How do I make an Array of an object?

If I have the following class:
public class myStruct {
     String pid;
     String name;
How do I make an array of myStruct's?
I tried to do something like this
public class MyTest {
public static void main ( String [] args ) {
     System.out.println( "test myStruct");
     myStruct [] k = new myStruct[ 10 ];
     k[0].pid = "1";
     k[0].mnemonic = "test";
     System.out.println( k[0].pid );
It compiles, but I get "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at MyTest.main
I know I am doing something wrong, any ideas how I could do something like this?

in class myStruct,
public class myStruct {
String pid;
String name;
there is no 'String mnemonic;".
in class MyTest, you have a line that reads
k[0].mnemonic = "test";
when there is no String mnemonic in myStruct. maybe that's why.

  • How do you make the background of an object transparent in Adobe Illustrator?

    Hello Forum.
    How do you make the background of an object transparent in Adobe Illustrator?
    I have been having issues with using the Magic Wand tool in Adobe Illustrator as well as the lasso tool.
    Basically, I am trying to put a small graphic into a new Illustrator file.
    The first thing I tried to do is to use the magic wand tool.  But I found out that this did not work on a jpeg image since it did not have any individual objects to select.
    So I tried something new.  I opened the file in Adobe Photoshop and used the lasso tool to select an area.  Then I coped this area.  Then I tried to paste it into Adobe Illustrator.  But the background was not transparent for the pasted image.
    How do I make the background transparent.
    I made this small video to show what I am talking about:

    Don't Copy/Paste the image.
    Make it transparent in Photoshop, save a PSD and place it in Illustrator

  • How do I make an Array Of Strings

    I want to make a program that will accept up to 10 lines of text but maybe less depending on the what the user want to put in... i can't seem to figure out where i put the number after a string... after String [10] text; or String text[10]?? am i even going about this correctly??
    thanks,
    Disco Hristo

    No, you are not.
    You need to do something like:
    String [] text = new String[ 10 ];Remember, Java creates all objects on the Heap. So you tell an array the appropriate size to be when you actually allocate an array with new.

  • How do u make an array of objects

    I have 2 classes Helper and HelperWorker
    Helper has a constructor which looks like this public
    Helper(String Iname, double IhoursWorked) {
              name = Iname;
              hours = IhoursWorked;
    }I have two arrays in the HelperWorker class with the following values
    String Names[] = {"Tim Brown","Jack Blink","Pat Gold","Jim Done","Eloise Tricot"};
         double Work[] = {35,50,34,22,71};I need to create an array of Helper class objects, using the arrays Names and Work, representing 5 helpers with hours each of them worked.
    can some one help becuse i can not see any way I used a forloop to create an object but that only Initialize s the same object x number of times. also on arrays i wanted to know if i want to change the values of array x[2] with a varible y how do i append or replace the value at x[2].

    Try this:
    class Helper

         Helper(String Iname, double IhoursWorked)
              name = Iname;

  • How do i make a array of user defined structure and creat a pointer for the same

    Function
    The prototype of the dll function is
    unsigned long PassThruIoctl(unsigned long A, unsigned long B, void *pvar1, void *pvar2);
    "void *pvar1" and "void *pvar2" are pointers to different Structures. The value of  "unsigned long B" will determine what kind of Structure the pointer will represent.
    One sample structure is given below when pvar1 is the pointer to SCONFIG_LIST.
    typedef struct
          unsigned long ParameterID;    // this an input to the dll
          unsigned long Value;          // this is an output from dll
    } SCONFIG;
    typedef struct
          unsigned long NumOfParams;    // the no. of elements(SCONFIG) in array
    (input)
          SCONFIG *ConfigPtr;           // the pointer to array of SCONFIG
    (input)
    } SCONFIG_LIST;
    The function is supposed to get the values of configuration parameters (from an external interfacing device).
    When I tried to run the function as shown in the attached VI, I always end up with error. The error I get is saying something about DLL corrupting the memory of Lab View.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    What will be the structure for pVar2?
    One issue that I can see in you code is, for pvar1 instead of passing an array of clusters, you are passing a cluster of SCONFIG. Also you need to initialize the numbr of elements in the array before passing it to the DLL (see attached code). In this I have assumed that pVar2 is also expecting a similar input.
    I was not able to run the code here becasue the dll is not there. So please try and let me know.

