FILENAME.jarit won't work, because the archive is not complete: MANIFEST.MF lacks the main-class and all involved libraries.
I managed to add the main-class attribute manually, but adding all library references seems to be very error-prone.
So does anyone know if I did something wrong or if this is a bug of Creator?
