I Noticed pop ups happening on Netflix, googled it, got malware as an answer. How do I fix this? I have a MacBook pro from like three years ago, runnin 10.6.8 on it. Help? Easy, tried and true help. Will upgrading to maverick solve my problem? Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes?

No. Generally speaking, upgrading OS X reveals problems that already exist, and it appears that you have a problem that needs to be addressed before contemplating an upgrade.
Go go the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. What, if any, Extensions are present?
Do the popups appear on other sites, or only Netflix's website?

You could install Office for Mac. You could install a free Office-like program such as LibreOffice. You could open the documents with a program like Pages. Or you could install Windows and Office on your Macbook Pro.

Install Aperture on the MBP. Then it's a simple process:
Export the Event as an Aperture Library. Copy it to the iMac. Import the Library to the main one there.

My hard drive crashed in my 15" MACBOOK PRO model A1175. I installed an new WD 7500 750GB hard drive but I do not have my OS X installation disc. I have a MACBOOK A1175 which I believe I purchased in 2007-8. I tried using my wife's disc from her 13" MBP I bought her this past Oct 2010.

I'd recommend you to follow not only one but both Kappy's suggestions. Apple can provide you with the original disks for a nominal fee. Having the original disks is important, because if you ever experience a serious issue you might need to run Apple Hardware Test, which is not included on the retail Snow Leopard DVD as it is machine specific.
And using the (grey) installation disks of another Mac model is not something you want to do.... as I learned the hard way myself as well.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you want to always keep them synced you have several alternatives. First is you can wait for iCloud which will be released this Fall according to Apple. Several years ago I began using a tool called Synctogether which syncs Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Widgets, Dock Items, Mail Accounts and Mail Signatures. You just check what you want synced, for example I do Bookmarks, Calendars and Contacts. This app sells for about $49 I think, however if I were you I'd wait for iCloud which will give you 5GB (which is a LOT) for free.

It is impossible to tell where malware (if there is any) might be located. I would probably clear the browser cache and cookies (if I was concerned). If I was really concerned, I would restore my system from the latest backup.
Apple does have code to intercept malware, but I have no clue how it works.

The other possibility is that someone with access to your machine (children?, co-worker?) set up all of your browsers to have that audio file set up as a default "home page". This is probably more likely than malware. I just tried with Safari, and it's definitely possible. Check out your Safari preferences and see what it shows as your homepage.
