How do i find photos from iPhoto to upload to ebay?, how do i find photos from iPhoto to upload to ebay?

how do i find photos on iphoto on my mac to upload to ebay?

The first of these:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Open the file with Preview, type Command + i to bring up the Info pane and it's color mode and profile will be listed as shown here:
To change the color mode to CMYK you'll need a 3rd party image editor like Photoshotp or GraphicConverter to do it.  Why do you need CMYK?

When you launch iPhoto with the option key depressed you'll get this window:

  • In imovie how do I seperate all my videos from the photos from iphoto? I have thousands of photos so finding the odd video here or there is like finding a needle in a haystack! Is there a way I can simply import the videos rather than all the photos

Imovies - how do I seperate the videos from the photos. My library has bundled them all together from iphoto

One way I was able to do this, was to make a Smart Album in iPhoto, with the rule of showing just the movie files.  This will work, once you know what format the movie files are in.
In iPhoto, select one of your movies, and right click it.  Look for the option: "Reveal in Finder" or "Show in Finder" (this depends on the version of iPhoto).
Once you see the file, look for the three letters AFTER the period.  Like this:
    .mov (QuickTime movie)
    .avi  (Uncompressed Windows Video)
    .mpg (MPEG video)
Back in iPhoto, when you make your Smart Album, set it up like this:
Once you have it set like this, press RETURN (or click "Ok").
What you'll see is all the videos that have that file extension (.mov, .avi, .mpg, etc.) listed.  Now the nice thing is this:  Every new movie you add to iPhoto will automatically get listed here, regardless of where in iPhoto they live!
    Integration with iMovie:
By making this album in iPhoto, when you get to iMovie, you'll be able to see the movies when you select your Videos Smart Album.
I hope this helps you out.  They have iPhoto and iMovie workshops at Apple Stores that cover this too.  They're free, and you can learn a lot.
    Sincerely,
    Brian K. James

It is better to export (file menu ==> export) since when you export you control exactly what you get - see the user tip on exporting for details
When you drag and drop you get the current preview with limited Metadata

Re: iPhoto '11 referenced library problems

    YES!!!
I finally managed to recover my iPhoto library!
But it was not easy. I had to hack into the database file to put up things right.
After a significant amount of trial-and-error, here is the procedure I came to, which finally worked for me (use at your own risk):
    0. Make sure you make enough backups so as to revert to the previous state if something goes wrong!
    1. Make a copy of your iPhoto Library [Show Package Contents]/Database/apdb/Library.apdb to your desktop.
This file contains most of the data involved for managing your iPhoto data.
    2. Open this file using a SQLite database manager.
I used Navicat 9.1, which has nice import-export features. For direct editing, Base 2.0 is may be easier.
    3. Open the table RKMaster.
This table contains all records for the individual pics of your library.
    4. Correct the path of each of your pic files in the imagePath column to their current filepath.
This contains the path of your pic files at the time they were imported, and is not updated by iPhoto even though you have moved your pic files somewhere else.
If you have several thousands of paths to correct, a good idea is to export this column to a text file (also including the modelId column for referencing), and to correct paths using the substring Search&Replace function of your favorite text editor. Be sure to re-import the corrected data properly using the modelId column as references.
    5. If needed, correct in the same manner the content of the fileVolumeUuid column to the value of the drive currently containing your picfiles.
If needed, obtain this value considering a pic which was recently imported from that drive.
    6. If your drive name was modified, also correct its name in the name column of the RKVolume table.
Identify the proper record by considering its uuid previously obtained.
    7. If you're happy with your work, quit the database managing program and put Library.apdb back in its original location inside your iPhoto Library.
Keep the older somewhere in case something goes wrong.
    8. Run iPhoto to see if your work is successful!
At this point, you might consider rebuilding the Photo Library (hold alt-cmd while launching iPhoto) and choose Repair the iPhoto Library Database (Be sure to leave the Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup unchecked!). This might correct some possible unconsistencies resulting from your edits. Also, a good thing might be to rebuild all thumbnails. If iPhoto does not bug you for locating files during that process, you have possibly done your work right! If not, back to step 1.
As said, this worked for me, with no visible inconsistencies or side effects to be noticed in the behavior of iPhoto (at least for now). But possibly some knowledgable people might comment and improve that process, and some database script guru might also help automating this. Please comment.
Lessons learned (How I understand the things as far as I know):
    A. Library.apdb stores the initial drive and path of the pic files at the time they were imported. This is not modified as the files are moved around.
    B. Some other data (BLOBs?) is used to track the files at their actual location. Therefore, it seems OK to move the pic files after they were imported.
    C. Unfortunately, this other data is broken if the file is recreated (even with same content and location), for example with a file-based backup and restore (Time Machine).
    D. In that case, iPhoto is unable to recover the file if its current drive and path does not match the one when the file was imported, stored in the database. Also there is no mechanism in iPhoto to correct this data.
    E. Therefore, it is very important to import pic files in iPhoto only when these are already in their final location! If not, your iPhoto Library won't survive a TimeMachine backup and restore! (Possibly, a block-based drive backup could work... I don't know).
    F. ...And Apple should really, really fix this issue! (By correcting the stored filepath and drive to the current file location at least when the database is repaired, and by offering at least some basic file reconnection options).

