How do I record a voice memo on the iPad? I don't see it under any of the applications or settings.

I am trying to record a voice memo on my iPad but cannot find the application anywhere. The specs indicate that it should be able to record, but I need help finding it. Any suggestions? Thank you!

The specs indicate that it can record if you are using the video camera in the camera app. The iPad does not come with a voice recorder app.
You will need to search the app store for one that suits your need.

Does the mic work for other apps like Voice Control?
Does the mic work OK in other devices?
Have you tried it with another mic?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • With my iPhone 5s, can I record long voice memo to the cloud and not worry about storage on phone?

With my iPhone 5s, can I record a long voice memo to the cloud and not worry about storage space on phone?

You can't add music to the cloud, whether it will show there for streaming and redownloading depends upon what country that you are in. If you are in a country where music is available in the cloud then you don't have to download the music from the store, if you turn Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under the 'show all' heading) 'on' then you should be able to stream purchased music in the Music app without downloading it - your phone will need to be online in order to stream, and if using 3G/4G then it will use some of your data allowance.
If you download an album or a track then it will be downloaded onto your phone. You can't upload music to the cloud from an iOS device. Whether music that you've bought shows for streaming depends upon what country that you are in and if the album or track remains in the store (unless you've subscribed to iTunes Match), and if you are connected to a network.

I have a new iPhone 5S.  While trying to learn about it, I accidentally recorded a voice memo with no content.  I cannot now figure out how to get rid of it.  There is a banner across the top of my phone with this memo which I don't want.  I have deleted it from iTunes but cannot get it off the phone.  Help!

The banner usually indicates that the memo is "Paused." If you go back into voice memos, touch the word "Done" beside the big red pause button, give it a name, then it will show in a list. Touch the memo in the list then touch the trash can icon that should appear.

  • How long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s, how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s

how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s, how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s

Thanks Caramby.  I actually found another work-around
Here's how to copy the voice memo to your laptop (and then email it if you need to):
With iTunes open on the Voice Memo folder of your device (an iPhone 4s in my case), simply drag the required file from iTunes and onto the desktop of your pc/laptop.  It won't remove the file from your device but simply make a copy.   Then you can play the file from your pc/laptop (through Quicktime) as the file is in AAC format.  You can also attach the file to an email for sending.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • I got a new laptop (Macbook Pro) and my IPhone is synced with my previous laptop. I've recorded dozens of very long (un-emailable) Voice Memos over the last few weeks and need to get them from my IPhone onto my new laptop. How do I do this?

I got a new laptop (Macbook Pro) and my IPhone is synced with my previous laptop (which I no longer have). I've recorded dozens of very long (un-emailable) Voice Memos over the last few weeks and need to get them from my IPhone onto my new laptop.
    How do I do this?
(when I click on the Sync option I get the warning: "Are you sure you want to sync music? All existing songs and playlists on the iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library." I fear that if I click this I will lose all of my important Voice Memos as well)

Just to add to what ChrisJ4203 said.  You can sync them to your new computer using iTunes by selecting to Include Voice Memos on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  However, you still need to re-establish syncing with the new computer without iTunes erasing all the iTunes media from your phone (as the warning mentioned).
If you copy your entire iTunes folder (not just your music) from your old computer to your new one, along with other non-iTunes media you may be syncing with iTunes (such as contacts, calendars and any photos synced to your phone from your old computer) by using migration assistant of following one of these methods: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527, then when you sync again with your new computer it will recognize your phone and sync as it did before.  You will still have to authorize the new computer for any Apple IDs used to purchase from the iTunes and App stores (in iTunes>Store>Authorize this computer).
After that you can sync your voice memos to your computer as mentioned earlier.
If you want to archive your voice memos before you do anything with iTunes, you can use a 3rd party program such as PhoneView or Touch Copy.

    Hi Tincorreo,
If you made a backup of your iPhone prior to erasing the voice memo, you may be able to restore the backup. You may find the following articles helpful:

  • HT201706 how do I recover a voice memo that didnt finalize due to low battery shut down in the middle of the recording?

iOS 8.1.2 battery on ipod touch died in the middle of recording a voice memo.  Now I found the file but the file wont play and I cant email it.  I get a message that says its being optimized for sharing at this time.  That optimization never happens.  What's up Apple?

However, I doubt yo can do it because file was never closed. A data recovery company might be able to help. It is not Apple fault. You let the battery fully drain. Just like if you were copy a file to a thumb drive and the computer died before the transfer was complete

  • How can I get my voice memos off of my iPhone?

I have a new iPhone and took some pictures and recorded a few voice memos.  I would like to save these before I restore my iPhone to the back up I have on my computer.  I was able to import the photos into iPhoto, but I am not sure how to import the voice memos.  Normally, I would see them in iTunes under the Voice Memos playlist, but they are not there.  When I click on the iPhone in iTunes it gives me a choice of restoring from back up or setting up as a new iPhone.  I am worried that either of choices would get rid of the two voice memos I have on my iPhone.  Any advice?

