How do I export my safari 5.1 Reading list?

Does anyone know how to export an iMac's Safari 5.1 reading list to a Macbook Pro (with Safari 5.1 too)?
Thank You in advance

Spoke to many an Apple "genius" and Safari cannot export Reading List.
Chrome can very easily import the Reading List though. In Chrome:
From the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" menu (button with 3 horizontal lines in far right top corner), choose "Bookmarks" > "Import Bookmarks and Settings"
In the "Import Bookmarks and Settings..." window, select "Safari" and make sure that the "Favorites/Bookmarks" option is checked, then click "Import"
Now, in Chrome Bookmarks menu, you should find a new folder called "Imported from Safari" with a subfolder called "com.apple.ReadingList" that's it.
Alternatively you can open the Terminal application on a Mac (search it in Launchpad if you can't find it) and paste this:
/usr/bin/plutil -convert xml1 -o - ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist | grep -E  -o '<string>http[s]{0,1}://.*</string>' | grep -v icloud | sed -E 's/<\/{0,1}string>//g'
Hit return and it will list all your Reading List links as text which you can copy and paste elsewhere.
Happy days

  • Why do sites in Safari 6's reading list say "waiting"

I'm running Lion (10.7.4). Ever since I upgraded to Safari 6, the sites listed in Reading List show a "Waiting..." attribute. This never goes away.
    Any solutions?

Try enabling the Develop menu so you can empty the cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • How to get rid of websites on the reading list?

I need help getting rid of websites on my reading list. Please help

click on the spectacles, then hover over the links in the list. As you do that a little "x" appears in the top right.
Click on that and it goes away. Now if you can show me how to get rid of the reading list option and stop if from collecting links I accidentally put there, that would be something. lol

  • How do I synchronize my iPad (iOS 8) reading list with Mac Yosemite?

When IOS 8 came out for the iPad, I instantly installed it on my iPad Air, realizing too late that it meant that my iPad and Macbook Pro reading lists in Safari would no longer synchronize without Yosemite on my Mac.
So, today I installed Yosemite on my Mac, but the problem persists. My very, very long reading list on the iPad does not show up on the Mac, and even though I've tried turning Safari sync in iCloud off/on on the Mac, it doesn't work. I considered turning Safari sync off/on in iCloud on the iPad as well, but I'm afraid that will delete the reading list completely.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Griff W.,
    Thanks for your reply.
I've tried the tips mentioned in the article you link to but unfortunately this didn't solve the issue. That is to say, after turning Safari in iCloud off and on again as described in the article,  on both my iPad Air, my iPhone 4S, and my Macbook Pro I did manage to sync the iPhone and the Mac with each other.
However, neither the iPhone nor the Mac syncs with my iPad.
So the new problem is: since turning iCloud for Safari off and on again for the iPhone 4S and the Macbook Pro did work, why did it not work for the iPad Air? I've tried it repeatedly.
(Oh, and I've checked that I'm using the same Apple ID on all three devices, so that's not it either.)

  • How do I edit the Safari 2 Safe Files list

I need certain filetypes to be auto-opened, usually in my own Automator scripts. With some web searching, I found some information about a plist file that can be edited to add to the list of auto-opening safe files, but this seems to have no effect on my version of Safari. Could someone please post a link that explains how to do this?
    I'm using OS X 10.4.8 and Safari 2.0.4.
    Thanks!

  • How do I export a picture from my contact list on my iPod touch?

I took a picture of a friend with my iPod's camera to put next to her information in my "Contacts book" on my iPod Touch.  I then deleted the picture.  She now wants a copy of that picture, and it seems the only place it is stored is in my "contacts."  Any way I can export it via email or directly through a USB port to an email, photo program, to her desktop, anything?  Thanks!
