How do I hide an ap div tag or layer in order to access the table or image under it?

Since Dreamweaver CC 2014 has gotten rid of the layers features I can't find out how to 'hide' my existing layers made in an older version in order to select the images or tables under it. I'm not a professional web designer, I just do this for my own business' websites and can't afford to redesign the whole thing at the moment but I need to edit a few things. Basically, I want to extend the page by replacing the short band of dark green with a larger one, and add more text to the FAQ. If I really need to I guess I can add a link for an additional page but I'm trying to avoid that. This is the page I am trying to edit, if it helps: Fancy Fairy Wings Frequently Asked Questions

APDivs are contra-indicated in modern web design. But.... you can turn off CSS in DW's Design View.
Go to View > Style Rendering > un-tick Display Styles.
This will disable styles while you work but it won't effect Live View or Preview in browsers.
The alternative is to stay away from positioning and table layouts. Learn to use modern web design methods:
CSS Box Model
CSS Margins
CSS Floats
CSS Padding
CSS Borders
If you're not learning new stuff, you're falling hopelessly behind the curve. That's not good for a business. Just saying...

IE7 seems to "hide" text in DIV tags

Hi Guys
How can I solve this? I would like to have the text horizontally and vertically centered in the DIV-tags. It goes quite well but in Internet Explorer 7 it only shows half of the text.
How to solve this?
And an additionnal question: I would like the lowest of the three buttons to be nearly pasting to the bar you can see under it. In Internet Explorer, that goes smoothly, but in Google Chrome or Firefox there's a lot of space between the button and the bar?

I'm not certain what you're using now, but I would write the css code something like this...
.centered {
     font-family:verdana;
     font-size:12px;
     font-weight:bold;
     line-height:20px;
     text-align:center;
     width:150px;
     height:20px;
     background-color:purple;
     border-radius:5px;
Then the html would look like this...
<div class="centered">some text</div>
It's hard to say what's going on with yours though without a link to the actual page.

Thanks Nancy. I appreciate this. I do have another question, though. I did try to adjust the margins in my Dreamweaver body style sheet and it didn't seem to work. Do you know why this is?
Also, I did add this code. It worked except that the "Laura Lee Summers" and the subtle wave imagery stay in place while everything else centers. The Laura Lee Summer and the wave image is in the container div tag so I am confused.

Elements 11 vs 13: how can I add a new place tag to my PSE13 database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology that Elements 13 wants to impose.

I have recently installed Elements 13 having used Elements 11.0 successfully to build a database of 30,000 plus images indexed by place, people, and photo date. Elements 11 allowed me to add new places which are meaningful to me but which are a complete mystery to the mapping technology of Elements 13. For example some years ago I lived in London in a road called Argyle Road. In elements 11 I could enter the place tag as Argyle Road. In Elements 13 I am required to locate Argyle Road on the map, but the map presupposes that the Argyle Road I am referring to is in Ealing in West London. It is not!
I now live in a place called Broadsands but the Elements 13 Map places this 0.5 miles away from what I would describe as Broadsands.
So the question: how can I add a new place tag to my database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology that Elements 13 wants to impose.

Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.

How can I restrict more then one user to access the table?

Hi !
I have a problem and two solutions and I am a bit confused as to
which one is the best one and/or can there be any better way of
handling the problem ?
Problem : I have to update a key field of a table when I update
it in the form 5.0 screen. I am basically doing a maintenance of
a table and if a certain field is updated then the change has to
be reflected in two more tables. But the issue is that the field
is a part of the key in those two tables. So all I can think of
is that I need to insert new set or rows for that new value of
the field and delete the old set of records for old values of
the field.
There are two ways of doing it;
1.One option can be to explicitely define two cursors separately
and fetch the values in them one by one and then insert the new
records and then delete the old records in both the tables. This
I feel will be a cumbersome process both in terms of processing
time and the coding.
2.Second option I was thinking can be to create two flat tables
(without keys) and insert the values in them and update the
changed field there and then insert the rows in the respective
tables. Delete the old records in the main tables and delets the
records in these flat tables. This is a bit more faster and
easier to predict and code. This seems to be a better option for
me.
Any comments on these ?
In both the cases I was thinking of making some provision so
that more then one person can't update the table simultaneously.
Since if there are more then one persons doing the processing
then some inconsistency might creep into the whole process.
This is easier to do in the second process as if I check the
data in the flat tables and if there is some data then I can
presume that some one is doing the processing and I can ask the
other person to hold for a while. But in this case how can I
stop more then two people to simultaneously check for the empty
table and start inserting the record ?
I was just thinking of having a sepatare table having only one
field and this will be a key field and as the process begins the
process will insert a fix value say 'Y' in the key field and at
the end of the process the record will be deleted and this way
we can restrict the user to access the process more then one at
a time..? Since you can't have same value of the key in a table
more then once.
Any better way of handling it will be deeply appreciated.
How about locking the table at the begining and releasing the
lock at the end ? Will there be any issue in that? since I am
inserting and deleting the rows in the same transaction.

