How do I know what Jdeveloper is using for a CLASSPATH?

yeah yeah yeah I know do
c:> echo $CLASSPATH
... or ... or look at
control panel > system > environment
Those tricks still don't tell me what
JDeveloper thinks it is using for
a classpath ... I am new to NT and
these IDE things so any help would
be nice.
Thanks

The easiest way is to compile and run inside the IDE (it is an
integrated environment after all). You can do this with the
Build, Make and Run menu items on the context menu of a java
file or project.
If for some reason, you need to compile on the command line, you
will indeed need to set the classpath environment variable
manually or pass it in as an argument to javac or java. You
could copy it from the JDeveloper output window (after compiling
inside the IDE) and paste it into a command prompt.
Was there some other specific way you'd like the IDE to
integrate with the windows command prompt?

  • How do you know what classes to use ?

    Hello,
    This may sound daft - but how do you know what classes to use to do a particular task ? For example to do password-related stuff - how would I know which classes are all relevant to that ? Am I supposed to buy a book on the classes as the API documentation doesn't really tell you WHEN to use which classes.

    If you're using JSP, then your password field is likely going to be implemented in HTML. So that's nothing to do with Java. (And you can't use a JPassword field in a JSP page.) But when that field comes back to your server, you may be using Java to authenticate it. Even there, the question is not yet what Java method you are going to use, but what methodology. You could have a database to authenticate against, or an LDAP directory. Or you could have the web server use its built-in authentication, which means you don't have to do any Java coding at all. And there are other ways.
    So the question before yours is, how do you know what methodology to use? Again, that comes down to experience.

  • Does anyone know what ppqryErrorList is used for in EssOtlQueryMembersEx?

    Given a calcscript, I'm wondering if I can get a list of errors back it has multiple errors (e.g. member not found, syntax error etc.) when I run EssOtlQueryMembersEx.
    I've looked at the documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_api/api_c/otlc/funcs/apcfqmex.htm) and looks like ppqryErrorList does the job for me. However, I'm getting a NULL pointer to ppqryErrorList regardless or whethere there's an error or not.
    e.g. when I call "@ICHILD(blah)" with EssOtlQueryMembersEx I'm hoping the error list (ppqryErrorList) will contain "member not found blah" but it infact returns NULL.
    This parameter on EssOtlQueryMembersEx must be there for a reason. Does anyone know what this is used for?
    Btw, I'm using Essbase 7

    I just redeemed an itunes card how do I know what my balance is for my account

    If you are on your computer's iTunes and you are signed into your account then it should show at the top of the iTunes store pages next to your account id - or you can log into your account via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and it should show on the top section of the screen that you are taken to.
    On an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch it should show on, for example, the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app or the Music tab in the iTunes app next to your id.

  • How Respond() function knows what NID to use

    Hi, I need to respond a notification from my application, I read a lot of message about it, but I can't see how to get the notification ID (NID) to call respond() function, I saw the following example about it:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "RESPOND"
    ( itemtype in varchar2,
    itemkey in varchar2,
    response in varchar2,
    responder in varchar2) is
    x_sqlcode NUMBER;
    x_sqlerrm char(512);
    nid NUMBER;
    begin
    select B.notification_id into nid
    from owf_mgr.WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES_V A,
    owf_mgr.WF_NOTIFICATIONS_VIEW B
    where A.item_type = itemtype
    and A.item_key = itemkey
    and A.ACTIVITY_STATUS_CODE = 'NOTIFIED'
    and A.NOTIFICATION_ID = B.GROUP_ID
    and B.RECIPIENT_ROLE = responder;
    dbms_output.put_line('NID='||nid || ' RESPONSE='||response );
    owf_mgr.wf_notification.setAttrText(nid, 'RESULT', response);
    owf_mgr.wf_notification.respond(nid,null,responder);
    EXCEPTION
    When others then
    x_sqlcode := sqlcode;
    x_sqlerrm := sqlerrm;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('Error #: ' || x_sqlcode);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (SUBSTR(1,70,x_sqlerrm));
    end RESPOND;
    but whats happend when the SELECT result is 2 nid's, because this workflow is waiting for 2 different notifications (from 2 different activities) at the same time ...
    How I know what NID use?
    how can I to distinguish both NID's?

