How do I read the selected value of a comboBox?

I need to send the selected value of a comboBox in an HTTPService request. How do I read the selected value (not label or item or index) from the comboBox?

> (not label or item or index)
I suspect 'item' is what you need actually. Specifically the 'selectedItem' property which returns the whole of the selected object from your dataprovider. From that you can then extract the selected object's properties.
e.g.  selectedValue = myComboBox.selectedItem.value;
The example in tour-de-flex shows this - note:  'data' in that example is i think what you call 'value'.

  • How to read the selected value of a dropdown list box

    Hello,
    I have 2 custom fields which are of type dropdown list on Accounts(CRMM_ACCOUNT) PCUI application details tab.I need to read the selected value of first dropdown list item,based on that second dropdown list will be populated.
    I know where to populate the dropdown list box,it is in FILL_DROPDOWN_LISTBOX.
    I dont know how to trap the selection made on dropdown list.
    PLease guide me on how to trap the dropdown list field selection value.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thirumala.

    Hello,
    Check what is done in standard for the fielf REGION which is inked to the country.
    Otherwise, you can do the following :
    - in field group customizing, for field 1, flag the 'send request' flag. So, when you change the value in this field via the dropdown, the MAC methods are immediately called.
    - Put the new value in a global variable (GV).
    - in the fill_dropdown_listbox method, get the value from this GV and based on it, filter the values for the dropdown of field 2.
    Hope this will help you,
    Regards,
    Frederic

  • How to directly get the selected value in the dropdown

    Hi Experts
        Now, in POV, i want to directly get the selected value in the dropdown. Because, the program doesn't enter the PAI before POV part. Therefore, the corresponding variable of dropdown doesn't store the selected value. That's reason why i want to find a way to directly get the selected value in the dropdown. is there any function module to do this?

    you can use INITIALIZATION event which triggers first before any other events..
    and u can use VRM_SET_VALUES to populate the values in the list
    DATA : v TYPE vrm_values.
    DATA : vw LIKE LINE OF v.
    INITIALIZATION.
      vw-key = '1'.
      vw-text = 'ABC'.
      APPEND vw TO v.
      vw-key = '2'.
      vw-text = 'DEF'.
      APPEND vw TO v.
      CALL FUNCTION 'VRM_SET_VALUES'
        EXPORTING
          id              = 'A'
          values          = v.
    PARAMETERS : a TYPE c VISIBLE LENGTH 10 AS LISTBOX.

  • How do you set the selected item of a combobox?

    I looked around and didn't find an intrinsic method or
    function to set the selected index of a combobox. I wrote a
    function, but I thought I would see what the "best" way of doing it
    is?
    The function I wrote is;
    private function
    setComboSelectedItem(cmbBoxIn:ComboBox,strFindItem:String):void
    for (var i:int=0;i<cmbBoxIn.dataProvider.length;i++)
    if (cmbBoxIn.dataProvider(I) == strFindItem)
    cmbBoxIn.selectedIndex = i;
    break;
    The parentheses surrounding "i" above should be square
    brackets, but they do not display.
    Paul

    doing a calllater will solve this problem if your changing
    dataprovider and trying to set the selected index on an editable
    combox

  • Cf10 how do I pass the selected value in cfselect to another .cfm page

    I am new with CF. I am using CF 10 on WIN XP. I am pulling a distinct list of data and want the user to select one to open a new page (detail.cfm) and pass that value to the next page to be used for other queries.
    can it be done?
    Here is my code for cfselect .
    What am I missing
    <cfform name = "Form" action="detail.cfm"
             <cfselect name="trip"
                        query="gettri"
                     value="district_name"
                     required="yes"
                     multiple="yes"
                    size="1">
        </cfselect>
    <br> <input type="Submit" value="Submit">
    </cfform>
    Thank you for your time
    Rob

    I missed it when I typed it in my original question
    The > bracket is in my code.
    I justed checked.
    It should read  ~ "detail.cfm">
    The list works when I excute the page.
    How do I pass the value after I have selected it on the page?
    Thank you

  • How do I get the selected value only out of a tree control?

    If I use the value property and create an indicator, it gives me another tree, not an array of selected values...I can use an event structure to get it with a CV Event using the new value terminal but I know that there must be a simpler, better way.  Can anyone answer this one quickly?

    Check out the "Family Tree.vi" example that ships with LV.

  • How do I change the selected text of a combobox on the fly?

