How do I get the javax.servlet package?

I have a simple question. I downloaded the JAVA platform Standard Edition SDK 1.6.0 and find that it doesn't have the javax.servlet package? From where can I get it and how to install and configure?

hi,
you don't have servlet in J2SE... you can get it
from J2EE ... download the latest J2EE .. the
package is available in j2ee.jar file..
ou can download it from:
http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/index.jsp

You are quite wrong my friend... Servlets don't depend on any J2EE container, the only thing you need is a J2SE edition... check this:

  • Development kit which includes the javax.servlet package

Which java development kit(s) contain the javax.servlet package.v I can't seem to find one. Thanks

You might want to ask this on the Java forum - but if you want to run a servlet you need a Java EE server - something like Glassfish or WebLogic or Tomcat.
    The Java forums are here:
    https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=285
Right now you are in the JDeveloper forum - and by the way, if you download JDeveloper you'll get everything you need to develop and test run your servlet.

  • How can I get the No. of package and requesting system name in user exit?

    Dear all,
Is there anybody knowing how to obtain the extracting package number and requesting system name in the user exit "EXIT_SAPLRSAP_002" ? here is detail on my questions as below:
For package number. If extracting 100,000 records of 0MATERIAL_TEXT , and the package size is 20,000, then there are 10 packages, when executing the user exit, how can I know which package I am extracting on?
For requesting name, when executing the user exit, how can I know the logical system name from which the extraction request is sent?
    Thanks.
    best regards
    Patrick

    Hi Mansi,
    Thanks for your quick response.
The background of this requirement is, in the datasource 0material_Plant_Att, we added two fields in the extraction structure, one is variable price, another is previous year's variable price, which need to be obtained by searching data KEKO & CKIS in the user exit, these tables have the huge data volume, in each data package, the user exit needs to be executed once, so the heavy searching needs to be done once, consequently, the total running time of this request including several data packages is very long. In order to improve the performance, we design the following logic:
    1. Create the temporary tables YCKIS & YKEKO in R/3.
    2. Run BW request in BIW.
    3. In R/3, If this is first data package of this request, delete all data in YCKIS & YKEKO, then search the data from CKIS & KEKO ( Average 20 million records), then insert these data into YCKIS & YKEKO ( Average 0.2 million records).
    4. In R/3, if this is not first data package of this request, then search the data directly from YCKIS & YKEKO.
You can see in the above, in the step 4, the data searching performance can be improved significantly due to reading data from temporary table, this is why I need to know the No. of data package. In addition, apparently, it can not be done in BIW side since the performance issue is in the user exit rather than in BIW. Also it is very difficult to setup one counter to deliver this since we do not know when to reset the counter. For example,
    - Assuming there are 3 data packages.
    - 1st day, we schedule one request from BIW, in R/3,
       -> At 1st package, counter = 0+1=1
       -> At  2nd package, counter =1+1= 2.
       -> At 3rd package, counter = 2+1= 3, then reset counter = 0 for next request.
Question 1:  How can we know the 3rd package is last one?
Question 2: If during the 2nd package, the extraction job is cancelled exceptionally, the counter value is 2 not 0, then for the next request, the data searching is not correct, right.
Hope the above is clear, and apology this email is too long.
    Thanks.
    best regards

  • Getting javac to find javax.servlet package

Hey all. I'm trying to get Servlets to run on my computer. I'm using jdk1.4, it didn't have the javax.servlet package to start off with. I downloaded jsdk2.0, which includes the javax.servlet package. I can't get the javac compiler to find these classes no matter what I do, I copied the entire javax/servlet folder into the jdk1.4/src.zip file that seemed to have all the other import files, I copied the jsdk.jar file into jdk1.4/lib/ folder, that didn't work either. In my batch file that sets the path for jdk, I added set classpath = c:\jsdk2.0\lib\jsdk.jar and that didn't work. I really can't seem to get javac to find these classes. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The above advice is incorrect and can lead you to many problems.
You should have nothing in your CLASSPATH environment variable immediately after installing J2SDK 1.4.1.
You then have to install the Servlet API by pointing your CLASSPATH env. var. to it. To do this depends on the version of the Servlet spec. that you have as some of the olders ones were distributed as jar files, and the latest I believe is a set of classes to be extracted.
At the end of the day, you must point your CLASSPATH to the Servlet API. Read up on how to set the CLASSPATH. Also, don't forget to include the current working directory (.) in your CLASSPATH after manually setting it.
    Good luck !!