    Typically you want to replicate in your code what SAP is doing in theirs... I find the easiest way to achieve this is to turn on debugging (/h) and run the standard SAP transaction, and set Breakpoint > At Statement > Authority-Check and see what gets triggered... then you can be pretty sure you are checking the same objects, fields, and values.

  • How do you know what HDD to get for MacBook?

    Hi,
    I've read loads of posts but am really a average Mac user and don't know much about memory/hard drives or any hardware to be honest.
    I have a MacBook which I bought in January 2009. It's a 13 inch aluminium one so I think that makes it the late 2008 model as that's all I can find when I'm searching. I bought the 160GB model which I think was a 2 ram.
    I now have about 95GB free but software takes ages to load sometimes the icon bounces for a while, software also freezes or lags too.
    Does this mean if I get a bigger hard drive these problems will go? I've had it just nearly 3 years and really don't want to buy another one as they're expensive. I took it in to apple and they did a complete refresh or something so it was like new but still after I put all my work back on the memory went down again and problems came back.
    I have no idea how to change the hard drive although I can see it when I open the battery cover.
    Could anyone help me pick one I just want the most storage I found this link but am confused on which one to pick or if they're any good: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=1657&catid=1660&subid=1667
    Do I then have to get RAM too? How do I know it will work and not ruin my laptop?
    Don't I have to put the OS back on? I bought the upgrade through the app store as It came with leopard and I got the disk update for snow leopard so which disk do I use?
    Also where does my work go, should I move it all onto a USB first then move it to the new one?
    I'm sorry I just really can't deal with it slowing down as I have a lot of things open as I'm doing my dissertation, but also don't want to risk losing all my files at this stage as it's my last year at university and don't want to lose any work or files/ software like word etc.
    I do use time machine has I bought an external to try get rid of the problem but when I connect the external one in using USB my mac starts to slow down and freeze up anyway.
    Sorry if this is a lot and if it's already been asked but I'm just so confused, I asked the apple store if they can do it but they said they can't and to look online and google around.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    If that's not a typo and you really do have 95GB free on your 160GB hard disk, it is unlikely that a larger hard drive will noticeably speed up your system. If it was a typo, and you have only 95MB free, then yes, you are extremely short of hard disk space, and a larger hard drive would absolutely help.
    Here's a step by step video that shows the process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcMtKfDIKHY
    You need a small phillips screwdriver and a Torx T6 to accomplish the task. Since your old drive still works, you should probably purchase an external USB enclosure for it, and use it to transfer data from your old drive to your new drive before installation. Then you'll have the old drive as an additional external drive for backup or 'testing' OS upgrades.  I use mine to download and install the latest OS X upgrades before installing them on my 'working' machine.
    Apple MacBook internal hard drives are usually 5400 rpm. A 7200 rpm drive will give you a slight performance boost, without significantly reducing battery life or increasing noise or heat. Recent floods in Thailand have shut down major hard disk manufacturers and have significantly increased hard drive prices, so if you still have 95GB free, you should wait until prices stabilize in a few months. If you DO need to purchase a drive, a 500GB model is likely to meet your storage needs for a long time. Internal Macbook hard drives need to be 2.5" SATA, and a maximum of 9.5mm in height.  From the vendor you linked to, these drives are listed:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=1657&catid=1660&subid=1667
    I haven't tried hybrid or SSD drives, so I won't comment on either of them.
    A RAM memory upgrade would be my first recommendation.
    Snow Leopard runs quite well on 4GB RAM. Your MacBook unibody (the aluminum one) can use 2GB, or 4GB, RAM modules, up to a total of 8GB. Details here: http://blog.macsales.com/9102-secret-firmware-lets-late-08-macbooks-use-8gb.
    It is likely that you currently have two 1GB RAM modules inserted, so purchasing a set of two 2GB modules or two 4GB modules is the best solution. If you intend to upgrade to OS X Lion 10.7 eventually, I'd purchase the 2x4GB=8GB RAM upgrade now, rather than just 4GB. I've purchased several hard disk and RAM upgrades for family Macs from OtherWorldComputing, www.macsales.com. I'm not sure that www.macsales.com sells in the UK.
    Macs are finicky about RAM, and you should be certain before purchase that your Apple reseller GUARANTEES it will work reliably or let you return it and get a refund. Even 'name brand' RAM that seemingly meets all the specs is not always reliable.
    I'll also mention my experience with the performance of Snow Leopard.  I'm still using Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.7 for performance reasons.
    I have a mid-2007 MacBook with 4GB (3GB RAM is the maximum usable on my particular system) RAM and a 500GB 7200 RPM hard drive.
    When I updated to 10.6.8 on my 'temporary' drive, I found that Safari browsing was significantly slower with LOTS of beachballs, and overall system performance seemed noticeably slower, so after a week (given time for indexes to update and so on) or so I reinstalled from the Snow Leopard CD (10.6.3) and downloaded the Combo Update to 10.6.7, instead of automatically updating all the way to 10.6.8.
    Hope that helps!
    Finally, I'm shocked that an Apple Store would not be more helpful!