    Hi all,
    I am trying to make a combobox, that is sort of a "recently used" connection box. So you can type in a computer name, hit connect and it then connects. When you disconnect, it adds the computer name, and the logged in username to the combobox,
    so when you click on the drop down, you get selections for example : "COMPUTER1 - johnsmith"
    Which is cool, but what I want, is to be able to click on the selection, and it only puts the computer name in the TextBox - i.e. "COMPUTER1"
    So I have done a bit of research, and tried making a hashtable, and using the DisplayMember and ValueMember properties, so i can at least have a combobox selection like "COMPUTER1 (johnsmith)". I have tried many different pages and suggestions,
    but the furtherest I have got is to only have one or the other value display, or it displays as System.Collection...... (can't remember the rest).
    So my next attempt, is using an event handler for the combobox to change the text, so that once "COMPUTER1 - johnsmith" is selected from the combobox, it puts "COMPUTER1" as the selected text.
    I have tried the following using the SelectedIndexChanged handler. Here is a snippet of my code relating to the ComboBox:
    # PC Connection Input Box$global:pcInputBox = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox
    $global:pcInputBox.Location = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(70,50)
    $global:pcInputBox.Size = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(210,20)
    $global:pcInputBox_SelectedIndexChanged = {
    if (($global:pcInputBox.Text -ne $null) -and ($global:pcInputBox.Text -ne "")){
    $selection = $global:pcInputBox.Text
    addLog("Selection is $selection")
    $global:trimSelection = $selection.substring(0,$selection.indexof("-"))
    addLog("TrimSelection is $global:trimSelection")
    $global:pcInputBox.SelectedItem = $global:trimSelection
    addLog("SelectedText is $global:pcInputBox.SelectedItem")
    $global:pcInputBox.add_GotFocus({
    $Form.AcceptButton = $pcButton
    $global:pcInputBox.add_SelectedIndexChanged($global:pcInputBox_SelectedIndexChanged)
    $Form.Controls.Add($global:pcInputBox)
    I have also tried setting the $global:pcInputBox.Text but the result is that nothing changes. Its as though I can't change that ComboBox from its own event?? If I try setting $global:pcInputBox.Text from another function, it will do it fine.
    Can anyone please recommend how I would get this achieved?
    Thanks in advance

    Use objects:
    $o=@()
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP1';User='USER01'}
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP2';User='USER02'}
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP3';User='USER03'}
    $combobox1.DataSource=[collections.arraylist]($o|select Computer,User, @{N='DisplayName';E={"$($_.Computer)-$($_.User)"}})
    $combobox1.DisplayMember='DisplayName'
    This can also be loaded from a CSV or from AD or almost anywhere else;
    Here is another trivial example:
    $o=@()
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP1';User='USER01'}
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP2';User='USER02'}
    $o+=New-Object PsObject -Property @{Computer='COMP3';User='USER03'}
    Add-Type -AssemblyName System.Windows.Forms
    $form=New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Form
    $form.StartPosition='CenterScreen'
    $combobox1 = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox
    $combobox1.Location='70,50'
    $combobox1.Size='210,20'
    $combobox1.DataSource=[collections.arraylist]($o|select Computer,User, @{N='DisplayName';E={"$($_.Computer)-$($_.User)"}})
    $combobox1.DisplayMember='DisplayName'
    $combobox1.add_SelectedIndexChanged({[System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox]::Show($combobox1.SelectedItem.Computer)})
    $form.Controls.Add($combobox1)
    $form.ShowDialog()
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • [WPF] Show ComboBox or DatePicker according to the selected value in a combobox

    Hi,
    in my DataGrid:
    1) in one column I have a ComboBox: item1, item2
    2) in another column I would show a:
    - a list if the user select item1 in the ComboBox
    - a datepicker if the user select item2 in the Combobox
    In XAML i have:
    <!-- COLUMN 1 -->
    <DataGridTemplateColumn Header="{StaticResource datagridScheduled}" SortMemberPath="Type.Description">
    <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate >
    <DataTemplate>
    <TextBlock Name="dgScheduleType" Text="{Binding Type.Description, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" />
    </DataTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>
    <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate>
    <DataTemplate>
    <ComboBox Name="dgCmbTypeOfSchedule"
    ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource DomainDataViewModel}, Path=SchedTypes}"
    SelectedItem="{Binding Type, Mode=TwoWay}"
    SelectedValue="{Binding Type.Description}"
    DisplayMemberPath="Description"
    SelectedValuePath="Description">
    </ComboBox>
    </DataTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn>
    <!-- COLUMN 2 -->
    <DataGridTemplateColumn Header="{StaticResource datagridDay}">
    <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>
    <DataTemplate>
    <TextBlock Text="{Binding Day, Mode=TwoWay}" />
    </DataTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>
    <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate>
    <DataTemplate>
    <ComboBox Name="dgCmbDay" DataContext="{Binding}" SelectedItem="{Binding Day}">
    <ComboBox.ItemsSource>
    <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource DateNumNameConverter}" >
    <MultiBinding.Bindings>
    <Binding ElementName="dgPlan" Path="CurrentItem"/>
    <Binding Source="{StaticResource AnalysisPlanViewModel}" Path="ListDayNameOfWeek"/>
    <Binding Source="{StaticResource AnalysisPlanViewModel}" Path="ListDayNumOfMonth"/>
    <Binding Path="Items"></Binding>
    </MultiBinding.Bindings>
    </MultiBinding>
    </ComboBox.ItemsSource>
    </ComboBox>
    </DataTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate>
    </DataGridTemplateColumn>
    In my Convert, I check the value select in dgCmbTypeOfSchedule and the convert returns one list or the other.
    But, If I would that the convert returns a datepicker, it's possibile?
    Thanks.

