How do I save data in different spreadsheets inside an excel file?
I am already able to save data into an excel file, but how can I instead send the data separated into segments, where each segment is placed on a different spreadsheet on the excel file I specify.
In the ActiveX examples that ship with LV there is a good example of how to control Excel. Part of the process of opening a Excel file is to open the workbook (Excel document) and then open a specific worksheet (spreadsheet).
Try experimenting with that example and you should be able to figure out how to select different worksheets. If you still have trouble give another holler.

Then it's something you're doing. Please post your code. Have you tried a search on this forum for ActiveX and Excel? There have been tons of posts on it, including lots of examples. There's also the Excel thread. -
How can you save data to a spreadsheet and use different worksheets in the spreadsheet?
I am trying to save data to a spreadsheet.
Each set of test data needs to be saved under a different worksheet. Is this possible and how can I do it?As the example that Dennis pointed out, this can be done using activeX. In addition to that example I have another that demonstrates how to create a new workbook with multiple worksheets and save data to each of them. I hope that between the two you can get an idea of what to do.

How to filter the data in different sections (e.g. Report Footers)?
Hi,
I am using Crystal Reports 11 to generate cross-tables.
I plan to generate 3 cross-tabs, and each cross-table will be put in a section. For example, cross-tab1 in Report Footer a; cross-tab2 in Report Footer b; cross-tab3 in Report Footer c.
I know use "Select Expert" to filter data. But, it seems that "Select Expert" filters data for the whole report.
I want to filter the data for each cross-table separately. For example, filter cross-tab1 based on condition1; filter cross-tab2 based on condition2; filter cross-tab3 based on condition3.
How to filter the data in different sections (e.g. Report Footers)?

Now that you've inserted the subreport just right-click the sub-report and click Edit. The Design page for sub-report should open up.
You can now insert the cross-tab on the Report Header and insert a record selection formula of your choice.
Also, suppress all the other sections of the subreport so the Main report only shows the crosstab without any spaces.
Do the same for all the subreports.

Writing CAN data to a spreadsheet or word processing file.
Hi. I need to know how I can write CAN data to a spreadsheet or word processing file. I have a vi that reads information from a CAN device and I need to write everything that is read to a spreadsheet or word processing file. Also I'm getting an error message using a vi that uses the frame API to write and read frames. It happens when I change the read or write queue value. Right now they are set at 100 each and when I change them just a little(even by 1) there is an error. Thanks in advance.
I would recommend against writing DIRECTLY to Excel, while the CAN vi is running, the MSOffice interface is too slow to be doing while the CAN vi is running. There are 2 different ways you can get around this problem though.
1. When you receive a CAN frame you want to log, write it to a buffer of some kind in Labview (this could be a string buffer wired to a shift register, it simply adds the new data to the end of the buffer) then when your VI closes, it writes the string data to an excel worksheet.
2. You could log the data to a text file, if you use the Write File.vi (in the File I/O pallette) you can quickly write data to a file if it is done correctly. DO NOT use the VI's on the first row (Write to Spreadsheet.vi and Write Characters to File.vi) because they will be too slow, they open the file, write data, and then close the file each time they run, which takes too much time.
As for changing the buffers, you can do that, if you change the buffers at the time you call ncCANConfig, if you change the buffers after that you will get an error. -

Can any one help us regarding How to fecth the Date column(or month column) from the file name specified in the path in a generalized way .
For example :
file name is :subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv is specified in the below path
E:\Accounting\documents\subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv
here I need to fetch the "Sep13" as a Date column in the ODI 11g in the generalized way.
Can any one help us in this case as early as possible.I would suggest using a piece of Jython code for this. Something like this...

datestr = file[19:-4]
You'd need to work out what to do with datestr next... perhaps write it to a table or update an ODI variable with it.

thanksI had to restart firefox because of an update and I saved all my tabs and when I restarted firefox it has lost all of my saved bookmarks...won't be using the new tab groups again..very disappointed

If you use VI server method "Get Panel Image" and use "Write JPG file" ( or BPM) it works fine.