    Hey mahongue!
I have some information here that may help you import your voice memos into iTunes. This information is written for the iPod, but the steps for saving your voice memos should be the same with your iPhone:
    Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.

  • How do i view voice memos on my iPad

I recorded a voice memo (guitar struming for rhthym study) on my iPhone, synced it to macbook, added it to a play list.  Play list syncs to iPad, but without the memo! How do I make the memo transfer over?

If you're referring to Siri, you don't, as it's not available for the iPad.

  • How do you get Voice Memos off the iPhone and onto my Mac???

Is this yet another iPhone dead end??
I used the Voice Memo app that comes with the iPhone to record some rehearsals and now I want to move them to my Mac, edit them, make CDs, share online.
I can't find any way to get them off the iPhone, unless I click the "Share" button, which means I can email them. But, it won't let me email the longer ones. I don't know how large the files are, but it just won't do it. I don't see any other facility for moving these files to my Mac. What is up with that???? iTunes provides no access to these files.
Is there some proprietary utility for the Mac that will allow me to access these files and move them to my Mac??? It would be nice if the iPhone would show up as a mounted volume which I could then browse for files, but that would make too much sense and be contrary to the control freak nature of Apple and it's iPhones/iPod Touches. I would call it another lousy user experience, but it's just a user non-experience, a complete dead end.
Is there any way to get these Voice Memo files off of the iPhone besides emailing them??

    Thank you for replying!
That kb article refers to the iPod Nano and not the iPhone nor the iPod Touch.
The Synchronizing section you pointed to does not work. I have a big bunch of voice memos on the iPhone. I tried the sync. Three of them were moved to the Mac, the rest were ignored. Four others were moved to iTunes Music/Music/Unknown with numbered names (i had given several of the voice memos names with the Custom label on the iPhone). For the synch I selected "Include voice memos."
After a sync, or several syncs, none of the other voice memos were moved to the Voice Memo playlist, nor are they in the iTunes Music library.
How do you get them to sync? I need to move them off of the iPhone and onto my Mac!

  • How can I get my voice memos back to the voice memo app on my iphone

Yeah, i just synced my iphone with my iTunes library and almost everything went smooth..  my pictures, apps, contacts, calendar, etc.  But I can not find the most important thing, the voice memos..  I had transferred them to my iTunes library the last time i synced, so i thought logically they should sync back into my voice memo app. Its important because they were lectures (im in college)!  And I planned to keep in order until the end of the semester until i had to restore it and back it up (because i went to get a new iphone)..
But now, i open the voice memo app, and its blank, there's not one memo..  And i don't know how to get them back in there..  I think i could put them in my Music library, but i dont want to do that.   I like to keep them in the voice memo app, so when i have exams i can just go back and listen to them in order (without them being all over the place.)
So all I'm asking is, is there a way to get my voice memos back to the voice memo app?  I have the latest version of iTunes (11.0.1.12) and an iPhone 4 with the latest iOs (6.0.1) and note i have a PC (Windows 7)..    I hate how iTunes totally changed their layout, it makes it harder.  That's why i couldn't follow older discussions on here, because the update made the layout so different..  Anyway, if you know what i should do, i would be very grateful.  Thanks.

  • How do I use a voice memo as a ring tone or an alert tone?

How do I use a voice memo as a ring tone or an alert tone?

Record your voice using iPhone (for ringtone only 35 secs or under are valid), sync iPhone with iTunes.
In iTunes the recorded voice is listed under Music as some_numbers.m4a.
Right click on the item and choose Create AAC version.
Drag the converted voice onto the desktop.
Delete the voice copy in iTunes. (important step)
On desktop, rename the some_number.m4a to something_more_intelligent.m4r
Drag it back to iTunes and you will find it under Tones.
Now select it (for sync) and connect your iPhone, do a sync.
If everything works out, it will be in Settings > Sounds > Ringtone.
Now choose a contact you want to assign this ringtone, tap Edit and add the ringtone.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I download a voice memo a second time?

I have a series of voice memos I recorded for work.  After I downloaded, we accidently erased them from the iTunes library.
Now we need to re-dowload them to iTunes.  However, because iTunes "remembers" that it has already downloaded the memos, it won't automatically download - and they are too big to send by email or message. How can I either manually download them to my computer (or anywhere!), or convince iTUnes to download them a second time?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks.  But again:
    1.  the memos have been erased from the libarary and are no longer availabe anywhere, excpet for my phone.
    2. when I sync my phone, it will download new voice memos, but the older ones (that have already been downlaoded, and erased) are not downloaded, because iTUnes knows that it has already downloaded them.
I neeed to figure out how to get iTunes to not recognize that it has already dowlowed copies of these files so that it will re-download them.

  • How do I send a voice memo through a text message (iOS 8.1.3)?

How do I send a voice memo through a text message (iOS 8.1.3)?

In messages next to where you would normally enter text you'll see a mic button. Press and hold the button to record your message. When done let go and a control circle will appear with a x to delete the recording, a play button to check your message, and upward arrow to send the message.