  • Compiling Servlets: javax.servlet package unknown

    Hello everybody,
I'm new to J2EE technology and would like to start with creating servlets, but the javac compiler can not compile my java class succesfully, cos' it seems, it does not know the javax.servlet package.
In each documentation is just a sentence: run javac ... But it does not work.
Do I have to have some special configuration? I also downloaded the J2EE SDK, but the problem resisted.
    Help me, please!
    Thanx, Peter

    Hi peter,
If you have installed the J2EE SDK 1.4, you would find $INSTALL_ROOT/lib/j2ee.jar (INSTALL_ROOT means the installation directory of J2EE SDK). PLease keep this j2ee.jar in the classpath and compile, things would be fine.

  • Help! How to get the Java Communication Package work in JDK1.3.1?

I downloaded a Java Communications API Win32 ver 2.0 from java.sun.com, and try to use it to do some programming to communication ports with JDK1.3.1.
I failed. When I tested with the samples (BlackBox, SimpleRead) coming with the javax.comm. It showed "no serial port found", something like that. I check the installation Instructions of the comm. package, it only described the installation under JDK1.1 and the pre-release version of JDK1.2. (and the installation of the same package in JDK1.1 and JDK1.2 are totally different.)I tried the specification with my JDK1.3, but it doesn't work.
Who knows how to install the Javax.comm package in JDK1.3.1? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks a lot.

This comes straight out of the FAQ that you got with your download:
Q: My application does not find any ports when it enumerates available ports.
Q: BlackBox gives me a message that says "No serial ports found!"
A: In order for the Java communications API to find ports the file
javax.comm.properties must be in the correct place. The preferred location
is in <jdk>/lib. See the installation instructions for alternate locations
    and further information.
Installation is very simple. Comm is a standard extension, so copy comm.jar to %JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib\ext
This is all in the docs....

  • CS5 upgrade says on packaging that CS5 Design Standard is a qualifying product, but the installer will not complete the upgrade. How do I get the the installer to complete the upgrade?

When I enter the license key for a CS5 Design Standard Upgrade on a Mac with CS5 Design Standard installed and licensed, the installer says that there are no qualifying products installed to be upgraded.
The packing for the upgrade states that CS5 Design Standard is a qualifying product. How to I get the upgrade to install?

It does seem rather like that. However, the box copy of CS5DS Upg that I am holding also states that "you must have one of the following: Adobe Creative Suite 5 - Design Standard" on the packaging.
If I am trying to upgrade CS5DS with CS5DS, it is partly because Adobe is suggesting that it makes sense to upgrade to an identical product. Hence my confusion when the install failed.

  • Using Javax.Servlet package for the first time

    Hello everyone.
I have (to some) the dumbest question, however I am new to this side of Java.
I'm trying to create my first Servlet page, and I have Java 2 Standard edition (JDK1.3). I also have JBuilder (JDK1.3.1).
My class seems to be unable to find the javax.Servlet.* packges.
It seems I don't have the package available to my compiler, so I cannot compile my application.
Someone please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks
    Rich

you would also need to have a servlet runner. you could use tomcat jakarta.apache.org (it's the standard implementation for servlets). With Tomcat also comes the servlet package.

  • How do I get the m3g package working under wtk2.2?

How do I get the m3g package working under wtk2.2? When I try to build applications which use the package, the toolkit can't find it, although the .jar file is in WTK2.2/lib (jsr184.jar). But none of the scripts in WTK2.2/bin reference the file. I have tried adding classpath references to the jar file in all of the bin sripts, but I still get 'package does not exist' messages when I try to build, e.g., Redikod's M3GMIDlet. i have of course tried putting the jar file in the 'res' directory for the application.