How about performing the update IN the database using a stored
procedure?
By using non-database fields on your form to get the
information, you can then call the procedure in the database to
perform the updates. If an error occurs in the procedure you
rollback, if necessary, and send a message or status back to the
form. If it succeeds you might wish to commit and then re-
execute the form's query -- using either the original key values
or the new key values...

How to get AppleTalk on OS X Lion. I need it to access the server.

I was using G5 and had Leaord on it. I was not able to update any new softwares on it as it was not intel based. I bought a new machine Mac Pro and now there is no appletalk on it.
Does anyone know how I can access appletalk from lion or is there any other alternative i can access the server.
Please let me know. I have been looking about but i am not able to find any solution.

AppleTalk is gone since Snow Leopard. There's no way to use it on Lion. But isn't clear what you need. Do you still want to use your G5? Or you need only to transfer files onto your new Mac Pro?

How To Center Fluid Grid Layout Div Tag

Hello I am remaking my webiste and am new to fluid grid layouts. I am trying to center the images you will see in my website into the middle.
I can use pixels to center it but it will not be centered for all screen resolutions. What do I have to change in the css rule defintion to center it all out or simply move it to the side?

HT1420 I forgot what computers I have authorized. How do I find out what computers I have authorized in order to deauthorize the computers I don't want

This is a question more for my mother. She has already authorized 5 computers, but she is pretty positive she hasn't. How do we find out how to find out what computers she has authorized, so we can deauthorize computers she doesn't want. Does it matter if it was an old computer that we don't have anymore, or is it based on accounts that are authorized?

Sign in to the account in question, go to Account Information and under Account ID Summary, you need to Deauthorise All. Then Authorise just the computer(s) you do want.

How can I access the thumbnail/preview image of a PSD file?

Hey guys I'm trying to salvage some work from a corrupted PSD file via the thumbnail. What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesnt seem to be any - Ive pretty much given up on trying to repair the original file.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it. Any help would be very appreciated!!

I have an idea to try... Earlier I mentioned the Windows Picture Viewer... Normally that won't read PSD files, but I'm used to using that to look into PSD files because at one point I bought the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack.
Something to try, and it won't cost anything:
1. Try downloading and installing the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack from here: http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/
2. Once it's installed you get a free trial period, so you can try opening your PSD file by right-clicking on it and choosing Preview.
If that fails, here's another thing to try:
Open the Bridge component of Photoshop and navigate to the folder in which you have the file. It may be able to make a larger thumbnail than the one you're seeing.
Other than that, are you saying you're seeing the thumbnail in Windows Explorer? If that's the case, what happens if you right-click in the white space near the file and choose View - Extra Large Icons?

In order to access the web, I need to set the MTU on my iPad 2 to 1392 (standard rate is 1500). How do I do this?

My ISP is called iBurst and operates in South Africa and Australia. In order to load/download or browse on the web, you have to set the MTU to 1392 (it
is by default 1500).
To do this on my iMac & MacBook Pro, you use [System Prefs - WiFi - Advanced - Hardware] and configure the MTU manually.
I cannot find a way of doing this on my iPad 2. I did download the Airport Utility for the iPad, but like the Airport Utility for Mac, it
has no option for setting MTU.
Is there any way to manually change the MTU on the iPad?

I may be mistaken, but I think the MTU setting is in your WiFi router, not in the iPad. If you have already configured the MTU using your Mac, that should be sufficient.
If the iPad still does not browse the web, I would try unplugging the WiFi router for a few seconds. Then reset the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

Did you create a new Apple ID? Or did you update your existing one. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID under which they were purchased. If you created a new Apple ID, you will still need to use the old one to update apps. It doesn't matter that the address is no longer one you used. The thing you want to do is change the Apple ID to the new email address.

How do I, or can I, do a rollover with, or between, three div tags?

I am currently using Dreamweaver CS3 on my MacBook Pro.
I am new to Dreamweaver and have been studying tutorials on Lynda.com at the "essential" level.
The series of Dreamweaver CS3 videos I have been following on Lynda.com are done by Garrick Chow.
However, what I still do not know how to do is link a shape to both an image and to text.
The shape, the image, and the text are all contained within their own div tags.
Why did I go so "div tag crazy"? It's because I went with what I can understand so far.
The concept of movable div tags, for me, was both one of the easiest concepts to understand and one of
the easiest things to create so far in my studies of Dreamweaver CS3.
Anyway, I think the image below pretty much spells out what I'm looking for

You can learn to code, pay the $99 to join the developers program, purchase a Mac if you don't have one (it's required to develop for iOS) and install the correct tools. There are a number of books available on the subject, some in the iBookstore, I'm sure.

Div tag - how do you keep text within box

I have looked at many of the sample documents where the
columns, div boxes, etc are layed out for you. Margins and padding
are set. However it seems when I type text within the boundry I can
just keep typing clear outside the boundries. Shouldn't the text
auto-wrap to stay within the box. What good does it do to have the
div tag settings if they don't enclose the text for you? What am I
missing here.

Put a space in what you are typing, please. See what happens.