  • How do I make the camera track an object in motion?

    Hi there,
    I have a scene where two cars are driving down a road. I wonder if there is a behavior to pan the view to automatically follow these cars. (as if a helicopter is flying over and watching a speed chase.) I've got the project set up with one group (entire scene) ecompassing the cars and the map. I tried putting a move behavior on this scene and just draging the scene to show what I want in the view as the cars drive but this is too jumpy for me.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Caleb

  • Array of cfc object help

    I just picked up coldfusion about a month ago, so my
    coldfusion lingo sucks. I have been programming in C++ for over 5
    years now and will be using a lot of C++ terminology to help avoid
    any confusion. I am writing a cfc function that preforms web
    servicing. This function needs to return an object/class that is
    defined in another coldfusion function. I can do this without a
    problem if I only need to return one instance of this object.
    However, I cannot seem to return an array of this object (I need to
    return multiple instances of this object, kind of like a query, but
    for programming purposes it needs to stay as an object).
    It seems that the webservicing function hates my return type.
    If I try to make an array of the object, it does not like array or
    the object as the return type. However, when I take this function
    out of the cfc, and make it a cfm, it gets the array of objects
    just fine. So, I think I am having issues with the return type on
    the <cffunction> tag. So I came up with the idea of creating
    another object which will hold an array of the first object and
    using the second object as the return type. Here is some psuedo
    code of the function I am working on:
    <cffunction name="SelectGames" access="remote"
    returntype="ArrayOfGames" output="false">
    <!-- arguments --->
    <!--- query --->
    <cfobject component = "myArray" name>
    <cfobject component="games" name="test">
    <cfset counter = 0>
    <cfloop query="getevents">
    <cfset counter = counter + 1>
    <cfset test.Game_id = event_id>
    <cfset test.gameDate = eventdate>
    <cfset test.Starttime = starttime>
    <cfset test.Place = place>
    <cfset test.Level = level>
    <cfset test.Sport = sport>
    <cfset test.Gender = division>
    <cfset test.Opponent = opponent_id>
    <cfset test.Type = type>
    <cfset test.Link = spec_name>
    <cfset myArray.gamesArray[counter] = test>
    </cfloop>
    <cfreturn myArray>
    </cffunction>
    It keeps telling me that it does not recognize the return
    type.
    Here are examples of the two objects I am using from the 2
    dif. cfc files:
    <cfcomponent>
    <cfproperty name="gamesArray" type="array">
    </cfcomponent>
    <cfcomponent>
    <cfproperty name="Game_id" type="numeric">
    <cfproperty name="gameDate" type="date">
    <cfproperty name="Starttime" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Place" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Level" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Sport" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Gender" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Opponent" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Type" type="string">
    <cfproperty name="Link" type="string">
    </cfcomponent>
    Feel free to post any questions to clear anything up, I know
    this is confusing and I probably did a poor job of explaining my
    problem. Also, if I throw this code into a cfm and try to make an
    array of games, it works, this is the code I got it to work with:
    <cfset myArray = newArray(1)>
    <cfloop query="getevents">
    <cfset counter = counter + 1>
    <cfset test.Game_id = event_id>
    <cfset test.gameDate = eventdate>
    <cfset test.Starttime = starttime>
    <cfset test.Place = place>
    <cfset test.Level = level>
    <cfset test.Sport = sport>
    <cfset test.Gender = division>
    <cfset test.Opponent = opponent_id>
    <cfset test.Type = type>
    <cfset test.Link = spec_name>
    <cfset myArray[counter] = test>
    </cfloop>
    I guess my problem is I do not know how to specify a type for
    an array.

    The return type of this FUNCTION would be returnType="array".
    No matter
    what kind of data the array contained.
    That's what I get for fast proofing.

