  • How do I uncheck "This solved my question" on the Apple Support Communities forum?

I checked an answer as "this solved my problem" when it actually did not, and I don't want anyone to be mislead.
How do I uncheck "This solved my question" on the Apple Support Communities forum?

You can't uncheck it. You'll need to post the question again.
You could also just add the comment that it was not actually answered.

  • I recently posted a question via the apple support medium. I was unable to respond to the utterly pointless and unhelpful response that I received. Anyone else having the same problem

I recently posted a question in the apple forums and received a response that was less than helpful.  Unfortunately, due to the options available to me. I was not able to respond to my respondent adequately enough to hope to receive a meaningful answer to my question.  is this the norm with apple problems????

If you don't have the reply buttons in the screenshot you might have been timed out. If you started a reply copy it, refresh the page log back in. You get timed out every 30 minutes.

  • How to I stop getting email from the Apple Support Communities?

How do I stop getting email from the Apple Support Communities?  I am being innundated with hundreds of emails daily.  Help~~

If you are getting them from a forum as a whole (as opposed to just individual threads), then towards the top right of that forum page make sure that it says 'receive email notifications' in the Actions box :
If it says 'stop email notifications' then click on it so as to stop them

That happens. Many Original Posters don't reply. Just keep helping.
When I get a thank you (without points) that gives me a buzz. With points, a bigger buzz.

  • How do I unsubscribe from the Apple Support Communities?

Please advise me on how to unsubscribe from the  Apple Support Communities.

Click here and turn off the email notifications. If you don't want them all turned off, go to each of the areas you want to unfollow and click the Following button at the top right corner; if you're running ad-blocking software, you may need to temporarily disable it.

  • How to delete "Other" partition in yellow color that appears when I connect my devices to the laptop, it's a giant one (4 GB)

Hello, I would like to know how to delete the yellow partition named "Other" (in italian "Altro") that appears when I connect all my devices to the laptop. This partition in Ipad comes with 4 Gb that for an instrument of 16 seems a bit too also because it far exceeds anything else. So far not been able to find useful information and is a very common problem. Thank you.

Thank you very much, but it's not so simple. I read somewhere in this same forum that:
I quote: "That large of "other" is corrupt data. Try restoring your phone from backup first, followed by syncing your content back to the phone. If restoring from backup does not fix things, you will have to restore as a new device to get rid of it. There is no way to directly delete it, other than restoring your phone."
First of all it's terrible, (but we know that itunes is very far to work properly, it's a store) and how many times a day we should make a restoring? and if it does not have we to buy another device? I cannot believe that there aren't other solutions.

  • HT1918 Hi iive tried changing my billing information on settings and still referring me to the apple support website anybody no why this  is happening??

Hi I've tried changing my billing information on settings and iTunes and it's still referring me to the apple support website anybody no why this is happening?

If you mean that you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them why the message is appearing (we are fellow users, we won't know why) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Here's what changed in the 'Apple Support Communities Use Agreement'

The terms for this website were revised 24 April 2014; they were previously revised 7 May 2013; they were previously revised 6 April 2011.
If you'd like to know exactly what changed, see this 'diff', which shows exactly what changed.
Basically, Apple just added this (as points 12 and 13 to the 'General' section :
If you provide any ideas, suggestions, or recommendations on this site regarding Apple’s products, technologies or services (“Feedback”), Apple may use such Feedback and incorporate it in Apple products, technologies, and services without paying royalties and without any other obligations or restrictions.
For questions or problems regarding your Apple Support Communities account, please post a question in the Using Apple Support Communities forum, or email [email protected]
For all versions, see Apple Support Communities Use Agreement
    Helpful?

Thanks; I may be wrong of course, but I thought para. 12 was there all along and only 13 was added (which, FWIW, is an excellent idea in my humble opinion). Also, the ToU are available by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page here.

  • My MBP suffers from DAILY "kernel panic" attacks.  This has happened ever since I downloaded Lion.  It appears to happen much more often than the Apple support page suggests it does.  Once the MBP re-boots, it works fine, zips along in all programs.

My MBP suffers from "kernel panic" attacks on an almost daily basis.  This has occured ever since I downloaded Lion.  The Apple support page suggests that this is a rare occurance, but it happens to me almost every day.  Most often, if I let the computer go to sleep or close the lid, I'll find that it won't "wake up" without a complete re-boot.  It always sends a report to Apple and for a couple of days I thought the issue was resolved, but now it's happening again with increasing regularity.  I've reinstalled Lion once already... Any suggestions?

We can't help without the KP. In the meantime, see

  • How do I change my name that's seen by everyone?

Hello - I see that my name is listed, and want to change it. When going into 'My Public Profile' it says my name under 'Alias', but there doesn't appear to be any way to change that. Then, it also says that my is hidden, which is not. How can I give myself a screen name, instead of using the name that's listed? Thank you.

    Hi Kristina!
Your Hidden Name:, under Alias:, is only seen by you, in your User Profile.
And although you can't change the Alias of the account you are using, you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
But your Level(1), Points(45), Total Posts(182), Total Posts Online(160) and Registered Date(10/18/05), will not be transferred.
In the new account, your Post Counts, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old Alias.
After you quit using the old account, those posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the old account, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
    Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
    To create a new account,
Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.
-How Do I Create My Account?
If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
-To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page. In the resulting page, click the "create one" link at the bottom of the page, then click "create one" in the subsequent page and follow the instructions to create an Apple ID. For more information, see the Apple ID FAQ page.
Those instructions, and more info, can also be viewed by clicking on ?Help & Terms of Use, in the right column of Discussions pages.
    Good Luck!

  • Changing Author names that appear on iTunes.

I recently took over hosting duties for my show and got a new co-host, how do I change the author names on iTunes to the current hosts?

The name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag; if, as is usually the case, you are not hand-writing the feed but using a program or online service to create your feed you will need to change it wherever the original name was entered, and then re-publish. It will take the Store a few days to catch up.

  • What are the boxes that appear when I scroll over them at the top and bottom of a Pages document, and how do I get rid of them?

While types a blank document on pages, there are "invisible" boxes at the top and bottom of each page, and they only appear when I scroll over them. Does anyone know what these boxes are, and how i can get rid of them from my paper?

Those are the Header and Footer spaces. You remove them using the Document Inspector. Uncheck the "Headers" and "Footers" checkboxes shown checked here:

  • How reliable is the Apple "check availability" web page?

I have a couple friends that checked the web site for availability of a 16gb black 3g. The web site stated " not available". They even called the store to confirm. However, when they stopped by the apple store at lunch they had plenty of 16gb black 3g. So how reliable is the web site? Has anyone else experienced this? I live over an hour away and I want to know for sure they have 3gs available before I drive that far.

The availability page reports shipments in transit to the selected Apple Store. Sometimes shipments do not match what's expected (they may get more of one type, less of another), sometimes weather delays prevent shipments from arriving as scheduled. It's an estimate, nothing more.
Unfortunately, the bottom line is that you can't +"know for sure"+. The only sure bet is to order one at an AT&T Store via Direct Fulfillment - then, when you are informed your phone has arrived, it will be there. But if you're in a hurry, a trip to the Apple Store would be quicker, if they do, in fact, have them when you arrive.
As of late last week in my area, there were still long lines prior to store opening (>30 people) - more people in line than phones in the shipment. So even though they are listed as available, they may not be by the time you get there.
    Hope this helps...
