  • How do I create groups in my address book

    I recently upgraded to an iPhone. Can groups of contacts be made on iPhone 4 or iPad?  I cannot sync with my Mac computer because the operating system is old...Previously I was able to create Groups in my Address Book and then sync with my iphone 3.

    Sorry No you can't.
    If you have groups in the Address book on a Mac they will sync to your iPad.
    Apps are available that might help see.

  • How do you bcc groups from the address book in MAC OS X?

    I am tryign to do a group email from the address book in MAC OS X, everytime I highlight and drag the contacts to my email they don't attached. The only way it appears to work is when I email group but this goes into the TO field.
    Any ideas in what I can do?

    Mea culpa.  Yes, the Cc/Bcc disclosure button IS to the left. I mis-typed that. (stupid keyboard!)
    I'm at a loss as to why this is not working for you.
    I will tell you the versions of the players involoved that I am using are:
    • OS X 10.8.1
    • Mail 6.0
    • Contacts (Address Book) 7.0
    And while I realize that you are running OS X 10.7.4, the process has been similar for some time now.
    I would run Software Update and make sure that my System, Mail and Address Book apps are all up to date. That is NOT to say you should upgrade to Mt. Lion, just ensure that there are no outstanding updates available for your current setup.
    Then run Disk Utility and perform the Repair Permissions routine on your startup disk. When that process is finished, reboot your machine and run the Mail app again.
    It would be nice if it's just a permissions issue or can be fixed with a software update.  Let us know if any of this helps.

    I haven't seen too many questions like this on this forum.  Did you also try the photoshop forums?

  • I am trying to create a group in the address book.  When I drag over the contacts from the contact list they duplicate in the address book. I am using "Lion"

    When I try to create a group from the address book, when I drag over the names from the contact list, the names duplicate in the address book.

    Hi cavu10horses,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has instructions for changing a contact's photo using a photo from iPhoto's Faces feature:
    Contacts: Add or change contact pictures
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11580
    Select a contact or your own card, and then double-click the picture well.
    Select a picture:
    Drag an image to the picture well.
    Click Camera to take a picture.
    If you have pictures in iPhoto, click the Faces button to use a face from iPhoto.
    If the contact is linked (it’s in multiple accounts, but displayed only once in Contacts) and has multiple account pictures, click Linked.
    Click Edit to edit the picture.
    To zoom in and out of the picture, drag the slider. Drag the picture to change which part of it is visible.
    To rotate the picture, hold down the Option key while you click and drag the picture.
    To apply special effects, click the Effects Gallery button and choose an effect.
    Click Done.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • HT2486 How do I create a second, separate address book on Mac?

    How do I create a second, separate address book on my iMac? Is it possible?

    Unless you are willing to continually do an export of one contacts database and import of the other, switching back and forth, you'll either need to use some third-party contacts application or maintain two separate user accounts in Mac OS X. The built-in Address Book/Contacts application does not allow multiple address books.
    Regards.

  • How do we create two completely separate address books?

    Under our mailboxes folder, we have created two separate email accounts. How do we create an address book for each email account? (they need to be completely separate from each other)

    This is easy. You can do an export (backup) and import of the address book. So get one you like, export it. Create a new one, export it. Now just import the one you want to work with. Just be sure to export it again before you import the other one, in case you have made changes.
    I do this for separate mailing lists, etc.

  • An efficient means of n naming and organizing Groups in the address book

    Hello,
    First, I hope you are having a nice day. If not, I hope it gets better soon!
    Next, I would like to provide the following before explaining:
    Here is an article regarding a novel means of uploading pictures with descriptions from a Mac to Flickr without a "third party" application.
    A novel way to upload photos from a Mac, with a complete description, to Flickr [http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978195922].
    A very simple example:
    Possible list of names in the "Groups" section:
    National Politicians
    California Politicians
    Texas Politicians
    Colorado Politicians
    In the address book, the above would be organized in the following order with "N" names between. "N" is the other alphabetical names:
    California Politicians
    <N>
    Colorado Politicians
    <N>
    National Politicians
    <N>
    Texas Politicians.
    *Greater Efficiency*
    In my opinion, the following is more efficient means of naming and organizing the address book:
    Politicians.National
    Politicians.California
    Politicians.Texas
    Politicians.Colorado
    As long as the spelling of the first description and period are included, the latter will be organized as follows with "n" "group names" where "group name" is the "Politicians." group with a "name" between:
    Politicians.California
    <n>
    Politicians.Colorado
    <n>
    Politicians.National
    <n>
    Politicians.Texas
    If the above four are the only names in the "Politician." "group name", the list would be organized as follows:
    <N>
    Politicians.California
    Politicians.Colorado
    Politicians.National
    Politicians.Texas
    <N>
    * The Colon and Problem with "linking" in Mail*
    As a side note, I have noticed some Library of Congress links do not "link" in Mail. As an example, I recently noticed that I could not "link" the following "URL" because there was a ":" at the end. If the ":" is not present, the URL will lead to a different page. I will be contacting Apple technical support and report this problem, but, I have figured out a way to circumvent this problem. I explain below.
    +Link with colon and then a colon and zero+
    • Library of Congress: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.2925:
    If you paste the above link into the Mail message body and select "Edit" » "Link" » "Add" and "Paste" the link into the text box, the "Add" button will not be triggered. If the ":" is removed, the "Add" button will be triggered and highlighted. Sadly, the link will be incorrect.
    Circumvention
    In the above case, the solution is quite simple. Just add a zero, "0", after the colon, ":" , as such.
    • Library of Congress link with a zero: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.2925:0
    The above link works and Mac's Mail "Add" feature will add a properly working link to the message body.
    By the way, please ask your Congressional Representatives to support the above bill!
    Have a nice day! By the way, I am a Chemical Engineer in search of employment! :•)

