How do I connect ColdFusion Admin to MySQL

I have CF8 working now and I can render CF code but I am
having trouble getting CF8
on my MacBook Pro to talk to a MySQL database.
In the CF Administrator when I choose a datasource I choose a
MySQL datbase name
and select the MySQL driver 4/5 --- then what do I do.
What folder do I put my MySQL database in? What path do I
enter?
I am so in the dark on this (because I've never done this in
my life).
I'm not worried about the cfquerey code what is frustarting
is how do I
connect CF Administrator Datasource selector to a MySQL
database.
It seems like it should be so simple.
1. I am new to MySQL so I don't even know where the database
I create in MySQL is.
I type in pwd and that doesn't work in MySQL.
2. Is there a web page that shows the process of selecting a
database in MySQL and connecting
to it through the CF Administrator. I get weird error
messages when I try to submit a MySQL
database.
Blake

have you installed mysql and verified it is running?
mysql is NOT a file-based db - there is no FILE to put in any
FOLDER.
mysql is a DB SERVER - it runs on a certain server on a
particular PORT
(default is localhost:3306), under a username and password
combination
you set up. once you have mysql installed, this is all you
need to tell
cf to connect to a mysql db: server and port, username and
password.
make sure you set up users and grant them only basic
permissions
(select, insert, update and possibly delete) for your db's in
myslq and
then use those users' credentials for the cf dsn setup - do
not use the
ROOT user with all privileges for your cf DSNs.
in light of recent cf-targeted sql injection attacks i will
advise you
to run mysql in NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES mode.
mysql.com has very good online and downloadable docs.

  • How can I connect to MySQL external database

    Hello.
    I have a SAP system running in SQL Server 2003.
    I need to connect to external MySQL DB., to operate with this information in ABAP program.
    I have done the step necesary... I mean I go to DBCO transaction and configure the connection like this:
    DB CONNECTION --> AFIS
    DBMS --> MSS
    user name --> xxxxxx
    DBpass -->xxxxxx / xxxxxx
    Conn Info -->MSSQL_SERVER=192.168.1.233 MSSQL_DBNAME=alliance OBJECT_SOURCE=alliance
    I do a test program, when I do the statement CONNECT TO, sy-subrc 0 and connection = DEFAULT... I mean, with this form I cannot connect to MySQL Database...
    Can you help me to do this?? I think the problem it's the connection string in DBCO... but I'm not sure...,
    Would be possible to connect by MySQL ODBC??? I mean , installing the ODBC driver in my SAP server, and using this in ABAP Program??
    Thks.
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
    cod_modelo(20),
    END OF wa.

    > It's for it, that when I go to DBCO... in DBMS ---... I can select Oracle, MSSQLServer, DB2... for this Databases..., exists the library (lib_dbsl)???
    yes, for all those databases exists the database interface library.
    > In resume:
    >  IT'S NOT POSSIBLE CONNECT TO MYSQL!!! ... I cannot believe it!!!...
    Well - as far as I remember there were some times ago efforts to port SAP applications to MySQL. That would explain why there's also a file "DDLMYS.TPL" created if you execute R3ldctl during a system copy - amongst DDL files for all other databases. I believe this was at the time MySQL was promoting SAPDB/MaxDB.
    MySQL is historically not a database engine for software, that requires transactional integrity; there were extensions to support that (InnoDB or others) and there was no customer demand in getting MySQL as engine for SAP applications. And only develop an interface to be able to connect to an external MySQL engine is not worth the effort.
    However, there is hope Some BusinessObjects applications also run with and against MySQL engines, depending on how the strategy to integrate those into the SAP software stack there may (or may not) be an interface for that database in the future.

  • How to add Connection URL properties - MySQL example - SOLVED

    As I've spent a long time trying to fix this problem, I thought I would share the solution with the community
    OK, here's the scenario - I was getting some sort of error with the SQL being generated by Crystal so I wanted to turn on the debug options for the MySQL JDBC driver.  This is done by adding properties to the connection URL e.g.
    I changed
    jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    to
    jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test?profileSQL=true&dumpQueriesOnException=true
    The problem is that when I try and use this connection string at runtime, I get an error from the JDBC driver saying that the URL is badly formed and that the parameter
    dumpQueriesOnException=true?user=
    is wrong.
    As you can see, this quite cleary points to some mangling going on inside CR4E that is not taking account of the fact that the URL may already contain a querystring so it should append & rather than ?.
    After much messing I found that this is what you need to set your Connection String to;
    jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test?user={userid}&password={password}&
    profileSQL=true&dumpQueriesOnException=true
    I presume this is an issue with a lot of databases that expect stuff in the query string of the URL.
    I hope it saves someone else some time.

