How do I connect a LiveCycle PDF form data to an Excel File
I have a Livecycle Time sheet form that's being distributed in the field, what we want to do is be able to save the data directly to an EXCEL database, we want the data to auto populate the excel sheet with the forma data once the field user hit submit or email button.
Thanks.
Hi,
You should have a look at Stefan Cameron's site, which has many solutions for setting up data connections. Search for spreadsheet generally and here: http://forms.stefcameron.com/2006/09/18/connecting-a-form-to-a-database/.
However please note that if the users have Reader, then the form would need to be Reader Enabled using the full LC Reader Extensions server component. Extending the form in Acrobat will not work.
Hope that helps,
Niall

How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?
I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?
You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools. -
Connecting a LiveCycle PDF form to an Excel File
Hi folks,
There is some example or good tutorial about this subject?
Thank you,
YairThis is a pretty good start. You need to create an ODBC connection to your excel file:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/index.htm?content=000553.html
Failing that - could you save your Excel as CSV and import it? -
How do I submit PDF Form data as an XML file rather than as an XFDF file?
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make this statement work?
var cSubLine = this.getField("SurnameInits").value;
var cBody1 = "Main Instruction data file attached";
var cDest = this.getField("DestEmail").value;
var cEmailURL = "mailto:" + cDest + "?subject=" + cSubLine + "&body=" + cBody1;
this.submitForm({cURL: cEmailURL, cSubmitAs: "XML"});
No file is attached the email that is generated so I assume there is something wrong with the submitForm parameters...If I change XML to XFDF, it works fine.Try this...
this.submitForm({cURL: cEmailURL, cSubmitAs:"XML", cCharSet:"utf-8"}); -
How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?
How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form? I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings. They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name. I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?
Thanks.If you reader extend a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.

How do I get PDF forms to export to excel in the desired order?
How do I get PDF forms to export to excel in the desired order?
Here is what I have done:
As taken from another post:
Choose Forms > Manage Form Data > Merge Data Files Into Spreadsheet.
In the Export Data From Multiple Forms dialog box, click Add Files.
In the Select file Containing Form Data dialog box, select a file format option in File Of Type option (Acrobat Form Data Files or All Files). Then locate the form files that you want to merge into the spreadsheet, select them, and click Select.
Repeat the previous step to add form data files that are in other locations, as needed.
Click Export. Then select a folder and filename for the spreadsheet, and click Save.
In the Export Progress dialog box, click either View File Now to open the spreadsheet file or Close Dialog to return to Acrobat."
The problem now is that Adobe populates Excel in ABC order of the form, based off of the name of each box in the form. For example, if my form has three text boxes, named A, B, and C, then Adobe will export to Excel as such:
Row 1 = A B C
Row 2 = data entered data entered data entered
where 'data entered' is whatever the user typed into the form boxes. But what if I want a different order for exporting, and I don't want to rename my text boxes? What if I want:
Row 1 = C B A
Row 2 = data entered data entered data entered ?
Is there a way to do this in acrobat x or xi?
ThanksI don't have time to test right now, but there was a change with Acrobat 10 where it exports according to the tab order, which you may have to set manually, so give that a shot. Otherwise, you'll have to process the file after it's exported if you need the fields in a particular order. This wouldn't be too difficult to do with something like a VBS or JS script in Windows.

How do you scan in a PDF form to make it electronic and have the fields electronic?
how do you scan in a PDF form to make it electronic and have the fields electronic?
If you have Acrobat, you can create a PDF from a scan by selecting: File > Create > PDF from Scanner
This is for Acrobat 11. Previous version of Acrobat have something similar.
In order for Acrobat to be able to automatically add form fields, you will have to at least perform OCR on the PDF, but I would not expect good results. There's only so much it can do and starting from a scan is iffy. You will probably have to create the form fields yourself using the various form tools in form editing mode: Tools > Forms > Edit -
How to use F4 help on PDF form
Hello,
I'm using Adobe Interactive Form with WebDynpro for Java.
I'd like to use F4 value help on Adobe Form.
Does anyone know how to implement F4 help on PDF form ?
Regards,
Koji.Hi,
SAP Note: 1013227.
But you should have ZCI based forms. Note: 1055911 and 1042394.
It always makes sense if you specify the NetWeaver SP release you are on along with any other information that you think is important.

