You cannot edit a pdf with Reader. You can annotate (if allowed), fill in fields, but edit no.

    The link you provided is for the HTML fillable form. Is that what you are trying to download?
    FormsCentral form files are stored on the FormsCentral servers. If you are the author or a co-author of the form you can access it from any machine by logging into FormsCentral. If you aren't the author or a co-author of the form you will need to contact the author and have them share the form with your FormsCentral account.     But editing the code does not seem possible. It seems that it's necessary to delete the HTML object and reinsert it to make a change. What am I missing?

    Right click. I'm on my phone, but an option like "Edit HTML..." should be among the choices when an HTML embed object is selected.

    Bill, The PDF came from a scanning of a Word document, but my office did not produce the PDF and I don't know exactly how the original Word document was scanned, whether OCR was engaged at that stage, etc., but the select tool in Adobe Reader leads to the cross-hairs on the PDF. We are working without AA, and I was trying to convert the PDF back to an editable Word document through ExportPDF, with which I thought I had had some success in the past in similar circumstances (converting an image PDF back to an editable Word document). With this document, the conversion back to Word through ExportPDF has led to an uneditable Word document with text in image frames whether OCR is on or off in the PDF to Word conversion effort... and if there is a way to remove the frames in Word, but keep the text, I haven't "re"figured it out yet. For instance, triple clicking doesn't seem to do anything.
    On this particular document, we've gone back to the old fashioned way of retyping the page that has the error in it ... and sticking it back in the document. (It also would have been smarter timewise for me in this case to have spent more time on tracking down the preceding Word document.)
    Was I missing something in the conversion process from scanned image PDF to Word document with edit capabilities? Thanks!

    If it's a Mac font and you're on Windows, you can't. If you are also on a Mac, you'll need to purchase the fonts (fonts are generally non-transferable, like software. One of the reasons pdf exists), install them and try your edits.
    But it's best to edit the original document and create a new pdf when finished.

    Thanks Sabian.  It took me a while to figure out that "close Acrobat Reader 7.0" actually meant "delete it".   After loading 10.1.2 I followed the instructions to send my pdf file and Internet Explorer decided to "quit" right in the middle of the process. ??  I'll try to use Chrome to see if that helps.

    Sorry, yes. When I asked "how do I transfer it to Pages for editing?" I perhaps should have made it clear that I have purchased it. I can also create documents in it and send them as a Word document to others via email.
    Could you clarify "When you get the email, click on the Word Document to view it." The email appears in the Inbox list but does not show an attachment in the same way it does on my Mac. If I tap the email, it opens and reveals the contents including the Word document contents. At what point am I looking for an arrow - in the email list or in the opened and readable Word document?

    The trouble is, however I search for an answer to this question, I get instructions on how to back up stuff TO iCloud.
    I want to back up stuff that applications like Pages and Numbers are already storing IN iCloud.
    See, I don't want to have to trust iCloud to safely store my documents.  Not unless there are copies somewhere that I can fall back on if (it's really only a matter of when) something goes fatally haywire in iCloud.
    It's easy enough to do with a service like, say, Dropbox, which treats my "cloud-stored" files like they are in a folder on my hard-drive.  So when I run either a local (Time Machine/Capsule) or a cloud (Crashplan, in my case) backup, those files get backed up.  So I have at least three copies of those files - in Dropbox, on my Time Capsule, and on Crashplan's servers.
    So how do I do that with docs that are stored in iCloud?  Apple wants me to store stuff in iCloud - if I have iCloud enabled and want to save a doc to another destination, there are multiple steps I want to go through.  And I'm fine with using iCloud if I'm creating documents that I want to be able to access from my iOS devices as well.
    Yes, I can do that with Dropbox, but it's less seamless than doing it through iCloud.
    But I want my own backups of those files, and near as I can tell, Apple makes that nearly impossible because iCloud does not show up anywhere as a folder that I can access or sort.
    Or does it?  Am I missing something?
    If so, let me know.... if not... is there a solution to this dilemma, or is it just one more aspect of iCloud that Apple has not clearly thought through?

    Right.  You didn't read the post, you only read the title.
    The title came from an earlier step in the process when I was posing a question to the systen.
    The pertinent part of the question is "How to I back up documents that are stored in iCloud" 
    That the destination for the backup is NOT my internal HDD should be clear from the rest of the post.
    And frankly, even if that is where I want to back up to, that would at least give me two copies, at least giving me one duplicate of the stuff on iCloud.
    So please stop wasting my time if you can't answer the actual question: How do I backup content that is stored in iCloud.  The destination of the backup is irrelevant.