    Hi karlo Smojver,
    I am also facing same issue can you please explain me how do you resolved.

  • How to Connect login form to MySql Db connectin Pls..tellme

    How to Connect login form to Mysql Db connection Pls..tell me

    Specify variables for username and password and connect with the MySQL database using the mysql_connect() function. The username “root” does not require a password by default.
    Specify the server parameter of the mysql_connect() method as localhost:3306.
    $username='root';
    $password='';
    $connection = mysql_connect('localhost:3306', $username, $password);
    If a connection does not get established output the error message using the mysql_error() function.
    if (!$connection) {
    $e = mysql_error($connection);
    echo "Error in connecting to MySQL Database.".$e;

  • How can I connect to a different database schema,other than adobe?

    I'm building an application where I want to use a different database for it,for storing additional data for the users(different from "edcprincipaluserentity" table in "adobe" database stores)..How I can connect to my database schema created in MySQL from Workbench,to assign tasks to my users,using the Process Management/Assign Task service?

    You can only assign task to user that are known by the LiveCycle User Manager.
    When you configure LiveCycle, you can tell it where you want to get the users from. They can be created them locally in the local database, or synchronized from an LDAP directory in which case it'll read the users from LDAP and make a copy of some of the properties to the internal LiveCycle database.
    Bottom line, all users have an id (in the edcprincipalentity table) in the adobe database.
    If you need your users to come from a different database, then you need to customize the SPI (security provider interface) so that you can synchronize the users coming from your external database. Again, this is a customization since out of the box, we don't synchronize against external database. But it is possible, the API is there and other customers have done it.
    I hope this clarifies things a bit.

  • How do I connect into my mac using Apple Remote Desktop

    I have version 2 of this but am not that network-savvy. How can I connect to my G5 at work, from home, and vice versa?

    If a user is an administrator on the computer they can do almost any thing they want.
    You could install Apple Server Admin Tools onto your computer. One of the applications included in the tool set is Workgroup Manager. Work group manager can be used to create/modify MCX. Ether on the local computer or remotely on an MCX compatbale directory server. (such as open directoy) MCX can be used to force a specific setting for many plist controled features.
    You can use it to force a setting like time till screen saver starts. Require password when waking from sleep/screen saver. Force login window isntead of auot-login on reboot/startup.
    The nice thing about using a server, such as an open directory, is that it's very easy to push out MCX policy updates. Of corse you would have to update your computers to the directory server.
    If you don't have a directory server, and don't want a directory server. Then you can use work group manager to modifies the local policy of a comptuer. you can then use a unix commands to extract the actually MCX settings. You could then use ARD Send Unix command to apply the MCX settings to one or more remote computer.
    ether way, an admin on the computer could still remove the MCX. But the user would have to figure out where setting is coming from. and then figure out how to remove the setting.

  • How do I connect my second PC or Laptop to main PC with router?

    I recently bought a new Desktop PC and had 2 laptops and now have an older Desktop PC!
    I also bought a WRT150 Wireless-N router to connect to the enternet with both my PC and laptops , to play games , share pictures betwin my PC with friends and family.Previously I lived in place where no one know what does network word mean...so I'm new to enthernet and network and I have a question! Once I installed the software from instalation CD and succesfuly connected to the enternet trough the router how do I connect my other Desktop PC and Laptops to the router?Do I need to install that software to my other computers? How do I check if I need addition devices? Can any one write a step by step instruction for me or give me a link to the page if it was wroten already?

    Ok so the new desktop which is wired has Vista.  You have 2 laptops with what OS?  Are they wired or wireless?  The older PC has what OS and what network card (wired or wireless)?
    As you know Vista is a new operating system and is not compatible with some routers yet so I would have another PC with Windows XP (with service pack 2) wired to your router.  Now the information on the network card that is needed is what type it it?  Wired or wireless which is easy to tell by if it needs to be plugged in or not.  Most wireless network cards come with a driver and software so that is the software I am referring to.
    When setting your wireless security up some  older operating systems can not use WPA  or WPA2 so they have to use WEP which is not that good bet better then nothing at all.  The SSID has to be something other then linksys so you can identify your wireless network.  So when you get all this information also post your  router model/version and how you have it configured as far as the SSID and DHCP range, internet connection type (DSL or Cable) ,  and security.  Don't worry you system will still be secure as long as you DO NOT leave your routers password as admin and do not tell anyone your routers password for any reason.