  • Anyone know what these are used for??

    Hi All,
         I am putting together some documentation for a CUP implemenation and I have come accross three configuration options in CUP that I have no idea what they pertain to and I can't find any documenation on them.
    1.  What is the "SAP EP LDAP" connection type used for?
    2.  What are SOD Review Process Rejected and UAR Review Process Rejected background jobs used for?

    About "What are SOD Review Process Rejected and UAR Review Process Rejected background jobs used for?", I just talked to an SAP person today to explained to me that this is a job your sec admin would run for example in a UAR review when a particular user in a request had been "rejected" (e.g. "this person doesn't work for me, so I need to reject him so he can get sent to the right mgr").   When the reviewer (mgr) rejects the user, then the admin figures out based on the reason (e.g. changed jobs, terminated, etc) what action to take.  For instance may be to cancel the request for termination.  If the user has changed jobs, then the sec admin would need to go to the LDAP (or whatever source you use) to fix up the mgr<->employee relationship info, then run this "Process Rejected" job.  The rejected user will then be put into a new request, and the rest of the original request can be processed by the 1st mgr.   I haven't tried all this yet, but sounded reasonable to me...

  • Does anyone know what software is used for creating this?

    I have seen this effect on a few television adverts and wondered how I would go about creating it.
    In this click the ball is kicked and as it gets to the screen it "breaks" into pieces and the ball comes out of the screen - I know this isnt the same ball as seen in the clip and it had been recreated in probably a 3d package such as cinema 4d but how do I get the breaking into pieces like that -

    In this clip the person just starts breaking into pieces -
    http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2gc2.png
    I guess they are both done using the same software and effect and all I really want to know is the software and effect used. Any additional help would be appreciated but I would like to try and work out the rest for myself - I'm halfway along a learning curve!
    PS - Both stills are taken from the OneSize Showreel.

  • How do I know what battery I need for my MacBook Pro?

