How do I remove a cell border?

There is no *blank* border choice. No "No border" choice. Nor does tapping on the current choice, e.g., Top border, turn it OFF. Now, that would be sensible!
So, any ideas? How does one remove a border that one set?

It is mislabeled, though, don't you think?!
If I have a cell with a bottom border , "Set Default Border" implies that a bottom border will become the default border.
It should be "Remove All Borders"!
Of course, it means extra steps when you want to remove just the bottom border and not ALL borders. But, as you say, for now, I'll have to live with it!

I'm trying to embed a JTextArea inside a JScrollPane. Not sure if it matters, but the JScrollPane is inside a JSplitPane, i. e.
JSplitPane js = new JSplitPane(...)
JTextArea ta = new JTextArea();

The problem is seen ONLY when the neither scrollbar is visible, i. e. when the AS_NEEDED property is set on JScrollPane. When this happens, a black square border is visible around the JTextArea.
However, when the vertical or horizontal scrollbars are shown, the portion of the border where the scrollbar appears isn't visible (or noticeable).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't JComponent.setBorder() only set the OUTSIDE border of a JComponent? I want to eliminate the border being shown around the JTextArea (i. e. between the JTextArea's bounds and the JScrollPane).

How do I remove the cells from footer in Pages 5.5.2?

In the new Pages, version 5.5.2, my footers have cells. I want to have only one cell but can't find a way to remove the cell barriers.

In your Toolbar, select Document, and then turn off the footer only. Then, set View ▸ Show Layout. You will want to also Hide Word Count to get it out of your way.
Now, you can put something creative there that contains your text, or image content. For instance a Text box that is the same size as a footer, properly aligned using the yellow guidelines. Insert a right-justified Page number. Select the Text box, and then choose Arrange ▸ Section Masters ▸ Move Objects to Section Master. If from the Toolbar Documents Section tab, you choose to add another section after the current one, that Page number will auto-increment in the next section.

How do I remove the black border from around my videos?

I have PE7 on my Dell laptop with Windows 7. I've been editing videos on it probably since January. I just never thought anything of the black border, but recently it's really been bugging me. I tried Googling some answers, but all I found was to switch your camera to 16:9 Widescreen. My JVC Everio GZ-MG555U was already set to that setting. I'm just frustrated & I want to get rid of this border. If anyone knows the answer to this problem, please let me know. I need help!

Thanks for staying with the troubleshooting. I will stay with this as long as it takes to get the project to a successful conclusion. Let us work through this step by step.
1. The readout that you give for your JVC video file is consistent with what those .mod widescreen files have been reading out as, that is,
720 x 480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9091 (standard 4:3) rather than 720 x 480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.2121 (widescreen 16:9).
2. Premiere Elements 7. Start a new project with the project preset of NTSC DV Widescreen.
3. With Get Media/Files and Folders import your video clip into the project and drag it to the Timeline.
4. Go to Interpret Footage and, in the Interpret Footage dialog, dot the Conform to: and change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to
D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2).
5. Right click the Monitor, select Magnification, and make sure that that the setting is "Fit". Now look at the Edit Mode Monitor space. Is the area designated for the video display filled? No black borders? If so, continue. If not, you are going to scale the video to make the fill. It should not take much scaling for this if needed.
a. Select your video on the Timeline
b. Open Properties/Motion Panel to reveal Scale. Use the Scale slider to zoom in to fill the monitor space to the minimal degree to achieve that purpose, that is, getting rid of any unfilled space (black borders).
6.Then export that Timeline to a NTSC DV AVI widescreen file, saving it to the computer desktop.
Use Share/Computer/DV AVI with Presets: DV NTSC Widescreen
Check out how your NTSC DV AVI widescreen plays back on Windows Media Player. Nevertheless, continue on....
7. Go to the YouTube web site and upload your DV NTSC Widescreen there. And, let us know the results.

On your Mac open up message, then go to the prefs for the app.
in the accounts section click on iMessages and then you should see your email address and phone number listed. Uncheck your phone number.

How do I remove a black border from my 4:3 ratio movie, which only uses 4:3 ratio images?

I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 9. I have an audio file from a teleconference call and I am using images exported from a 4:3 PowerPoint presentation to create a video of the presentation. The image files are .tiff files, 960x720. This is the only type of file I am using to create this video.
I really need to get rid of the large black border which appears on ALL sides (left, right, as well as top and bottom) whenever I export. Exporting as flv, mpg or avi has no change. I also tried .png images, no change. Any ideas??

