How do I manage three catalogs?

I have three catalogues; one for my professional pet photos, one for all my personal stuff, and one for stuff that doesn't quite fit into the other two. It seems that when I work in Lightroom, or even Premier Elements, whatever file I may be working on, or files I may be importing into LR, will get thrown into the organizer of whatever catalog I had opened last. I thought I had proeprly set up my catalogues to watch certain folders, but perhaps I haven't. Its frustrating to open up a folder of pet photos to work on in Lightroom, and then when I go into Elements for something else, to see those photos in the wrong catalogue. How do I set this up properly?
Thanks,
Steven
BTW: I then have to delete them from the catalogue. Is there an easy way to send them to the correct catalogue at the same time I'm deleting them from the wrong one?

This should help you :

  • How Supplier can manage his cataloge from web

    Hi all,
    I'm looking for information about SRM scenario enabling suppiers to maintain his catalog.
    I need to enable:
    - suppliers to upload his cataloge from web into MDM catalog
    - purchaser to see catalog uploaded from vendor and collaborate with him on-line to change and then finally upload it on MDM
    - suppliers to retrieve his cataloges and change it.
    I know that there is the Business Package for Supplier Collaboration but I cannot find more information about it.
    Have you some documentation about it and some ideas about to cover the process above described?
    Thank you so much, in advance.

    It will be backed up on your computer and can later be restored to an iOS device using iTunes, if desired.  Of course, if your hard drive crashes you'll lose it if it isn't backed up somewhere else.  If you want to included it in your computer backup, it will be located at one of the following locations:
    Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
    Windows XP: %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows 7: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

  • How to fix badly confused catalog??

    I used to have two catalogs: one for current or recent shoots (basically 2009 photos), and another for older shoots that I'd finished processing and wanted to archive (basically 2007 and 2008 photos). I decided to merge the two catalogs. I thought I had everything set up properly and thought I knew what I was doing, when I imported the recent catalog (which has fewer photos) into the older catalog.
    I can't tell for sure but it's possible that the import worked in the sense that all the files are now visible in one Lightroom catalog. But otherwise, it's a disaster.
    Here's what I see in Windows Explorer (in other words, here's how the folders are organized on my hard disk):
    My Pictures
    --- RAW MASTERS
    --- --- 2007
    --- --- 2008
    --- --- 2009
    Terrific. That's what I expect to see in Lightroom. But this is what I see in Lightroom. Well, no, what I actually see in Lightroom is even more messed up than this, but this will give you an idea:
    My Pictures
    --- RAW MASTERS
    --- --- 2007
    --- --- 2008
    --- RAW MASTERS
    --- --- 2009
    My Pictures
    --- RAW MASTERS
    --- --- 2009
    Aaargh! I can't figure out what to do. I've tried synchronizing but that doesn't seem to work. And when I try to move the 2009 folder inside the second instance of RAW MASTERS up to the first instance, I'm told that a folder named 2009 already exists at that location and the move is prohibited.
    Can anybody suggest a way out of this mess?
    Thanks in advance.
    Will

    Update, based on new info (discovered since my first post), and also a report on how I appear to have resolved the problem.
    New information
    In my first post, I showed that the My Pictures folder occurred twice in the Lightroom catalog. I initially thought that this was an example of Lightroom's confusion. Actually, that particular duplication was NOT a mistake on Lightroom's part. I just noticed that there were two folders defined on my C: drive inside the Documents and Settings folder, a folder named "Will" (= name of my login account) and a folder named "WP". The folder named "Will" is my actual login account folder, containing all of my documents (not just photos, but also web sites, etc.). The folder named "Will" contained nothing but a My Pictures folder. Inside that was ANOTHER My Pictures folder. And inside that there were a few photo folders. Weird. I have no idea where "WP" came from. Anyway I determined quickly that the few folders found in that odd location, namely,
    C:\Documents and Settings\WP\My Pictures\My Pictures\2009\
    were duplicates of folders that are found in the right place (inside the copy of My Pictures that belonged to user hierarchy "Will"), so I deleted them. Then I synchronized that instance of the My Pictures folder in Lightroom - which caused it to be removed.
    Cleaning up the mess
    That left me with just one My Pictures folder, which was progress. At this point, it looked like this:
    My Pictures
    ALL PIX RAW MASTERS
    2009
    ALL PIX RAW MASTERS
    2007
    2008
    I confirmed that these two instances of "ALL PIX RAW MASTERS" were the same. As I mentioned earlier, I was unable to move the 2009 folder and its contents into the second instance of the parent folder, because Lightroom would tell me that there was already a folder named 2009 in that location, and for the same reason I could not move 2007 and/or 2008 into the first instance of the parent folder.
    So what I did was create a new folder named simply "Raw" inside My Pictures. I created this folder in Lightroom. I was then able to move the three year folders into that new folder, which left me with this:
    My Pictures
    ALL PIX RAW MASTERS (O FILES)
    ALL PIX RAW MASTERS (O FILES)
    Raw
    2009
    2007
    2008
    At which point I simply "removed" both instances of ALL PIX RAW MASTERS, and then renamed "Raw".
    So it seems that I'm back in business.
    Brief opinion
    Having just spent about 3 hours fighting with Lightroom, I hope I may be permitted to vent very slightly.
    I like Lightroom 2.5 generally very much. I'm trying out the Lightroom 3 beta and like the improvements there, too. In addition to liking the program very much, I consider myself a fairly advanced user - not a kung fu master, but pretty adept. I routinely help other photographers with Lightroom matters.
    My only serious complaint about Lightroom - a complaint I've had since version 1 - is that moving and merging and renaming folders in the hierarchy is confusing and fraught with peril. I am sure that Martin Evening has very few problems managing his catalogs. But most of us do this kind of thing - merging catalogs - only very seldom. And so it's natural that, when we need to manage folders and catalogs, we're going to be doing it tentatively, without confidence, and possibly without a complete grasp of what is expected. There are many possible scenarios here (moving one catalog to another hard disk, merging catalogs on the same disk, merging catalogs on different disk, splitting a catalog in two or three, etc.). So I think it's a bit much to expect a user to pull the books off the shelf and read the file management chapters of all of them, in order to understand what Lightroom expects of me.
    That's why I think Lightroom does such a terrible job on this one score. I don't have this problem moving folders around on my hard disk directly, in the Windows Explorer. You should, I think, be able to move files around in Windows Explorer (or the Mac Finder) and have Lightroom sort the changes out automatically - or at least be able to sort them out when asked to do so.
    At the same time that I was combining my Lightroom catalogs of raw files, I was also combining what were originally quite separate folder structures containing exported jpegs. I manage these in Picasa, not in Lightroom. With the jpegs, I simply moved the folders around in Windows Explorer and put them where I wanted them. When I opened Picasa 3.5, it had to spend a little time adjusting - but I did not have to do a thing. Picasa just sorts it out automatically.
    I sometimes wish I could use Picasa as my file management tool and Lightroom simply for processing.
    Anyway, let me say again how great I think Lightroom is as a digital darkroom for processing the thousands and thousands of images I have. I just wish it was easier to manage the folders in Lightroom.

  • How do I manage multiple iTunes users on the same PC?

    Hi- I'm new to iPod and iTunes. We have 3 iPod's in our house but only 1 PC. How can I set up iTunes so we can all manager our music separately? Thank you!!

    I manage three iPods too--mine (a mom of 50+ years old); a son 22 years old; and a daughter 14 years old. Obviously we must all have very different tastes in music!
    You're right we do! But we all share one library--because we like all of our music to be in one place. So all of our iPods are set to MANUALLY update. Then we create playlists that we want to add to our device. This has worked well for over two years now. I have no other advice!

  • How do I manage Lightroom photos when using 2 computers, keeping all edits made on either one?

    Based on http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1308132?tstart=0 I decided to add each question seperately:
    Hello, I'm quite interested in buying Lightroom 5.2. I tried the RC which ran out now. Yet, I have a several questions that I can't really find good conclusive answers to, that I'd like to get answered before buying LR. Please don't write maybe like this or that (assumptions), since I don't want to start my whole workflow and then realize that I have to change everything around, so please answer, if you know for sure that something works and you are, preferably, using that method too.
    This is the biggest question, where I mainly want a conclusive answer:  How do I manage Lightroom photos when using 2 computers, keeping all edits made on either one of them, using the same photos for editing. I won't use DNG. Details: I mainly use my older MacBook Pro, but would like to be able to use my PC as it's way better (Specs: i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, SSD, USB3, nVidia GTX 560 TI etc.). I have 2 external HDs that I could use, one for Backup and one for the actual Photos/Edits. I'll probably need to use it as my internal HDs are quite full, and I can't just delete stuff or move it to an (Developer programs, Lossless music, etc.).
    Based on this, how do I back up the whole thing e.g. Photos folder (all photos and edits, and preferably presets too)?

    I believe it should be possible to work cross-platform without having to relink files each time, or without having to keep exporting/importing the catalog, by keeping the single catalog and the image library on the one external drive which is then switched between systems as needed.
    Obvious first requirement is an external drive that is formatted in such a way (e.g FAT32) that it can be used on both platforms in read/write mode. Given that, if the catalog AND the images parent folder are both established at the same level in one overall parent folder, then it should be possible to take advatage of Lightroom's ability to use relative paths rather than absolute paths to detect the images, no matter if the drive is named (Mac) or lettered (PC). This is how "export as Catalog" works, i.e. it creates a "package", aka a parent folder, containing the catalog and a replica of the exported images folder hierarchy alongside the catalog. Take that "package" to another system (same OS or not) and "it just works" even if the drive letter is different or the OS is different....because the relative path from catalog to images is still the same.
    I haven't tested this cross-platform (though I have between different PC systems with different drive letters) so for me it's still just a theory, but there may be others who have done this successfully.

  • Manage Account does not appear in the options sync tab. How do I manage my account to get the recovery key?

    I cannot sync my Firefox 18 desktop with iPad or iPhone browsers. I have tried everything suggested on the Web and have tried safe mode as well. When I enter the three-line synch code, I get a sync failure. I have deleted my account and then set up a new account without success. Manage Account does not appear in the options sync tab. How do I manage my account to get the recovery key?
    I’ve spent hours on this and am considering using Chrome as my regular browser since I have no trouble syncing Chrome with apps. Help appreciated.

    You can only inspect the sync key via manage account if this device is has been setup and is connected to the sync server.
    You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.
    Look for:
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)
    You can look at this version of the about:synckey extension that I have modified to show the sync key in current Firefox versions (desktop and mobile).

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

    I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

    The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
    The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
    The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
    It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
    If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
    Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .

    How do I create a catalog in elements organizer.  I keep getting the error message Catalog could not be opened, an internal programming error has occurred.

    Which operating system are you running on?
    Which version of Photoshop Elements are you using?
    Try Holding down the shift key while to start the organizer - that should bring up the Catalog Manager.
    Click on the New button (top right)
    Give it a name and click ok
    If it still crashes, you may need to re-install the software.

  • How to create a product catalog in crm(by the end user of the system)?

    what is the diff b/n prod cat and prod?
    we download the prod from r/3.
    how we get the prod cat done in crm for the customers and consumers and how it is done?
    thank you,

    hi
    first of all we need to look at what is catalog management before proceding with product and product catalog.
    You use this business scenario to create a centralized product catalog that contains product descriptions, multimedia objects, pricing, and associated literature. The catalog enables quick and easy customer access to timely and personalized product information, structured in such a way that most meets your customers needs.
    Product catalogs are implemented in sales processes and are of particular importance in CRM Web Channel for presenting your products in the Web shop.
    difference between the product and product catalog
    this is not the thing that product and product catalog are completely different entity.
    Product catalog :   A grouping together of products from your product master data, in a structured hierarchy.
    You use product catalogs to group together products to present them in the Web shop, Interaction Center, or in other forms of media, for example printed format or CD-ROM.
    You can create various catalogs for your products in the product master and use them according to a validity date. For example, you could use certain products for the summer season, and other products for the winter season.
    You can also tailor your product catalog to meet other needs by creating catalog variants. For example, you can create a catalog in English with the prices displayed in US Dollars.
    so by above definition it is very much clear that products are actually assign to the catalog,i will give you an analogy that museum is a kind of catalog and you add different pictures to the museum,in the same way you add product to the product catalog according to the acatlog variant.
    Now how you assign product to product catalog
    Product Assignment
    You assign products manually or automatically to a catalog area, depending on the catalog type. The product ID, product description, and status of all products is displayed, as is the information as to whether the item contains accessories or if it is a configurable product.
    Prerequisites
    You have created products in your product master in SAP CRM under Accounts and Products
    Process
    You select a catalog area in your product catalog, and edit the item list by assigning products to the area.
    Manual Assignment
    You can assign products manually on an individual basis or by copying a catalog area. You tend to choose manual product assignment for marketing-oriented catalogs that are subjected to editorial controls.
          Individual assignment
          In this case you select the catalog area in which the product should be assigned, manually search for the product in the product master, and assign it to the area.
          Copying items from catalog areas
          You select an area or subarea from another catalog and copy it to your new catalog. The system copies all products from the copied area to the new catalog, as long as they belong to the distribution chain assigned to the target catalog variant. From these products, you can then manually determine which products from the copied area you want to keep and which items you wish to delete.
    The following is true for manually assigned products:
          You can activate or deactivate items on an individual basis.
          You can edit the list of accessories for manually assigned products. The system determines which accessories are maintained for the product in the product master and displays them in the item area of the catalog. You select which accessories should be displayed for the product in the catalog and activate them.
          Manually assigned products can be included or removed from catalog views on an individual basis.
    Automatic Assignment
    You can assign products automatically to a catalog by transferring product hierarchies from your product master to the catalog areas. The categories, items, attributes, and documents contained in the product hierarchy are copied to the new catalog.
    You use automatic product assignment mainly for functional catalogs, where products can be copied with very few changes, from the product categories of the product master. It enables a standardized characterization of your products in the catalog.
    The following is true for products assigned to the catalog using product hierarchy transfer:
          Product categories which make up the hierarchies become catalog areas in the catalog.
          Product categories in the product hierarchy must be assigned to the distribution chain to which the target catalog variant is assigned. Otherwise the category is not transferred. The same applies to the items, texts, and documents assigned to the category.
          Items are always active and cannot be individually activated or deactivated.
          Accessories maintained for transferred product in the product master are automatically included and displayed in the catalog.
          Transferred items cannot be individually included in catalog views or removed from them. Instead all items of the hierarchy are always contained in the view.
          Lists of characteristics for transferred categories and items can be automatically created when transferring product hierarchies. The transferred values are included in the item overview of the product catalog.

    now can i manage this in Single jsf page.

    hi,
    open your application module and take the source
    And find out where the view links are Used..
    it may be like this...
    <ViewLinkUsage
        Name="ViewLinkA****1"
        Version="@@@@@@@@@@@@@@"
        ViewLinkObjectName="model.ViewLinkA****"
        SrcViewUsageName="model.AppModule.EmployeeVo5 "
        DstViewUsageName="model.AppModule.LeaveHdrvo6 " // check this
        Reversed="false"/>
      <ViewLinkUsage
        Name="ViewLinkB****1"
        Version="@@@@@@@@@@@@@@"
        ViewLinkObjectName="model.ViewLinkB****"
        SrcViewUsageName="model.AppModule.LeaveHdrvo6"//check this
        DstViewUsageName="model.AppModule.LeaveDetVo7 "
        Reversed="false"/>
      From this you can see that SrcViewUsageName reference, change it as per your need.
    Already in application module you may have different instance names, make sure that you have specified the correct names in the application module.

  • How Best to Manage the Media Cache?

    Hi. I use a Mac Pro and have a 24TB RAID which holds most of my media. My problem is how best to manage the Media Cache which gets very big, certainly to hold on my OS drive (as recommended) . I could store it in a separate "cache" folder on my RAID but will this effect performance? Or is it best to save it with its media? I would rather not trash the Cache files as I often need to draw upon older projects and it's media for current projects. I think this is the weakest part for FCP editors switching to Premiere.

    Ideally you should have five internal 'drives':
    OS/Programs
    Projects
    Cache/Scratch
    Media
    Exports
    You've got the OS and Media drives worked out, now get those other three in place.

  • How do I manage the "open in" menu?

    How do I manage the "open in" menu?
    I know it's limited to 10 apps.

    You really can't manage it. Thre is no feature or settings that allows you to manage it. As you use Open In on the iPad, the compatible apps for that file type will appear in the Open In menu. The more that you choose a certain app for the file type, the faster it will move up to the top of the list - IIRC.
    Other than that, there is no way to control it or remove or add apps in the Open In menu.

  • How to migrate MULTIPLE PSE10 catalogs to another PC

    I have bought a new PC.
    On my old PC I have PSE 10 with three catalogs.
    To move these catalogs (with several thousands of photos), I have followed the instructions in the help page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html
    So, I made backups of all three catalogs to an external disc.
    I then connected the external disc to the new PC and started to restore the first catalog.
    That went fine.
    Then I restored the second catalog.
    That also went fine.
    But then I discovered that the first catalog had disappeared....
    I expected that in the menu where you can switch catalog, both catalogs would be shown.
    But it only showed the last catalog that I restored.
    To make sure, I tried to restore the first catalog again.
    Again that went fine. But now only this catalog is there, and the other one is disappaered again.
    What am I doing wrong?
    How do you migrate MULTIPLE catalogs from one PC to another PC?
    I do not know whether it is relevant: The old PC is running Windows 7, the new PC is running Windows 8.1.