    Hello robertino_salemi,
    It is a depended on the meaning of your "datepicker" and I know some articles which can be shared to you. Please check the following blog first to see how to convert datapicker value:
    https://michaelmairegger.wordpress.com/2010/02/01/binding-null-value-of-datetime-to-datepicker/
    And also the following place:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4542291/datepicker-selecteddate-not-changing-when-text-is-input
    As you can see, we can use the following converter:
    public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture)
    string strValue = System.Convert.ToString(value);
    DateTime resultDateTime;
    if (DateTime.TryParse(strValue, out resultDateTime))
    return resultDateTime;
    return value;
    <Controls:DatePicker
    Text="{Binding OrderDate,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"
    SelectedDate="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self},Path=Text,
    Converter={StaticResource DateConverter}}">
    So if you want to convert datapicker date, I think it is OK. If you want to show or hide a datepicker, it is also OK. But what do you mean of "convert returns a datepicker", return a control?

    in the cell you are rendering a dropdwonlistbox, so to read the content of the same use
    data: data type ref to cl_htmlb_dropdownlistbox.
      data ?= cl_htmlb_manager=>get_data( request      = runtime->server->request
                                              name         = 'dropdownListBox'
                                              id           = 'DDLB1'
          if data is not initial.
            tab1sel = data->selection.
          endif.
    for id use the same id given in the interator-render_cell_start method for this

  • How to get the selected values from multiselected list

    Hi,
    I have a multiselect list displaying all the years from 2003 to 2008 (used dynamic LOV). The user can choose one or more years as per his needs, and then when user clicks on the link the selected values of the list are to be captured and a pop up page of a Discoveror report needs to be opened where these years get passed as a parameter. I tried several methods to capture the value, but either one or all are getting passed but not exactly what the user has chosen.
    This is how it looks:
    P2_FISCAL_YEAR is a multiselect list containing values from 2003,2004... 2008
    If user chooses 2004 and 2007
    then I want the url to capture these values and pass as parameters for my discoveror reports. as '&qp_fiscal_year=2004,2007'
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Sapna.

  • How can I just display the selected value of a listbox in a report without the reverse display and selection buttons?

    I am using a table which contains a text field with a lookup. I want to use the selected value of this field in a form which is acting as a selection form. No editing of the field's value is permitted. How do I just display the value of the field (which
    is considered a listbox on the form) without the reverse display and the up and down selection buttons.
    I can provide an illustration of the condition I am trying to overcome, but this system doesn't accept it.
    Thank you for any suggestions or clarification you can provide.
    Marj Weir

    Thank you.  I'll try that approach.
    I found, after much experimentation, on a similar problem involving a multiselect lookup field,  that if I make the field invisible, and add a  textbox that displays the fieldname plus .column(0), it displays all the selected entries.
    E.g.: staff.Column(0)
    Staff is the field containing the last names of selected staff members.
    staff.Value only shows the first name in the lookup list whether it is checked or not, so this is useless.
    staff.column(0), however, (inexplicably) shows all the selected names, e.g. Jones, Smith, Wiggins.

  • How to get the previoulsy selected value in a combobox

    How to get the previoulsy selected value in a combobox. i WANT the current and the previously selected value of the combobox.

    Just add to combobox ItemListener. When item is changing in itemStateChanged arrives 2 events. ItemEvent.DESELECTED and ItemEvent.SELECTED with corresponding item's values. Just write something like this:
            comboBox.addItemListener(new ItemListener() {
                Object prevValue;
                public void itemStateChanged(ItemEvent e) {
                    if (e.getStateChange() == ItemEvent.SELECTED) {
                        //do what you need with prevValue here
                    } else {
                        prevValue = e.getItem();
            });