    Hello, Is there a way to find out what model the battery is that I need for my MacBook Pro without tearing it apart? I have the serial number and also the Hardware UUID, whatever that is. If I have to tear it apart I will, but I'm hoping to keep that to a minimum as I'm afraid to tempt fate!

    skink - thanks for the kind words.
    Depending on your model (check under the Apple menu, "About This Mac", "More Info...", "System Report..." and tell me your Model Identifier. Mine, for instance, says (under Hardware Overview):
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name:    MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier:    MacBookPro8,2
    Depending on your model, a 'good' number of cycles might be as low as 300 or as high as 1,000. But if the condition is "normal," as you say (and as mine reads) you really shouldn't have anything to worry about.
    If it's a battery that needs to be replaced by an Apple tech, it's 'built-in,' meaning you can't just turn it over and change the battery (such was the case with my 2006 1,1 model and some models after that).
    It's always good to keep an eye on battery health and to use some methods of keeping your CPU load at a minimum when using battery power. Viewing movies, whether in the DVD player or those that are on your computer, will really tax your CPU and result in lower battery life. To maximize your battery life, try to have as few apps open as possible when under battery power - particularly those that drain your CPU. You can keep and eye on this by keeping Activity Monitor, in your Utilities folder, open at all times. If you see a process that's taking 10+% of your CPU load, that's an app you should close or at least keep an eye on - my Firefox browser will sometime get in the 13% range, but I don't worry about that.
    Battery use is, for me, primarily about Internet browsing and email. I keep open Firefox, Outlook, Activity Monitor, Word, Acrobat, Word, TextEdit, and a few other small apps and I generally get 7+ hours on battery time.
    I would also suggest using two little utilities to keep an eye on battery usage - one is "Battery Health" available at the App Store free. The other is gfxCardStatus which will let you use discrete graphics, changing your GPU to the less intensive processor. It's available at http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus and is "Mountain Lion ready" as of it's latest release.
    Good luck - see how many more hours you can eke out of that battery before thinking about having it replaced. As much as I use mine, I know that I'm going to go over the 1,000 cycle mark before my AppleCare expires, so I know that I'm going to have to get it replaced. But for now, I'm getting the advertised hours and am quite happy.
    Regards,
    Clinton

  • Does anyone know what software was used for Mac Welcome Video?

    As you may remember when you turned your mac on for the first time, a ver neat welcome video played with upbeat music. Well I just wanted to know if anybody knew what program(s) was used to make it. If you know or have any idea please tell me. Thanks!

    Hi and welcome to discussions. I tried to find something about it, but was not successful. I would guess though that this has been made using some of Apple's own software, everything else would not really make sense. And there actually is one tool in the portfolio capable of creating something like that: Motion. So, as an educated guess, I would say that's the one.

  • How can I tell what library is used for readdir?

    I have a problem that a program responds differently on two different unix machines, both of which are running Solaris 2.6, and using the same C compiler (4.2)
    "readdir" returns a "struct dirent" where the d_name is offset by two bytes on one of the machines.
    I have used ldd to detemine the libraries to which it is linked, and although they are linked in a different order, the libraries on each machine are byte identical. I have also proved that the program includes the same dirent.h file on both machines.
    Dumping information from the libraries shows that there is a readdir function in /usr/lib/libc.so.1 and /usr/ucblib/libucb.so.1.
    My assumption is that the header files give the same offset into the structure, but that one of the libraries is returning a differently constructed structure.
    How can I find out if the program is calling the same one at run time?
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    I am reasonably sure that the lib that appears first in the ldd output is the
    lib that is supplying the routine. One way to make sure is to use dbx to
    set a breakpoint in readdir. If there are multiple copies of the readdir
    symbol, which there should be in this case, it will prompt you with a list
    of shared libraries that have the symbol and ask which one you want to
    stop in. Pick one, then run your program. It will either hit the breakpoint,
    in which case it is satisfying the symbol from the lib that you picked, or
    it will not hit the breakpoint, in which case it is not getting it from that lib.
    Delete the first breakpoint, then set another breakpoint in the same routine
    and tell it to stop in the other lib. The fact that it stopped in the first lib
    means that it's not likely to stop in the second lib, but there are ways for
    it to hit both or neither. Check them both.
