How do I generate a RAMP signal w/ SigEx and SCXI for MTS-407 hydraulic controllers.

I'm trying to generate a +/-10v full scale ramp signal to pass through two channels simultaneously. This signal will be used as external function [generator] for two MTS-407 servo/hydraulilc controllers connected to a single specimen. When I hit the "Start" button I need the function generator to generate a ramp (rate and amplitude) and pass this voltage off to both 407's.
My first question I guess is: do I need a special SCXI module to access the NI-FGEN output signals or can these signals be passed through the DAQ card via the SCXI 1302 and Feedthrough panel?

I am trying to do something similar to what you mention. I trying to use a labview program with a NI PXI-8106 and NI-PXI 6251 card to send a signal to a 407 controller through the external program BNC connector.
When trying the software I don't get any signal send or response in the actuator.
How did you solve this problem?
Do I need special hardware?
Please any help is appreciated

Some websites request the web browser to NOT autofill the username, password. It is possible the library site is doing that. Your previous firefox on the PC may have been sufficiently old to not be able to handle such a request. There are password managers you can get to over-ride such things (search Safari extensions).

How to continously generate a voltage signal with dynamic amplitude.

Hello all,
I am looking for ideas and pointers (help in other words). I would like to generate a voltage signal (sine for example) on a AO of my NI cRIO-9263 (DAQmx). The signal should be:
continuous (without jumps ie. smooth)
dynamically able to be change the amplitude, frequency and sampling rate.
interuptable so that the AO can be turned off.
I have tried to use the DAQ Assistant but once it runs in continous mode, I have the impression that the waveform should not be changed. Is there maybe a way where I send repeatedly N samples of the waveform to the AO and gain more control over the signal that way. But if I do that how can I ensure that the signal is continous?
Further more this output has to be generated in an event application ie. in the background.

Tom, I am assuming that this question is for a dev environment. I am assuming you are answering a question assuming a that this is an unmanaged environment where schema changes are being made in production
with no regression testing or promotion through a dev environment.
If it truly is an unmanaged production environment (and I suspect it is) it is all bets off whether my suggestion will fix the problem or not, but it might get the user through this particular problem only to stumble on the next problem.

How can I fix iCal that keeps popping up and asking for my ID

ICal keeps popping up and asking for me to make sure my password and ID are entered correctly. I have been up on my accounts and done this endless times. I have a POP account that I want to add to the list of accounts under ICal's preferences, but I'm stuck when it keeps telling me that it can find my POP server, but the ID doesn't work. I've tried every ID I ever had and it still doesn't work. How can I fix this?

Thats the issue right there. POP is for email, not for calendars. Remove that pop account from the accounts are of iCal.
You would add a POP account to the Mail application to get emails.

This would be verizonwireless.com, correct? Their site requests that browsers should not save information for its login form.

Generate single ramp signal

I cannot seem to figure out the time parameters of the Simulate Arbitrary Signal.
I want to make a single ramp from -1 to 1 over .990ms then back to -1 in under 10us. So when I put it in a for loop I can get N sawtooth cycles.
I've been pulling my hair out trying different options of the define signal dialog and can't make it happen.
Can someone help me understand the dx relation to the datapoints and how they are affected by the write/sample numbers in the DAQ part? Please.

This should get you started. You will need to set up the analog output in the software to match your system. If you change the frequency and sample numbers and the loop delay then you can make it go faster and slower much easier.

How do I generate custom-made signals (impulses) from the parallel port

I am trying to generate some simple pulses to drive an external device. I am sure this is simple, but I'm not sure how to do it in LabView. I need to generate to TTL-level (2.4 - 5v) pulses that are spaced 500ms apart and occur every 34 seconds (that's the period).
Any suggestions?

The easiest way to write to the serial port in LabVIEW is with the Port Out.vi. You can find the help info here. You can find the address of the parallel port in the properties (located in Control Panel>>System>>Hardware Tab>>Device Manager) under the Resources tab. IT is the first number in the I/O range property (usually 0378).
This is a digital line and the parallel port is written as a byte so your labVIEW program will need to write a byte, delay and write another byte to get a "waveform".