  • How do i create a styled spry mysql driven menu using dreamweaver cs4?

    How do i create a styled spry mysql driven menu using dreamweaver cs4?
    I have cs4. I gave up on using MS sql as a datasource. I finally got a php successfull connection in my PHP web page.
    I would like a nice video tutorial for creating a dynamic menu.
    I guess i can style it by attaching a css file to the page. Are their any already designed css files out there in some online area?
    i am not a good designer. so i would like to simply have a collection of menu_style.css files and choose what looks good.
    But first i need to build the spry menu from the mysql database.
    Any help is apprechiated.
    My first choice was to maintain the data in an MS sql server file. If i could directly attach to an ms sql datasource then that would be the best option.
    I dont think i want to have to re-generate an XML datasource each time i add or modify the menu. I would like to maintain the MS Sql or mySql file instead.
    If i could generate an XML datasource from the MS Sql database then I may even prefere that, but i have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do that and not had any success. So i prefere working in MS sql but would settle for mySql if i had to.
    Thanks
    Jerry

    To create a dynamic menu take a look here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/MenuFromNestedData.html#
    The XML file for the above menu looks like this

  • How can I connect to more than one computer from external ip

    Hi
    I have been using remote desktop for some time and have a port forward set so I can connect to our mail server from anywhere else externally from my macbook pro, but how can I connect to other macs in the office when there only seems to be the two ports available for use 5900 and 3283. I can only port forward to one computer? How can I connect to multiple computers when not within the same network? are there other ports available?
    Cheers
    Tony

    If your workstations get their addresses from an NAT device rather than being "real", the ports also need to be forwarded in the router to the workstation's internal IP address.  ARD uses port 3283 for the reporting and updating function, so if your Macs are getting their IP addresses through NAT, since you can only forward a port to a single workstation, you can only get reports, push package/files to etc. for a single workstation.
    ARD uses the VNC protocol for observation and control, though, and there are a range of IP addresses for that protocol, starting with 5900. ARD uses 5900 by default, so that port would be forwarded to the first workstation. You would, I believe,  need to install third-party VNC software on the systems (since the ARD client cannot listen on any port other than 5900 while other VNC systems can be set for other ports such as 5901, 5902, etc. You would then  forward 5901 to the second workstation (and on to 5902, 5903, etc.). You can then use the following information:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=RemoteDesktop/3.0/en/ARDC715.html  to connect.
    The only other options are: 1) to run the ARD administrator on a workstation on the network, and then take control of that system from outside, either via VNC or another copy of ARD, or 2) set up a virtual private network (VPN) so that when you connect from outside, your admin system is officially part of the local network.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can i use embbed version of mysql in java?

    Hi all,
    How can i create embedded version of mysql in my java application? is it possible to do it in java if yes then how please little hint required thanks in advance

    this is technically possible but may be rather difficult.
    why exactly do you want to embed the database in your application?
    have you considered using a pure java embedded database?
    i think there is probably a better and easier solution to this.
    if you MUST do it this way then look at this http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/libmysqld_overview.html
    and then have fun with JNI http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/JDCBook/jni.html
    essentially you will have to have the mysql embedded server which is in C++ and connect to them from Java with JNI.
    this is why I strongly suggest you consider the first two questions i asked because this seems like a lot of work to probably solve a simple problem.

  • How to create a new admin user in oracle 9i?.

    Hi I am new to oracle. I want to set up a new database for my application.
    How to create a new admin user in oracle 9i?. I would like to have a new schema. where I can create tables for my application from scratch.

    If I understand your question correctly:
    You need to be connected to the database with the user SYS.
    open a command-line session and do the following to create an Oracle user with DBA option other than SYS.
    C:\>sqlplus /nolog
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Oct 14 08:46:13 2005
    Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation.  All rights reserved.
    SQL> conn  /  as sysdba
    Connected.
    SQL>
    SQL> create user test identified by pass;
    User created.
    SQL> grant create session to test;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> alter user test account unlock;
    User altered.
    SQL> grant dba to test with admin option;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> conn test/pass
    Connected.
    SQL>
    SQL> sho user
    USER is "TEST"
    SQL>Now you have a user with username 'test' and password 'pass' with DBA role with Admin option
    Tony Garabedian
    From now on you can connect directly with SQL*Plus no need for comman-line. Just provide the username/password and you're logged in.

    I have used connect() but still the same.
    One more thing I am(Machine1) in VPN network and the system from which i am trying accessing admin server is in client location(Machine2).
    In machine1 i have two network connections one is Ethernet adapter and other is PPP adapter - (Is this creating a problem)