    Use the hashtable
    and store the classObject of each customer with the corresponding Id in it
    and whenever u want to recover a class match the Id and get the corresponding class
    that is the best way to solve ur problem

  • How can I make an invalid dynamic disk Array available to the OS again

    Hello Storage Pros
    The setup
    I have a Promise VTrak E610f head unit with 2 VTrak 610j expansion units attached to it together giving me over 27 TB of usable storage space.
    At the hardware level I slip the storage into 6 parts containing 7
     1TB disks and had the parts  configured into 6 RAID 6 arrays. In the end; each of the 6 arrays gives me 4.6TB of usable storage space.
    On the OS level, I have the storage attached to 2 servers: Windows server 2008 and windows server 2008 R2 over a Qlogic fiber channel switch. Each of the 6 arrays are viewable as basic disks of 4,6Tb which I went on to configure as a single RAID 0
    spanned volume of 27TB and for that all the disks had to be converted to dynamic.
    The problem
    Now comes the problem: On my first attempt to do a firmware update on the VTrak E610f storage; all the volumes were rendered foreign and I had to import them to be able to use them. Although the import was successful, I lost all the set NTFS permissions
    and SMB share and I had to manually reconfigure them. Upon doing so The OS registered some inconsistencies in the storage and recommended that I ran chkdsk. Since the storage is that big I reluctantly complied and restarted the server.
    The first server was restarted BUT chkdsk did not commence as scheduled, the server powered right up. After logging in to inspect; I discovered - to my surprise, that the disks were now shown as invalid in Disk Manager and were no longer visible to
    the OS. Assuming that maybe a restart of the other server and the storage would set things right, I went ahead to do so but to no avail. After rebooting the entire system (including the storage), the other server also displayed the disks as invalid and were
    no longer visible to the OS as well.
    My question is; how can I make the disk available again from this ‘invalid’ state without losing data?
    What I tried but did not help:
    Taking the disks offline and then online again did not work, after the disks were online again, they still appeared as invalid.
    Reactivating the disks threw an error “operation not allowed on an invalid disk pack”
    Calling support of the storage manufacturer: they did not find anything wrong with the system, after 5 hours we had to stop.
    I fear converting the array from dynamic to basic will destroy all the data.
    HxD is showing no errors in the disks
    If there is any expert out there with helpful tips; your assistance will be greatly appreciate.
    Cheers
    John

    Hello  Shoan
    Thanks a lot for your response and tips. Sorry I could not get back to you in good time for I had to run some of the tests you provided, it took some time to
    thoroughly re-test the system.
    The summary
    The initial firmware upgrade attempt forced 3 disks offline and the other 3 became foreign. I had to re-import them to have access again. after re-importing
    the disks I realized  all NTFS permissions and SMB shares of the folders on the disks had disappeared, but at least the disk was visible and accessible at that point - but not fault free. It was recommened that I let chkdsk run. However rebooting the
    system to allow chkdsk to run did not result in chkdsk running, instead chkdsk did not run and after restart, the OS showed the disks as invalid. And that is still the case now.
    Response to your questions:
    Yes the storage array was (and is still) connected to another server 2008 R2 server when the problem occurred. The second server is also displaying the same problem: the disks are shown as invalid.
    The loss of SMB shares and NTFS permissions occurred after the initial firmware upgrade attempt, some disks (3 out of 6 of them) were forcibly offlined and the other 3 were, suddenly, marked as foreign. In the end, and to have access to the disks
    I had to online the offlined 3 disks and then reimport the rest of them. From the way I understand it, if the upgrade was not the cause, then at least it was the trigger.
    In as far as converting disks from dynamic to basic, I was not in luck so far:
    Three of the companies I have contacted (recommended by promise Technology technician) so far only work with smaller disks like 2TB, 27 TB like I have is so
    far too big.
    I’m not sure converting the disks to basic will help much though, since that would break the single 27 TB volume which the OS was working with into 6 individual
    disks of 4.6 TB. Will I be able to get the data back that was written to just one volume from those 6 individual and unrelated disks?
     Above all, I have connected the RAID storage system to a newly installed Server 2008 R2, the disks are also shown as invalid.
    I have spent more than 17 hours in remote sessions with a Promise Technology technician trying the resolve the issue. From the technician’s side all seems in place with the exception
    that the disks are invalid in the OS.
    I have contacted Microsoft Customer Support service with the issue. Given that Microsoft did not manufacture the storage unit, can they help at this point – or am I better off
    putting my hopes else?
    Your help is always appreciated and again, thanks for your response and advice.