Submit pdf form data to sql database
Where I can find detailed information on the process of sending data from pdf form stored on the website to the sql database stored on web server ?? Where I can find some samples I could use to build my form and related script(s).
Thanks for advice.
TonyHi Paul,
Thank you very much for your quick response. I can not retrieve your
attachments, so please send them by email. Thank you.
What does it mean that DSN has to be set up on each machine which will run
the form ??? Does it mean for each person who will use the form ?? or
rather once on the server where the form is hosted ??? It will be a bit
difficult to use if it will have to be installed on each user computers as
some users may not be happy to do it. If this is the case do you have any
solution you would recommend which will collect the data from the form
without asking users to do anything special on their computers ????

submit pdf form data to sql database
If you want the form to contact the DB directly you will have to set up a
DSN on each of the machines that will run the form. Note that this wil
only work on Windows machines. Also the form must be launched for the
script to run (you mentioned the PDF was stored on the web server). I have
some samples that show how to deal with a DB but the attachments do not
seem to be working correctly on the forum yet. If you cannot retrieve them
post your email and I will email them to you directly.

How do I convert emails to PDF from Outlook to make a file on the PC?
how do I convert emails to PDF from Outlook to make a file on the PC
It is always tough for anyone when we need to save our emails into one file for future reference. You could either do it manually or can use a simple tool to Convert all your messages into one pdf file . This Single pdf file can be used if we need to read any past email. you can easily convert oulook to pdf in no time. If you are converting several email messages, you can either save them as separate files with initial layout fully intact or combine them into one big PDF document.

How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from a text file?
I have several hundred text files that contain a bunch of information. I only need six values from each file and ideally I need them as columns in an excel file.
How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from the text files and either create a new text file or excel file with the info? I have looked all over but can't find a solution. If anyone could please help I would be eternally grateful!!! If there is another, better solution than automator, please let me know!
Example of File Contents:
Link Time =
DD/MMM/YYYY
Random
Text
161 179
bytes of CODE memory (+ 68 range fill )
16 789
bytes of DATA memory (+ 59 absolute )
1 875
bytes of XDATA memory (+ 1 855 absolute )
90 783
bytes of FARCODE memory
What I would like to have as a final file:
EXCEL COLUMN1
Column 2
Column3
Column4
Column5
Column6
MM/DD/YYYY
filename1
161179
16789
1875
90783
MM/DD/YYYY
filename2
xxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxx
xxxxx
MM/DD/YYYY
filename3
xxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxx
xxxxx
Is this possible? I can't imagine having to go through each and every file one by one. Please help!!!Hello
You may try the following AppleScript script. It will ask you to choose a root folder where to start searching for *.map files and then create a CSV file named "out.csv" on desktop which you may import to Excel.
set f to (choose folder with prompt "Choose the root folder to start searching")'s POSIX path
if f ends with "/" then set f to f's text 1 thru -2
do shell script "/usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - " & f's quoted form & " > ~/Desktop/out.csv
use strict;
use open IN => ':crlf';
chdir $ARGV[0] or die qq($!);
local $/ = qq(\\0);
my @ff = map {chomp; $_} qx(find . -type f -iname '*.map' -print0);
local $/ = qq(\\n);
# CSV spec
# - record separator is CRLF
# - field separator is comma
# - every field is quoted
# - text encoding is UTF-8
local $\\ = qq(\\015\\012); # CRLF
local $, = qq(,); # COMMA
# print column header row
my @dd = ('column 1', 'column 2', 'column 3', 'column 4', 'column 5', 'column 6');
print map { s/\"/\"\"/og; qq(\").$_.qq(\"); } @dd;
# print data row per each file
while (@ff) {
my $f = shift @ff; # file path
if ( ! open(IN, '<', $f) ) {
warn qq(Failed to open $f: $!);
next;
$f =~ s%^.*/%%og; # file name
@dd = ('', $f, '', '', '', '');
while (<IN>) {
chomp;
$dd[0] = \"$2/$1/$3\" if m%Link Time\\s+=\\s+([0-9]{2})/([0-9]{2})/([0-9]{4})%o;
($dd[2] = $1) =~ s/ //g if m/([0-9 ]+)\\s+bytes of CODE\\s/o;
($dd[3] = $1) =~ s/ //g if m/([0-9 ]+)\\s+bytes of DATA\\s/o;
($dd[4] = $1) =~ s/ //g if m/([0-9 ]+)\\s+bytes of XDATA\\s/o;
($dd[5] = $1) =~ s/ //g if m/([0-9 ]+)\\s+bytes of FARCODE\\s/o;
last unless grep { /^$/ } @dd;
close IN;
print map { s/\"/\"\"/og; qq(\").$_.qq(\"); } @dd;
EOF
Hope this may help,