My guess is that the 1280 x 720 was the last Project Preset used, and was still there, when you chose New Project.
As for your output, will you be outputting an SD (Standard Def), or HD (High-Def) file for uploading?
Do you ONLY have the TIFF Still Images, or are you mixing in any Video?
The Frame Size difference, between the 960 x 720, and the 1280 x 720 will cause black borders. The two choices are to use the 1280 x 720 Project, and then use Motion>Scale to increase the Scale of your TIFF's. Note that the Aspect Ratio of those TIFF's does not match the 1280 x 720, so to get rid of ALL black borders, you will Scale up the TIFF, and effectively crop your TIFF's. If there is no margin on your TIFF's, that can be a problem.
As PrE only supports standard Video Frame Sizes, there will not be one that matches the 960 x 720.

How to reduce space between cell border and text ?

I want to make a very small print of my class timetable. But I can't reduce the table size after a certain size. The major portion is taken up due to space between the cell borders and the text in them. Is there anyway I can reduce that space so that I can make the font size a little more and still keep the table size small.

Assuming your are using Pages '09 (4.0.3) ..
First select all the cells which you wish to change.
Go to Inspector - Text Inspector, and reduce the Inset Margin

My new iMac with Yosemite displays photo icons with a white border. How can I remove this border?

How can I remove the white border/'frame' around the photo icons, which I store in folders other than iPhoto?
My computer is an iMac 27" (Late 2014 5K Retina display) with Yosemite 10.10.3.
The border does not exist on any photos /images created on my MacbookPro (Lion) or any earlier computers. It appears after importing to the iMac and only then after saving in either Preview or Photoshop Elements.

Thank you for the reply. I wanted to wait awhile in order to ensure that this corrected the issue. For a brief while, it did! However, it did not take long before the screen began once again hijacking my home button presses. This occurs even with Firefox removed from default applications ( triple-checked ).
This never happened before version 35.

Is your son using your Apple ID? If so he will need to sign in with a different Apple ID that isn't associated with your phone number. You can do this by settings>iTunes & App Store> click the apple ID at the top>sign out> then sign in with the new account.

How do I remove or delete a selected set of cells (ex. rectangle of C1 to E26).
In Excel, I can delete such a group of cells and all the data to the right of those cells shifts over.
Is this possible in Numbers or should I just go back to Excel?

It's not what I wrote.
Assuming that you want to remove cells C12 thru C14, I asked you to select cells C15 thru C9999999 then move the selected block to cell C12.
Old cell C15 will become cell C12
Old cell C16 will become cell C13
Old cell C17 will become cell C14
Your problem is different than the original one which was:
I want to delete a range of cells in a single column, say for instance 3 cells, and have the entire column shift up 3 cells.
and I'm not sure that the "Delete cells" function of Excel will do the trick.
I assumes (because you didn't give the complete info) that you want to remove cells C12 thru C14.
Select cells C15 thru C40, move the block to C12.
Old cell C15 will become cell C12
Old cell C16 will become cell C13
Old cell C17 will become cell C14
Old cell 40 will become cell C37
cells C38, C39, C40 will be empty.

The first two problems (box cycling from element to element on page, scroll bar returning to top) can be caused by a stuck (or defective) Tab key on the keyboard. Such damage can be caused by a liquid spill; just one tiny droplet is enough to short a wafer switch under one key.
The last issue (black box, white text - sounds sorta like a debugger window) I haven't seen, but could be caused by something similar.
To check for that, try using a different keyboard. If you're using a wireless keyboard, turn it off and see if the oddities stop.

I have been looking through the apis and search but to no sucess. I have tried a few different remove methods but none seem to be working. Does anyone know how to remove a cell renderer.

What do you mean "remove a cell renderer".
What component or class are you talking about? I'm only aware of renderers being used by Swing components. If thats the case then the question should be posted in the Swing forum.
What do you mean by remove? If you remove the renderer how would the cell be renderered. Do you mean that you want the cell to use the default cell renderer?
What component are you talking about? I'm aware of renderers for JTree, JTable, JList, JComboBox.
If I had to guess I would think you are talking about a JTable, so I would suggest simple setting the renderer to null for the particular column.
If that doesn't work then you can always use the getDefaultRenderer(...) method and then reset the column that way?
But you question is not very clear so Its a lot of guess work on my part.
