How do I set up my e-mail so it doesn't delete it from my server when I delete it on my iPad

When on my iPad and I read my  e-mail and then delete it, it also deletes it on my AT&T server.  How do I set it up so that it leaves it on the server.
I read my e-mail from several different devices and do not want it deleted from the server.

Then AT&T email must be IMAP email and if it is, anything that you do on one device syncs across all devices with IMAP. If you delete the message on your iPad, that will delete it from the server, your computer, your iPhone or any smartphone that you have .... It deletes it from all devices. If you read an email on one device, it will appear as being read on all devices. If you move the email to a Saved folder on one device, that moves it to the Saved folder on all devices.
There is nothing that you can do about that. It is the way that IMAP email works.

when i connect my phone to the computer it used to auto retrieve my photos and videos, but some how it has changes, is there some setting that i change or somethig to auto upload my photos and videos from my phone to my computer?

There is Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password which you can set to '15 minutes' - the only other option for the setting is 'Immediately', you won't be able to have it as 2 or 3 minutes.

  • How do I set up a new mail account on my iMac?

    Hello everyone,
I think I used to have a Mail account however I could not remember the password when I tried to turn it on. I decided to delete the account completely and to start again. How do I set up a new mail account with a new email address and a new password??
I can see how you create a new mail account but it then asks for an email and password so that doesn't help. I really didn't think it would be a hassle!
    Thanks,
    W

You first need to set up a new User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider (ISP); that is, whoever provides you with Internet access, such as Comcast, AT&T, etc in the US.  Alternately you can go on the Internet and set up a new email Account with a new User Name and Password with a public company such as Google's "Gmail" or Microsoft's "Hotmail".  Once you have set up your new Account with them, THEN you enter that information into Apple's "Mail" for it to send and receive emails for your new outside Account.
    Hope this helps

What do you mean it does on your iPhone?
If you download a new email to your computer and read that mail and then download it to the iPhone it sees it as already read? Then maybe the iPhone is using the Hotmail IMAP system? Not sure.

If you haven't set up a mail account, it will probably ask you if you want to set one up, but here's how I do it.
Press command-, and that will take you to preferences.
Up near the top click the "Accounts" tab
Click the plus button that is located at the lower left corner.
Enter your name, email address, and password.
    Click enter then click continue
Set the account type to POP or IMAP. Whichever one you want is fine as long as it works with your email service.
Don't change the next security settings. Click continue.
Enter something for the description. Make sure that the "Use Athentication" checkbox is checked. Enter your password and click continue.
Click continue you might have to go through one of the security settings again. Click continue.
An account summary will come up. Click "Take account online". Then click create.
You have added your account to Mail.

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Account Information tab - from the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' drop-down menu select 'Edit SMTP Server List...', choose the server you want to edit from those listed, click on the Advanced tab. Does that give you the option you're after?

That would depend on what kind of email system your company uses and what they will allow to access. Your best source of information would be the IT department.

  • Mail 5.0 doesn't Download Email from Hotmail

    Hi,
Mail 5.0 Doesn't Download Email from Hotmail,
    The other days he could,
    What can i do?

In the preferences file, it already shows that my signature belongs to my mail account.  In fact, everything is precisely how I had it setup before Lion upgraded the mail program.  According to Mail - Preferences - Signatures, my signature should be automatically appended to my email, but the compose window doesn't allow me to select the signature.  It only shows that there are no signatures and gives me an option to open the preferences file.
My point is that the preferences are set up correctly.  Something else is broken here.

ok sorry everyone but i solved it myself but the solution is so nuts i've posted it here to help others who have the same problem.
to setup a comcast imap account on your iphone:
go to mail, contacts, etc in settings
    under accts, select add account
    select "other"
new screen, choose "add mail account"
now on the new acct screen you must enter your name, email address and password for your GMAIL acct ! (yes i said your gmail acct !, or some other acct with a NON comcast address).
    hit next
    then the acct verifies
when verified a screen will open with all the acct settings for this acct AND @ the top of the screen are the 2 buttons > imap or POP
select imap and THEN CHANGE ALL THE ACCOUNT information to the comcast account !
then hit next and the account will take a couple minutes to verify but it will verify and now you have a comcast imap acct set up on your iphone.  The problem must be that when the iphone sends the initial verify acct info to comcast (if you enter that information first) the comcast server is simply not setup yet to signal the iphone that there is an imap option.

  • How do I sync my email accts so I dont have to delete them on my iPad and laptop

How do I sync my email so I don't have to delete it on my iPad and Comcast acct on laptop

I don't believe that Comcast uses IMAP, unfortunately. The best solution might be to access your email through Comcast's specialized app: http://xfinity.comcast.net/learn/internet/mobile-iphone-itouch-ipad/
