How do I switch my iphone 3GS to my husband and get my email and password off of it?
Last year I bought an iPhone 4 and gave my 3GS to my husband. I attached my iphone 4 to our desktop computer. When I attached my husbands 3GS I renamed it as his. After that we just would snyc his 3GS to our laptop. He wants to now snyc it back to the desktop b/c he bought some music from that computer. Now when he tries to update an app or he tries to buy a new one it has my sign on and password. How can I change that from mine to his? If we go back to the laptop he will lose the music he just purchased.
I am sorry if I seem strange - in fact, this phone used to be my father's, who bought it about 2 years ago - I actually don't have all the details about this purchase, I can't remember right now because it didn't interest me at that time. Neither can I ask my father right now because it's quite late to try to wake him up. I am not in my home country right now, maybe this explains everything even better. Is it okay if I come with details tomorrow, after having spoken to my father ? I really hope this can get solved and the phone is not ruined.

You would have to contact AT&T. They are the only folks (as the original cellular carrier of the iPhone) that could possibly unlock it.

If your phone was previously hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's re-locked to the original carrier. The phone will now activate and operate only with that original carrier.

Is this possible?I'm assuming each device uses its own icloud account and you want them both to use the same account, but not lose data from the device you will do the switch on. If this is the case you need to copy the data from the "old" account to the other account ....
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc. Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there. These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE: Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account. It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch. -

So you could restore to 4.1. You will have to download the 4.1 IPSW from Apple, and then install it with iTunes, Option Click Mac or Shift Click Windoz, on the Restore Button and then select the 4.1 IPSW on your computer. The current iTunes may give meaningless Errors, I doubt because you are Upgrading. But if Error Message is given you will have to search the Web for ways to Exit Recovery.
