On my iMac I uploaded a pdf to iCloud Drive | Preview. I want to view it on my iPad. Using the Documents app Preview is grayed out. What is the magic to get the pdf to appear?

You have to use an iCloud drive compatible app that can read PDFs, such as Documents 5 by Readdle.

And... If Apple was developing an app for the "Drive" why have us upgrade to something you have no way of using?
And... I did try opening files through apps that allow it but I do not see anything.
And... Pages docs do NOT show in the "Drive" on Safari.

You will see progress bars behind each file or folder that still is syncing, when you browse the iCloud drive folder. Other than that, there is no indication of the upload.

No, I don't think so. The pdf isn't capable of knowing which folder you would like it to open in – all it knows is that it is a pdf. It's up to you to put it in the appropariate folder.

Numbers can store pdfs pages or clippings but does not directly open pdf files. To get the bank statement into Numbers as a table I would open the bank statment in Preview (or Skim) or some pdf viewer.
Then hold the option key while selecting a column of data.
Then copy
Then switch to numbers and paste the column into a table
Then repeat for the other columns in the pdf document
It would be easier (in my opinion) to download the QFX or CSV version from your bank

Do you have Excel files, PDF files, or PDF files that have been converted to Excel? If you're working with PDF files, you'll need either Reader or Acrobat to open the files. If you have a converted Excel file, then you'll need Excel to open it.

I am able to open PDFs from the Internet normally using the Adobe Reader X plugin, but for some reason, it doesn't kick in when I open local PDF files.
I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and Adobe Reader X.

Do you have any graphics editing software like photoshop or something similar.?
Surely you can just open both images, resize the image you want to add, then copy and paste it into the main image. Save this as a new file and set it as the background.
If you need a graphics editing program you can download one called The Gimp for free. Just make sure you have X11 installed.

I have a number of PDF files in my iBooks library. I just downloaded Adobe Reader for the iPad. I can't see how I can open those PDF files. The only thing I seem to be able to do with them is to open them from iBooks directly. PDFs are designed to be a FInal file format. They are never intended to be edited in anyway.
Adobe don't support this function for many reasons.
InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or any other Adobe product is not a multi-purpose PDF editor and you shouldn't be opening a PDF in Illustrator or Photoshop unless that PDF was specifically made with those programs.
To open a PDF in InDesign you need specialist software as mentioned above.
The correct workflow is to edit the existing InDesign document.
If you don't have that original InDesign document, then you need to recreate it from the start.
If you don't want to do that - then you need to buy the software that Converts the PDF to InDesign.