    So how the Addressbook's Group List would look after syncing with the Soho Organizer's Contacts Subgroups organization? If Address book don't have that ability of Subgrouping.
    I have been researching after a while now every single possible way without a luck. Please let me know if you find a solution.
    Here are a are a couple of interesting apps that are taking contacts organization more seriouslly. But still dont have the answer for it.
    5degrees.
    http://www.5degrees.us,
    $9.99 a month
    Desktop and iphone.
    Bento
    Great for customizing the contacts template.
    Also an iphone app.

    My favorite would be Cobook Contacts since they also have the iphone app. Very clean design.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/41822/cobook

    But still, none of this have the Subgroup organizing feature.
    Please let me know if toy find a solution.

  • Is there an easy way to print address labels or multiple envelopes from a group in the Address Book contacts?

    What is the best way to make address labels from a group in my Address Book?
    Or can I print multiple envelopes - for an entire "group" of addressees?

    Hi,
    I am doing the same thing too. I have to call my reports thru menu. I tried web.show_document in my menu and it works. I also added paramform=yes and it gives the report parameters, but I want to give the user the choice of format for the reports. eg. pdf, html, excel, etc. instead of hardcoding it.
    Could you please give me some idea on how can I do that??
    Thanks.

  • How do I delete contacts from the address book?

    Purchased a new MacBook Pro and iphone4 yesterday.  The phone has several hundred contacts that I no longer need.  How do I deleted the contacts that I don't need anylonger from the address book on my MacBook?  There are still several hundred that I need to keep.  I don't see an easy way to delete them on the computor.  I can't imagine that I'd have to go through one by one on my iphone.........seriously?

    On the MBpro, click on the card to delete or mark several in a row by holding Shift down/up arrow.  Then hit the delete key on the keyboard.

  • How can I make groups on my address book?

    I have an iphone 5c.  I am trying to make a group in my address book.  I need to be able to send a message to a group but have the members of the group respond to me only.  At this point, every message I send to them is getting read by them but then they send a response to the entire group.  It's annoying when not all the members need to hear what is being said.

    FYI - this is the Using iPhone > Mail discussions group.
    At the Address Book menu bar, go to File > Export and select Address Book Archive.
    Transfer the exported Address Book Archive file to your new Mac.
    At the Address Book menu bar on your new Mac, go to File > Import and select the Address Book Archive file that was exported from your other Mac.

  • How to delete multiple desktop in the address book option?

    I am trying to synchronise the adress book to a blackberry.
    Here`s the setting,
    BES version 4.0.3.5
    blackberry 8330
    e-mail platform: Lotus Notes on Domino servers
    The adress book is the names.nsf file from the computer that is copied to a server.
    In the BES console when I double click on the profile of the client to get the properties, I go into the "PIM Sync" and I add the server location in the proper field and the Relative path location in the proper field also.
    Client called me this morning telling me that his contacts doesn`t synchronised with his Lotus Notes.  After investigating, I see that in the option of the Adress book, if I go in the Desktop, "wireless synchronisation" is "not available".
    1st: I removed the info in the profile and apply the changes (from the BES console) wait a minute or 2 then add back the relative path location and the server location.
    - after a minute or 2, the client tells me that he sees the "wireless synchronisation" at Yes. but then he says it still not synchronise because he doesn`t see the changes he made that morning.
    2nd: I do a soft reset (alt+caps+del)
    - now we noticed that there is 2 "desktop" in the options of the adress book
    3rd: went into the Options - Advanced Options - service books - and deleted Desktop ALP and Desktop SYNC - did a soft reset again
    At one point, I had again only 1 Desktop but for some reason it "doubled" in entries and when I looked in the adress book ,there is a bunch of double entries.
    4th: did  an enterprise activation on the blackberry (without doing a hard reset to wipe the data) when it completed, I still had 2 desktop, 1 with 530 entries (the good one) was at "wireless synchronisation" at yes, the 2nd desktop (1029 entries) has "wireless synchronisation unavaliable.
    When we enter the adress book all entries are now in triple, if I select "select adress book" and I select the 1st one, then all entries are fine.  Is there a way to remove the 2nd desktop without interfering with the synchronisation of the first desktop whichi is the good adress book?
    sorry for the long explanation and thanks for the help.

    I am having a similar problem with an 8900 Curve.  Unfortunately, the contacts are all in the BlackBerry, and I can't sync them back to the Lotus Notes address Book, it's the incorrect address book that is trying to sync to Lotus Notes.
    I'm afraid if I delete the service books, I'll lose the contacts for good.
    Has anyone solved this issue yet?
