How do I create a window from an applet?

I am trying to create a window application from an applet. The window that I need should meet the following criteria:
1. The window application will be created when I click on one of the buttons in the applet.
2. If I close the applet from the browser, the window application should not be affected.
3. I should be able to close the window by clicking the X icon on the upper right corner.
4. The window application works by itself. It does not need to interact with the applet any more.
Is there any example similar to what I am looking for available?

1. Easy.
Button myButton = new Button( "a button" ) ;
myButton.addActionListener( new ActionListener()
public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent e )
Frame myFrame = new Frame( "a frame" ) ;
myFrame.show() ;
add( myButton ) ;2. Short answer, can't be done. Long answer, I think it can be done with something called "Java WebReady", but I don't how. (needs JDK 1.4, I think)
3. Easy. You just have to add a window listener to the frame.
class closeWindowListener extends WindowAdapter
     private Frame myFrame ;
     closeWindowListener( Frame myFrame )
          this.myFrame = myFrame ;
     public void windowClosing( WindowEvent e )
          myFrame.dispose() ;
myFrame.addWindowListener( new closeWindowListener( myFrame ) ) ;
myFrame.show() ;4. Fine with me, but keep in mind the difficulty of #2.

  • How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"? (Library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes for Mac. Now getting update wars between Mac and Windows versions of the player.

    How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"?
    My library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes on a Mac. I can connect from wife's Windows laptop using iTunes for Windows but every time I do, it Updates iTunes Library. Next time I log in from my Mac it Updates iTunes Library in return. It appears I'm experiencing "Update Wars" between the Mac and Windows versions of iTunes. I would like to allow my wife to stream iTunes songs to her new laptop but I don't want any updates from this source... prefer to manage the library from my Mac and not allow Windows to do any thing other than listen to existing playlists.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

    Connect the PC to the library on the NAS. Wait while "updated".
    Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure the media folder is correctly pointed at the media folder on the NAS. If not correct, close iTunes, wait a few moments, then open iTunes again.
    Close iTunes on the PC. Do not open iTunes on the Mac.
    Copy the library files, iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork into an empty iTunes folder on the PC, for example C:\iTunes.
    Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down SHIFT. Keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the copied .itl file, e.g. C:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
    The library should now work properly on the PC, however check the setting for the media folder. If needs be correct, close iTunes and reopen.
    Open iTunes on the Mac. It will update again, but that should be last time.

    In general, in imovie Share to Media Browser or Share to iTunes.
    Then open iDVD. Open the Media Browser in iDVD (at bottom right of window). Navigate to your movies and you should see the movie you made. Drag it in to the iDVD project.

  • Creating a popup browser window from an applet

    Hi, in a java applet that I am developing i use AppletContext.showDocument to load a web-page. The thing is i want this window to be a popup, devoid of toolbar and statusbar, etc. do you have any idea on how i could accomplish this?
    I tried to do it with javascript, but i could only create new pop-up child windows of the html file that contained the method for opening pop-ups, i could not change the parent window itself to become a popup.
    If you have any idea on how to either create a pop-up type window from an applet, or make the current window into a popup i would be grateful to hear it.

    The only way I can think of is to use JSObject to call JavaScript on the current page & have JavaScript do a window.open

    Hi,
    Thank you for your subscription.  If you are Acrobat Plus subscriber then you can extract the pages from the PDF file using Tools> Pages> Extract pages.
    You can find "Tools" at right top once you open your PDF file in Acroat.
    If you are subscriber to PDF Pack then please download Acrobat XI Plus from www.adobe.com.
    PDF Pack service offers "Convert to PDF", "Export from PDF"(to Word/PowerPoint/Excel/RTF formats so that you can edit the exported files) and "Combine Files" (combine your files into a single PDF file).
    Please let me know if you have any quesitons.
    thank you.

  • How do I create an object from a filename?

    I'm traversing directories and storing a list of files in a File array. Then I traverse the array looking at the extension of the file. If it is .java then I would like to instantiate it as a class so that I may pass the new object to another function which will examine its methods. I've tried Class.forName(file.getCanonicalPath()) and it throws a ClassNotFound exception. How can I create an object from a valid filename, please?

A class name is not a file name, and it doesn't have an extension. As stated in the other reply, you'll need to have the class on your class path.

    I think you may be mixing up Acrobat Professional/Acrobat Standard (which includes creation of PDFs in many ways, including scanning), with Adobe Reader (which does not include PDF creation at all, but can use Adobe's CreatePDF web service).
    I think you used to use Acrobat Professional 9, and so what you need is Acrobat Pro XI.

    You could open it in the XPS application and check print preview to see if it comes out as TSN suggests (and likely will). You can go to the printer properties and adjust the page size accordingly.
    You can also use the cropping in Acrobat to size all the pages and then use the Protect>Remove Hidden option to remove the cropped area.