The attached library (LabVIEW 6i or higher) includes different VIs that can help you perform sweep-based measurement, including a VI to generate a linear sweep (chirp). Note that the generation VI can generate your chirp in "one shot" or in multiple chunks (multiple runs) if you sweep is very long. You can use the reset control to re-start your sweep at any time. So the VI is functionally totally equivalent to any generation VI in the Analyze>>Waveform Generation palette. I hope this will work for you.

I'm using a WinXP machine connected to PCI-6024E and AT-MIO-16E-10. The whole setup is supposed to drive a DC motor and I'm supposed to design an experiment to input an impulse signal to the system and get an impulse/step response. I have to be able to define the width of the impulse signal.

I am new at mac programming and I want to make an iPhone app with the free SDK. What I would like to try is a random number generator. I imagine it as when the user clicks a button 6 random numbers from 1 to 49 would appear in a label or another control. If someone could please give me the code that would place these randomized numbers in a label I would greatly appreciate it. I know how to link all the controls together, I just need the code. How do you generate random data info using json and spry?

I have a mobile applicaton that uses spry datasets that dynamically populate a jquery mobile listview by using a json file. Everything is operating as it should.
However, I would like to understand how to pull random objects from the json file to have them displayed on a different page.
My json file is standard and not complicated. It has several levels. Each is represented as below:

What I would like to do is randomly load one of the Level1 object arrays into the page when the user selects a Level 1 radio button that is on the screen. I know how to create the page, radio buttons and basics, but just don't know how to pull in the random data.
I've found one code sample on this site that speaks to spry and xml, but I haven't been able to apply it in any way that works for me with the json file:

I've also googled. There isn't much on spry datasets with json and generating random info. There was a little bit on sorting, but that didn't help either.
Does anyone have a good example/tutorial of how to use the random function with spry/json?

I've done similar things before. A few thoughts for you:
1. I'm assuming you're doing a buffered period or frequency measurement on the incoming encoder pulses, right? First key point is that you'll have data that is spaced equally in position, but not equally in time. If you are looking for a time-based FFT such that increasing speed will shift your spectrum, you're going to need to go through an interpolation process to resample your data as though equally-spaced in in time.
2. Your 149 pulse per rev encoder may be a significant source of error unless its 149 pulses are placed with extreme accuracy. Any error in pulse placement violates your underlying assumption of data that is equally-spaced in position. It'll be very helpful to send your data through a software lowpass filter to attenuate those artifacts.
3. I am not sure what you mean by "decompose the buffered data (array) into a single datastream." You'll get an array of periods / frequencies from the call to DAQmx Read. If you want to use it in a LabVIEW waveform datatype, you'll first need to do the resampling to create equally-spaced-in-time data. The LabVIEW waveform datatype (and all the analysis functions like FFT that use it) depend on receiving data with a fixed constant time interval between samples.

How can I generate clock in labview 8.0 and use it for programming and for hardware?

I have to generate clock for synchronizing hardware with my program, so I need to to use this clock inside the program and as an output from A/D. The clock frequency has to be aproximately 3kHz.

First of all, i suspect that you are somehow believing that software can be timed by external signals. That is normally not the case, at least if you are using a standard Desktop PC.
So please do not mix software with "data acquisition". Data acquisition can be configured to be "buffered" which means externally clocked. You can use the onboard clock for this or (in case of most hardware) any other TTL compatible "clocksource". This will ensure a clocked acquisition of the samples. The samples are then transferred to your PC and stored there as an array. So your program has to fetch the data "in time", but not "hardwaretimed".
So please share some more information about:
-What is your task
-What is the hardware you are using
-Software versions (driver, LV)
-What is your current approach

[Edit] There is a difference between "softwaretimed" and "hardwaretimes" acquisition. What i described in my reply would be the hardwaretimed acquisition, which i would say make the majority of all acquisitions. Softwaretimed acquisition describes a single point acquisition where a single sample is requested by the software. So each time the software requests a new sample, it will be acquired. This method heavily depends on the performance of the systems and does most often not exceed few kHz (maybe 2 or 3). Furthermore, if you do not have a realtime or fpga, the acquisition if not deterministic which means that the samples are not acquired in a "static timeframe"; the delta t is not constant.....
Single point acquisition is only worth for very slow signals (most often up to 1kHz) or control circuits.