  • How do I consolidate photos from Finder into iPhoto Library?

I would like to tidy up my photos on my iMac to save space and ensure that all is secure.
Iam using iPhoto 08 on my iMac v10.8.5. My preference is to consolidate all my photos into my iphoto library so that I can manage my collection through iPhoto. I seem to have the same photos showing in Finder -> pictures as I do when I open iphoto. In addition photo files are also stored under My Pictures folder too. I'm guessing they are managed by iphoto but I don't know why they are saving in Finder as well as the iphoto library. I generally upload photos from either an iPhone or iPad.
I have the iphoto preferences set to 'copy items to the iPhoto library' so I'm not sure why they also appear in replicated album structures in Finder and as single images in Finder. Do I just import them again and delete from Finder? Any suggestions? (same for my .MOV files too).
I've taken a screen shot but don't know how to add to this post.

Thanks Larry. I tested that for one photo by deleting (placing in trash) one image and then reopening iphoto to make sure the photo was still there and it was.
However, I was going to select all the images to delete them noticed that the first 4 are not showing in iPhoto (I search by image number as well as sort by image title to double check). These are photos of my daughter at school so would not want to accidentally delete them.
Is there a way to compare what is in iphoto and what is in Finder? Any suggestions on how to ensure I don't miss any? I'm guessing I just import them all and then run the duplicate cleaner file (not perfect but I just deleted 1.5 GB of photos that were duplicated i iphoto). My operating system is old (2008) and needs all the grunt it can get.
Not sure if this may be related but iPhoto seems to randomly duplicate my photos and movies within iPhoto and I have no idea why this is happening. The photo and its title is repeated twice but the .jpg is dropped off the file title. Does the same for movies and drops the .MOV from the title when duplicating.
    Regards, Suzanna
PS I have just tried to import those 4 photos and they are in iPhoto but the photo name is date and time instead of image number as in Finder. That will make it really hard to find?

  • When emailing a photo from the updated iPhoto, how do I find the CC and BCC button, and how do I send to a group from my address book?

when emailing a photo from the updated iPhoto, how do I find the CC and BCC button, and how do I send to a group from my address book?

The email function from iPhoto is pretty basic. The only Bcc available is to yourself (in iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced), cc: does not appear to be available at all, and it does not appear you can email to a group.
You can change this by going to iPhoto > Preferences > General and next to where it says Email photos using: select Mail. If you do this you have all the options available in Mail including Cc: and Bcc: and the ability to drag a group from Address Book into the mail addresses.
    Best of luck.