  • How to make 1D Array but with only one element filled in Real Time

    Hi folks,
    here I am with another question. I want to implement an prediction discrete state space observer which is going to run on a CRIO real time target. I am going to do it just like in the example which comes with LV.
    I have some questions regarding the input and outputs which in the example those are "dummy".
    My model is a SISO model, but the function "Construct SS model" returns parameters (A,B,C,D Matrices) as 2D arrays, so once you connect the cluster model into the Discrete Observer model, it takes y and u as 1D arrays despite of the fact that there is a SISO model.
    I realized that the function I am using in the simulations, uses 1D arrays but with only one element filled:
    Does anyone knows how to implement such 1D arrays in Real Time? I guess the way to do it is preallocating one array of zeros of size 1, and then recirculating it through some SR, and replacing the element with my real input and output, but at the dummy.vi, they are using a simple "build array"
    function.

    Ok, I did it that way. But I am facing another problem right now...
    At some point the Discrete Observer return a NAN array, you will see the code in the code snippet?
    I get rid of that component by component, but the observer gets "stuck" in it. So my Control law is zero... but the state stimate is NAN.
    Also I am attaching the VI.
    I do not know why, since in the simulation program all runs well. any thoughts? Maybe the internal numeric precision of the State Space Model?

  • How to make an array with ActiveX Excel using Excel_RangeSetValue2?

    Hello,
    I want to make an array on Excel. For that, I'm using two functions : Excel_WorksheetGetRange and Excel_RangeSetValue2.
    I write the array on Excel file but only the first case of the array is copied.
    Here, a part of my program :
    char * DataToWrite = {"A", "B", "C", "D"}
    char cCell[10];
    VARIANT             vCell, Data;
    ExcelObj_Worksheet hWorksheet;
    ExcelObj_Range      hRange;
      CA_VariantSetCString (&vCell,cCell);        //cCell = A1:A4
      Excel_WorksheetGetRange (hWorksheet, NULL, vCell, CA_DEFAULT_VAL, &hRange);
      CA_VariantSetCString (&Data,DataToWrite );
      Excel_RangeSetValue2 (hRange, NULL, Data);
    Here what I obtain when I'm compiling on Excel file :
    A
    A
    A
    A
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You should use other instructions to fill the range of cells:
    strcpy (msg, "A1:A4");
    CA_VariantSetCString (&MyVariant, msg);
    Excel_WorksheetRange (ExcelWorksheetHandle, NULL, MyVariant, CA_DEFAULT_VAL, &ExcelRangeHandle);
    Excel_RangeActivate (ExcelRangeHandle, NULL, NULL);
    // Create a SafeArray from array of data
    CA_VariantSet2DArray (&MyVariant, CAVT_CSTRING, righe, 1, array);
    // Transfer data to Excel range
    Excel_SetProperty (ExcelRangeHandle, NULL, Excel_RangeValue2, CAVT_VARIANT, MyVariant);
    ClearObjHandle (ExcelRangeHandle);
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • How can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

    When the show button is pressed (and not before), a filled black square should be
    displayed in the display area. The combo box (or drop down list) that enables the user to choose the colour of
    the displayed shape and the altering should take effect immediately.When the show button is pressed,
    the image should immediately revert to the black square, the combo box should show the value that
    correspond to the black.
    Now ,the problem is: after I pressed show button, the image is reverted to the black square,but I don't know
    how can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.
    Any help or hint?Thanks a lot!

  • How do I convert an array of BYTES (where each BYTE represents a bit) into a single Hex number?

    I am reading a signal from a USB-8451. This signal is stored as an array where each element represents a bit in the signal, but is stored in the array as a byte. How do I convert this array into a single Hex number. I attatched what I have so far, there are a few extra things to help me see what ia going on. One code uses Queue and the other uses arrays, let me know if you can help.

Trithfully I don't really know how I2C devices work, but my mentor here says that we can't use an I2C method becuase it will introduce voltage into the circuit and may damage out TCON chip.
    That makes absolutely no sense. What do you think is happening when you write the digital lines? You're setting a pin high. That voltage is being generated by the 8451x. I think you're not understanding what your mentor is saying. If it's an I2C device then you should be able to use the I2C function to simply talk to it. You still have not indicated what the device is, so there's little more I can say about that aspect of it.
    As far as the conversion is concerned, you basically need loop through your array of "bits", taking 16 at time since you said you have 16-bit values. It's not clear from your code whether your eventual goal is to get a numeric value or a string. This does not appear to be a subVI, so a simply numeric indicator formatted to display in hex format should be quite adequate. The array you are generating is an array of rings, whose datatype is I32, but they will have values of 0 or 1. You can use the example just posted, or you can use the attached variation.
