How do I display a null date field?

We've converted a couple of million records from and old system into UCM and a lot of dates were null. These display as 1/1/53 (01-Jan-1753) and the requirements is to display spaces. This sounds so simple but I can't think of how to do it and can't find it documented in the forum anywhere. Any ideas?

Let me clarify. We have already performed the migration to UCM and the problem is that a lot of the dates are being displayed as 1/1/1753. My understanding is that this is because the date is null in the database and the users want to display them as null/blank/spaces instead of 1/1/53 because they think 1/1/53 looks ugly.

Data not submitting when I have a conditional display on a date field

Hello all,
Could someone please help me with the following issue?
I have created an updateable report region with four updateable fields. 3 of the fields store a number values and the fourth stores a date value.
Each updateable report item has a conditional display, and whether they are displayed or not is controlled by the end user using a radio group (with submit). This provides the user with three options.
If I remove all conditional displays all data will commit to the database without any problems. If I apply the conditional display to the number fields only, again the data will commit as normal. However, as soon as I add a conditional display to the date field it all goes pair shaped. The data will then cease to commit, with no error message at all. Once I remove the conditional display normal service is resumed.
I'm certainly an APEX novice at the moment, so I wondered if anyone could shed some light on this.

Basically, I have edited each applicable report field column attributes, via the report attributes tab, and selected a conditional display 'Value of item in Expression 1 = Expression 2' for all of them.
In the same report region I have created a radiogoup with submit called p51_update_type, specifying three static return values; R, F and S
Condition e.g.

All columns display as expected, and commits to the database are normal, that is until I apply a conditional display to the date field (which relates to a table column of type DATE in the database).

How to get length of a data field. For example data field /BIC/0COSTCENTER length is 9. and the entry in the table is /BIC/0COSTCENTER = 1000 only. How to get the lenth of value in the table.

Blank or null date fields are displaying 1/1/1901

I have optional date fields that users may leave blank. When they do, the result is that my report is printing 1/1/1901 (which I am guessing is a default setting somewhere in the options???) Can anyone point me in the right direction so that if the field is null, the "text string" & doesn't print?
Here's the formula, maybe it's a fundamental problem with the way I've done the formula:

Is SHIPDATE a date type or text field? I an presuming a text field based on your example. If the date is defaulting to 1/1/1901, I am guessing that is a function of your database server rather than Crystal Reports. So I would alter your code to say:

How do I display today's date and a date 1 month from today in livecycle designer

Does anyone know how to display a future dates in 3 date fields that would be 1 month; 2 months and 3 months from today?
I am making a sales contract form and in a date field is today's date (which can be altered if the user needs to change it). The javascript I have is:

How to find Maximum of a date field using BEx

We are trying to just display the maximum of a date field in a BEx report along with some fixed text .
If we need to create a formula using Maximum function , how to use the same?
For ex, we have a field "Flight Date" in the cube and cube has been updated with flight date till 10.09.2006.
we want to display in the BEx report something like "Flight details are available only till <maximum of the flight date field from the cube>"

Create a formula on the data and then sort the query on the date , that way the latest date would come on top. I am not sure if you can have something the way you have described..
an option could be :
Have a query on the cube with a condition of top date where the date could be a formula , this way you would get the latest date. se this as a value set to filter another query that displays only the date and nothing else , have some static text beside the query to indicate that this is the latest date.

I have a DSO with Date field in which there are blank values. I want to replace the blank values in the DSO for date field with 00000000. Because of this blank values in the DSO the report is giving an ORA error.
How do we replace the blank values in the DSO for historical data and also the new loads?

I'm trying to run a query built on a DSO. The DSO has a field 'Start Date'. This Start Date InfoObject has a reference Char as 0DATE.
This Start Field has blank values due to which I'm getting the ORA-01722 error. I came across many threads with same topic of discussion. As mentioned in one of the Threads I have written a program to update 'Start Date' with 00000000. The code wriiten is "UPDATE /BIC/AZ_MONINV00 SET /BIC/ZSTR_DTE = '00000000' where /BIC/ZSTR_DTE = ' '.
Now when I see the data in the active data table of DSO the blank value is replaced with '00000000'.
But If I right click on the DSO click on display data the 'Start Date' field is blank. And now the Query also gets executed without any error. But in the output of the query the 'Start Date' Field has "#" values.
Can anyone suggest on how to remove these "#" values in the report?

How to insert row where DB date field has default value.

APEX 4.1, Oracle 11.2
I'm trying to insert a row using "javascript:addRow();" where the report query is an SQL Query (Updateable Report).
1) Several of the fields are display-only with defaulted values.
2) No problem with the VARCHAR2 fields.
3) And if RUN_DT is a text field, the insert works.
4) But I get errors when trying to make RUN_DT (DD-MON-YYYY) display-only and default it to P63_RUN_DT. I display P63_RUN_DT so I see it is correct.

Various folks recommended using Default PL/SQL and SYSDATE when SYSDATE was the desired default value. That worked for some and not for others. I could not get it to work for me. The errors I receive are "•Column must have a value. (Row 1) " and "ORA-01410: invalid ROWID". I believe the ROWID error is an example of spurious error cascade caused by the RUN_DT problem. I believe it will disappear once the RUN_DT problem is solved.
I will try to replicate on apex.oracle.com

Update: At least in my case, it seems the RUN_DT date column cannot be Standard Report Column. I made it "Display as Text (saves state)". Standard Report Column works for the defaulted VARCHAR2 columns. Go figure!
(more) And I could not get it to work with "Item" (P63_RUN_DT) as the Default. However, it seems to work -- so far -- using Default PL/SQL of TO_DATE(:P63_RUN_DT,'DD-MON-YYYY').

Hi. I am new to Acrobat. I would like to have Acrobat auto fill today's date in a date field when I open an acrobat form. I check the forum help and it indicated that I associate this javascript text to the field:

Wrap HTML around the tag to format the data.
Please note!! When the page renders the CQWP, the site grabs the Item Style for each line of data. So we can't add a table and expect that each line of data will be in a row. Instead we get a full table for each line of data.
Keep this in mind as you style the HTML around the data.
You need to create the html structure and place your fields inside. To have the values show up in one row with spaces between them, place the three field calls in the same row, like

Change Display Format of Date Field

Hi,
How can I change the display format of a date?
When the field is displayed as a DateField the data format is good, but can I change the format? The problem with a DateField is also that the field can be updated and that shouldn't be possible.
When the field is displayed as a DisplayField the format looks worse. It looks like it's doing a toString from a Data variable.
Could someone tell me what is the best way to Display a Date from the database? The users shouldn't be allowed to change the value.
