how can I get my new ipad 4 to read my compact flash cards? If not, can I download the images directly from my camera?
Tom, thanks for your quick reply. I'm a commerical photographer using Canon 5D mk2's mostly and have in the past just downloaded images to a mac book for backup. I really liked the compact size of the Ipad and just got the retina model with the camera connection kit and seem to be hearing that CF readers can't be used with it b/c they draw too much power. Seems like I remember reading I could use a cord that might have come with my cameras to download directly to the Ipad. I haven't tried it yet as I can't find the connection but then you just said it can't be done?
I'm COMPLETLY lost as to your "first pluging in a flash drive to my computer, advice. Do you mean Ipad when you say computer? "then put your movie/photo files into the folder." HOW????????
Then plug it into the Ipad?????? TOTALLY lost.
Also your saying just "do a google search for a reader doesn't work b/c NONE are able to work with the newer Ipads b/c they use TOO much power or so everyone says everyone that have tried.
Hope you can help a little more b/c I'm really getting frustrated with all the conflicting advice!
Thanks, Dennis [email protected] -
How do I get a new tab to automatically open as my home page instead of a blank one?
I want to click on the tab button and have my home page appear in the new tab instead of a blank page. Is this possible and, if so, how is it done?
You can also middle-click the Home button, just like any other link. Middle-click and a Ctrl left click also works for some right-click context menu items like View Image and the list that opens with a right click on the Back and Forward button.

How do I get a new tab to show my top sites page instead of going to a search engine?
Every time I go to open a new tab it did show me my top sites but now it doesn't and I want it restore that. how do I do it?
See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites
You can reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
*https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons). -
How do I get a new tab to automatically open showing the google search page?
When I open firefox, I see my google home page but when I open a new tab it shows the searchnu home page. It used to be blank and I don't know how or why it changed, but can you tell me how to get my tabs to open automatically showing www.google.co.uk please?
Type about:config into your address bar, press enter. Accept the warning. Search for browser.newtab.url, double click it. Put in www.google.co.uk. You should be good to go :)

You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at one of these extensions:
* NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2221
* New Tab Homepage : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/777 -
I use to be able to open multiple tabs on Firefox by clicking the + (Open A New Tab). Now nothing happens when I click this button.
Uninstall the '''''Ask Toolbar''''' ('''''if you have it installed'''''). It can cause that problem.

How do I get a new tab to open up in a blank page instead of a pre-set one?
When I open a new tab, I would like it to open up a blank page, not this site: http://start.facemoods.com/?a=ust&f=2
Since you have an extension called "Facemoods", I would guess it has something to do with that extension. Go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions , locate "Facemoods" and click on it, click either Disable or Uninstall , restart Firefox by clicking Restart Firefox in the Extensions window. Test.

How do I get a new tab to open with my fave search engine?
I have Vista with the updated Firefox. I want my favorite search engine to automatically load when I select a new tab. So far, I can only get a blank page or preset group of tabs to load, not my search engine. I can get this with IE, how can I do this with Firefox? When I updated the Ask&Record toolbar to the Freecorder Community Toolbar, I deselected the changes, hoping this would not change my settings, but it seems that didn't work as expected.
You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.

How do I get my new tab to open to google search?
My page used to open to avg secure search for new tabs. I figured out how to disable it but now cannot figure out how to set it so that my new tabs open to a google search.
ThanksActually it does.
A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that wasn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior and you probably did disable that extension.
You need another extension if you want a new tab to open with a specific page.
You can use an extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
*NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
*My Homepage: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/my-homepage/
You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab. -
How can I get a new tab to open to a specific page?
I use speed dial add-on and have for a few years. I had an issue with firefox yesterday and had to reinstall it and lost all my settings. I added the speed dial add-on and tried to set it as my home page, but when I restart instead of going to speed-dial it goes to a new tab page and the homepage has changed in the options setting. No matter how many times I try and switch startup page/home page to speed dial, it keeps changing back to new tab.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved -
How can I get a new tab to open to my homepage, instead of a blank, untitled page?
When I click on the + to open a new tab, I would like that new tab to open to my homepage, not just to a blank, untitled page. I have looked through the help pages, but have not been able to find any instructions on how to make this happen. Is it possible, or am I asking too much?
You can do that by using an add-on such as:
* NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
* New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/ -
How can I get my new tabs to open to my homepage?
When I open a new tab, I want the tab to open straight to my set homepage. For example, my homepage is set to Yahoo.com, so when I open a new tab, how can I make it so that tab will open right to Yahoo.com?
Not an efficient way of using Firefox, in my opinion. There used to be a configuration option to do that but that no longer works, but either of these two extensions will do that.
[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/777 New Tab Homepage]
(7KB), or
[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2221 NewTabURL] (47KB).
What I think would be better is to only open your home page when Firefox first opens. To open a Yahoo page later, use a keyword shortcut -- see [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm Firefox Keyword Shortcuts] -
How do i get my new tabs work?
I use to be able to open new tabs, until lately i tried it did not work. How do I fix this issue. I tried to computer restore already but that is not solve the issue.
The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons -
