How do I migrate a book I laid out in iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09?

If I upgrade my copy of iPhoto to 09 from my current iPhoto 08, will the book I laid out in iPhoto 08 just appear in its current form when iPhoto 09 opens? I don't want to lay out this entire book again and am afraid upgrading from 8 to 9 might force me to start over.
Also, the reason I'm upgrading is that I want a 10x13 book rather than an 8.5x11. I'm assuming that the layouts are the same, it's just a question of what size you order. Is that correct?

A book is just part of your library so you can not migrate a book - you just install the upgrade and it will convert the library - and anythime you update or upgrade be sure you have a good backup prior to starting
As to the layouts being the same - generally - but obviously with a larger page size some things will change - I would duplicate the book (selec it and depress the command key and press "d" to duplicate) prior to changing the size just in case you do not like the kew layout

I would ask Apple. There is no officially documented way of doing this.
I don't like your chances though because a paid book account requires a different setup process and signing of a different contract.

"The first step is to get Terminal.app to run. I was lucky that it was in my dock already. If not, you can probably ssh in from another Mac. You should be able to turn on remote login in System Preferences even without a Finder, I think.

Then click on the Finder in the dock and relaunch it. Or just reboot.
An alternate method would be to boot the Mac in target disk mode (hold down the "T" during boot) and plug it into another Mac via Firewire. Then just rename or remove the DivXNetworks folder.
Or boot from the 10.5 DVD and run Terminal.app from the menu. I guess that might be the easiest method since it doesn't require a second Mac, but you'll have to look in /Volumes for your boot volume name.

How can I move address book information between Address Book and Entourage?

(I have the same question regarding iCal and Entourage.) I have a lot of important information to enter, info that would be very difficult to relocate. I had some problems with iCal awhile back (it started randomly deleting events), so I am trying to figure out which program(s) to use. Since I don't have much experience with these, I would ideally like to be able to start in Entourage since that program seems better laid out for me, but be able to export the information to Address Book and iCal so I can make use of the Address Book widget feature, etc.

I have migrate my books this way:
- Copy this directory on the old mac from
/Users/<YourHome>/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBo ok/Books
to your new mac.
- Open iBooks
- File->Add to Library... and select all the Files in this Books Directory for importing.
All purchased books can be downloaded direct from iCloud with your account.
This is working well for me.
I'm not sure about the "Collections" information. Are this tag's inside the book files or not. But my Collections are well back with all the books on the new mac.
If something goes wrong, you can close iBooks, delete the
/Users/<YourHome>/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBo ok directory and start iBooks again. This will reset the structure inside iBooks and you can start from begin.

Get a external hard drive and connect it to the older Mac, refuse TimeMachine if it asks.
Open your Pictures folder and drag and drop the iPhoto Library onto the drive icon, when finished unmount (drag to trash) the drive and connect it to the other Mac.
Reverse the same proceedure, replacing the new iPhoto Library with the older one and then start iPhoto, it will update the old database.
If you ever want to get the originals out, right click and "show package contents" on the iPhoto Library, a folder called Originals holds your pictures, no iPhoto needed.

On a Mac with Mavericks (or Yosemite) installed on it you don't add them to iTunes, that is only used as a tool for syncing your books to the iBooks app on your iOS devices, iTunes isn't used for managing them.
For the books that are compatible with iBooks (you probably won't be able to copy the Mobi files into it) then you can add them to the iBooks app on your Mac either via the File > Add To Library menu option within the app, or by dragging and dropping them onto it.
If you connect your iPad to your Mac's iTunes they should then show on its Books tab for selecting and syncing to the iBooks app on the iPad
For the mobi book, you will need an app on your iPad that supports more books e.g. the Kindle app.
For Kindle, and possibly other mobi apps, you can add books to the app by selecting the iPad's Apps tab, scroll down the right-hand side of the screen to the file sharing section, select the app that you want to copy the book to, and add it to the app.
