How do I syncronize a PDA with PC? (activesync/web service?)

Hi!
Short intro:
I’m currently working in a project with the goal to create a program where a user is collecting data in the field with a PDA. When the user has returned to his office, the stored data in the PDA is to be added to a central database when the PDA is docked.
Longer explanation:
The PDA is going to be used for inputing field data into our program. When the user then returns to his office, he want’s to dock his PDA, and with minimal effort, add the collected data to a big central database. The database and pc client software is allready existing and has been used for a while. The user is expected to have none to very little previous experience with computers. The data collected is security critical and hence no Bluetooth, IR, WiFi can be used to transfer the data to the database. The users requires that we use docking
The PDA has to be developed with J2ME (that’s why I’m here =)). No platform for the program has been decided yet, but it would be preferred that the program could be run on both PalmOS and PocketPC. If both OSs is to be used, I guess the PDA program has to comply to CLDC/MIDP 2.0, since this is the best PalmOS can do. But, it is no problem to develop just for PocketPC if there is an easy way of syncing data using CDC + additional profiles.
My/our background: We have developed software in Java, but have no experience with J2ME and programming for PDAs.
Question:
I need help with transfering the collected data from the PDA to our client software on the PC. As I understand it, the MIDP 2.0 profile (or CDC+profiles), does not implement any support for PalmOS’s/PocketPC’s hotsync/active sync. Is there a way to easily utilize these functions? Maybe with the help of additional Java APIs? I have done some research and as I understand it is complicated to transfer data this way.But more input on the subject is highly appreciated.
Another option I have just heard of is developing a secure web service and utilize the central network used for all the offices where the software is to be used. I have no experience with web services, anyone who can think of a flexible secure solution using web services?

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here

Handle Session data with JAX-WS web services

Is it posible to to handle session tracking with JAX-WS web services without implementing my own session logic.
If posible how do we put values in to session and get them back.
And also assuming that sessions are supported is it posible to share the same session between two web services on the same web application.

Issue with creation of web service

i use Jdeveloper 11.1.2.0.0 and i want to create a new Web service client and proxy to communicate with Bi publisher web services.
1) I Choose the client style JAX-WS Style
2) in the select Web services Description i set WSDL document URL to

HI Gurus,
I am following this article below which helpfully explains how to create a proxy. So far so good. I have been able to create a proxy. However, the article only describes how to build a proxy.

Any help or any other document that explains how to use a deployable proxy to consume a web service will be helpful.

I am trying to use ExtendedPropertyType and put in UpdaterItemType as in this code as below. Although it is not updating the Owner
field.
I have tried it both by Propertyname and PropertyID. Although new custom property's canbe
added but to change an existing one like 'Owner' ? Would this be the right method.
2. And Is ProprertyID a fixed value as 0x811f or does it need to be calculated.
3. Is 'Owner' the right propertname for assigning a task ?

How to add a new filter in an existing web service method (BIWS - WEBI document)

Hello Experts, we have 7 web service query's connected to a dashboard. Basically it is one WSDL URL and 7 Get Methods...Web service queries are BIWS (via WEBI document instance). There are filters setup for each of these web service methods.
Recently there was a request to add 2 new fields to the webi document and also the 2 fields need to be included as filters in the 7 methods. I know there is an option to edit the method, but when i edit the method, i cannot find the 2 new fields in list to set as filters.Can anybody help me understand how to add filters to an existiing web service method? I do not want to delete the method and republish the block as web service.
Any help will be great and points rewarded.

Hi Ann,
The reason you are not able to see any of the new columns as a option to select in your web service block is because when you have published that block, they were not present. Add these two new objects in your block and publish it again. You will be prompted for duplication content. Select the highlighted block for duplicate and now you can see the new added objects in the filter option. Update and this will overwrite your published block. Please note, web services do appear to behave weirdly when used with dashboards so I request you to please try it in a separate test report first.

Language setting issue with Xcelsius 2008 - Web Service NW BI

French language is set during Xcelsius installation.
In Xcelsius, English is always set as the preference language.
With Web Service NW BI, I get text data returned in French.
English is also defined as default language in SAP BW BI .
I would like to get text data in English.
I don't get this situation when executing the same dashboard in an another PC with only english installation.
Can someone could explain to me how to solve this issue ?

Hi Sana,
You might be using Flex 3 sdk library files.
Just check in Properies of your Flex project -> Flex Build Path -> Library Path .
You might get the library files as Flex 3.*
If it is the case then change it to Flex 2.0.1 Hotfix 3.
now create a new project and compile your application and use the same swf.
Otherwise try to import any existing Flex 2 project folder with compiler flex 2 ver. then try the same swf in your xcelsius application.

Issue with making multiple web service calls without ccBPM

I have an issue -
Sync call from ECC -> check global param if EMPTY
                                -> if NOT EMPTY call Web service 1
                                     -> parse the return value
                                     -> call Web Service 3 ( pass the value from global param in the SOAP header to WS3)
                                     -> pass the return value back to ECC
                               -> if EMPTY call Web Service 2
                                    -> parse the return value
                                    -> call Web Service 3 ( pass the value from WS2 in the SOAP header to WS3)
                                    -> pass the return value back to ECC
Is it possible to design this scenario without using ccBPM? To start with, I can always read the global parameter but cannot find a way to read the response from WS1 or WS2 and pass it to WS3 without a ccBPM. Even if I use a ccBPM I still have the issue of passing the value (either global param or WS2 return val) in the SOAP Header to WS3.
If I open a S/A bridge, all the subsequent WS calls are converted to async calls. Not sure how that will work out.
For the last step, looks like I might have to manually build the data types without using the WSDL (XML SOAP envelope rather than a WSDL) to generate the Service Interface to prevent the Adapter from building the envelope. Is there any other way that I havent investigated?

I have created a new Web service in SAP , and while creating Service defination , set the Authentication as LOW for server proxy .Then created End-point in SOAMANAGER with USREID/PWS requried .This WSDL i am planning to share with Third party to call from Java application.
But my web service checks for authorization which needs to be set up to allow the user id and pws .
So question is how do i pass my user id and pws as i do not see this WSDL with User id and pws option displayed for me when i test this using SOAP UI .I saw some of WSDL with tag "AuthHeader" with user id and pws tags in them .So how could i get them ?
Or requirement is that my Third party should be able to access my Web service in PRD and also be able to have authorization to auth object embedded in FM inside service defination .So how is this acheived ?

Hi,
After creation of WSDL , you will get URL lkie http://idessapdev.ad.infosys.com:8000/index.html.
For this URL your third party system need sto add id and pwd for accessing like http://idessapdev.ad.infosys.com:8000/index.html&userid = 111&pwd= wwgw.
this is not the exact syntax. you can check with your third party system for this URL.

Xi sender mail adapter with attachment (to Web Service w/ attachment)

Hello,
We're working on an XI scenario wherein a sender mail adapter polls an exchange server inbox for mail (with attachment)and sends the attachment to a Web Service via SOAP Adapter? Does anyone know if this is doable, and if so, how?

I think so, if you just have a single attachment to be transferred.
Use the Mail Sender Adapter and specify the MailServer URL etc...
In the Module provessor of the Mail-Adapter you have to specify the PayloadSwapBean ( -> this changes the payload - the attachment becomes the payload)
then you configure the standard XI-scenario with
SenderAgreement
Mapping if necessary
Receiver Agreement
Receiver adapter
