How do I open hyperlinks inside embedded pdf in a new window?

I have a pdf that contains hyperlinks to other website. This pdf itself is available as a link on a website. When this pdf is loaded in IE window, and user clicks on any of the links inside this PDF, the link opens in the same window. I want all the links to open in a new window.

I'm trying to accomplish this same thing and am having a hell of a time finding the right Class, right Methods, and/or right Properties for a solution.  Some classes seem to return obscure errors when I try to create them use the invoke node "launchURL" (the WMPLib.ICore for example).  If I use the Player base class (which MSDS says is the root class and the class that is used when you create an embedded player) I don't get anything.
What I would like is to progmatically launch Windows Media Player to play a particular video clip in full screen on the secondary monitor.  It seems like this should work:
But doesn't... any ideas for this?  The C# examples are difficult to understand for me.  Also, the WMP class library is a MESS! (IMHO).  Thanks for your input.

  • Opening A BI Publisher PDF In A New Window

    I have a process in Apex were the user clicks on a button to open a BI Publisher in a new window.
    The user clicks the button, the new window appears (blank), then the adobe file download window appears and they have to click open. Then the adobe file download disappears and the report appears in another new window.

    The users are complaining that there are too many clicks. Is there a way so that the adobe file download window does not appear and the report opens automatically.

  • Opening Document Library PDF in a New Window (Sharepoint 2013)

    Hello,
    I have numerous PDF's in a document library. When the PDF opens in the browser, the PDF's contain links to various other sites; however, when the user clicks the link on the PDF from the document library, the link opens in the same window as the PDF. I would
    like the link to open the PDF in a new browser window.
    I have searched Google but cannot find anything for SharePoint 2013. We are hosting our SharePoint on the Office 365 package.  I found one solution that is repeated on many forums, but I do not see the "Convert to XSLT data view" anywhere
    in SharePoint designer 2013. The solution states:
    "Edit the document library in SharePoint Designer.
    1. Open the site in SharePoint Designer and then open the document library allitems.aspx.
    2. Right-click the document library web part and select “Convert to XSLT data view”.
    3. Locate the name column, you will see this tag “<A onfocus="OnLink(this)" HREF="{@FileRef}"….. ”, add “target=”_blank”” in tag.
    4. After this, the documents will be opened in a new window."
    I do  see my allitems.aspx and can open that with a text editor. The contents of that file are:

  • How do I get IE to read pdf's with a Windows 7 OS and acrobat 7 on my system?

    How do I get IE to read pdf's with a Windows 7 OS and acrobat 7 on my system? It works with firefox. It worked previously but I think the automatic upgrade to reader 9.4 messed it up - so how do I fix it?

    Hi,
    It looks like the default association of your PDFs was set to Adobe Acrobat, when you installed Adobe Reader 9.4.0. I would request you to either uninstall Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and install it again. This time around, you will receive a window asking you to chose between Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Reader 9.4.0 as the default PDF viewing application, make sure you select Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and continue on. This will associate Adobe Reader 9.4.0 as the default PDF viewing application and your internet explorer will be able to open PDFs without an issue.
    If an uninstall seems out of the question, you can change the following registries to point to the path of AcroRd32.exe (i.e. the path wherein you have installed Adobe Reader 9.4.0. By default it would be something like: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe). The quotes mentioned below are intentional and must be included.
    i.   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
    ii.  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\shell\Open\command\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""%1"
    iii. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\shell\Read\command\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""%1"
    This should set the default application to view PDFs as Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and let you view PDFs in browser as well.
    Hope this works.

  • Open PDF's in new window in document library when using "Find a file" search

    I need to be able to open PDF's in a new window from a document library when using the "Find a file" search built into the document library "All documents" view. I currently have the following javascript on the page:
    _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("setTargetBlank()");
    function setTargetBlank()
    { $("a[href$='.pdf']").removeAttr('onclick').attr("target", "_blank");
    This works great when going to the document library and navigating through the folders then clicking on a link.
    The problem is when someone goes to the document library then uses the "Find a file" search and then they click on a link. The "Find a file" search does not do a postback (reload) of the page, therefore my javascript to find the PDF links
    and make them open in a new window does not run for the links on the page.
    I have read the following article but this does not seem to offer a solution that will work in this situation for SharePoint 2013 (Office 365): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/7ad3224c-3165-47ae-95bc-4f3928e2f9a8/opening-document-library-pdf-in-a-new-window-sharepoint-2013?forum=sharepointgeneral
    I suppose the idea solution would be to somehow tap into the event that is fired when using "Find a file" search to run my javascript and update the links for the search results.
    Can anyone offer any solutions to this issue?

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to open PDF files in a new window from a document library when using the "Find a file" search.
    As you said, the "Find a file" search does not do a postback (reload) of the page, therefore JavaScript to find the PDF links and make them open in a new window does not run for the links on the page.
    I recommend to use JS link to achieve the goal. Create a JavaScript override file and upload the JavaScript file to the Master Page Gallery, and then set the JS Link property of the document library web part to point to the JavaScript file.
    Here are some links about the JS link in SharePoint 2013 for you to take a look:

    In your af:tree nodeStamp facet you have access to the node (TreeItem in your case). If your TreeItem has a getter method for the url (you did not provide the TreeItem code) you can put an af:goLink in the nodeStamp and set the destination attribute to #{node.url} and set the TargetFrame of the golink to '_blank':
    <af:tree ...>
      <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
        <af:goLink text="goLink 1" id="gl3" destination="#{node.url}" targetFrame="_blank"/>Timo

  • Can you open a second jsp page as popup/new window?

    Hi all gurus!
    I have a question regarding popups/new windows in an iview application. Instead of starting with a question let me instead describe what I want to do.
    We have a jsp page that presents a search and then the search result in a table where one column is "clickable". When the user clicks a cell a server round trip retreives data specific for that cell value. This is standard functionality and already fixed so here is what differes: we want a new jsp window to open like a popup, with the data retreived from the server round trip and at the same time the first page with the table shall still be there so that you just can close the popup and click the next cell which creates a new server round trip and a new jsp popup and so on.
    My solution which doesn't work yet: In application "a" I have a JavaScript for the clicked cell which opens another iview application "b" in a new window, by window.open("navurl_to_the_iview"), and that works fine.
    At the same time the value of the clicked cell is written to the data bean and the bean is put in the http session (since component session does not reach between applications).
    The second iview "b" retreives the bean from the http session and fills the jsp page with data.
    Here is now the problem: no data is displayed and this because the iview "b" retreives the bean BEFORE iview "a" has been able to put the bean/value into the http session. How do I know this for sure? Simple, if I do a refresh of iview "b" the value is displayed.
    I could do a JavaScript that recursively checks if the value in the bean is null or not but then I have to do a method that retreives the bean from the http session each time.
    This could work but I wonder if this is the most simple solution. So my question for you gents and madams is: do you know of a more simple solution?
    Best regards
    Benny Lange
    Edited by: Benny Lange on Oct 6, 2009 11:33 AM

    Hi you all.
    In this case the solution was to pass the id in the url to the second iview and let that iview use the id to retreive data from the backend system.
    But I still think the question is interesting, if it's possible to open a second jsp window after a server round trip and still have the first one open.
    All the best
    Benny
