How do I tell my client version?

Due to the nature of our setup, client workstations do not get the Universal Installer installed with the client software (the admins do not want us to be able to install new software on our own).
Without the UI, how can I tell which version of the client I have? Is there a DLL somewhere with an accurate version number?

Is it not possible to ask the admins what version of the client is installed?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
If we only had one version of the client running around, no doubt. :) I'm pretty certain I have the 8.1.6 client, due to how the directories are named, but I wanted to verify.
Thanks for the help.

  • How do I tell my clients to configure the connectionstrings for a cloud service?

I have an application that exists in two forms
    A Windows Service
A Clouse Service with a Web Worker Role
    Both applications have an encrypted connection string in the app.config;
for clients using the Windows Service I know how to tell them to change the config file.
For a cloud service is it possible to edit the configuration file?
I read something about Azure Settings, but I can't find any good information about that, is that the preferred method for setting environment settings in a Cloud Service?
Can you remote in to a VM or whatever hosts the Cloud Service?
Thank you for any help. I am writing the documentation about how to setup the Azure environment and I realized I don't know myself, I only know how to publish with Visual Studio to a cloud service with the values already set. That works, but I can't
tell a client to use Visual Studio.

    Hi,
For a cloud service, though it is possible to access instance VMs and do changes on their file system by RDP sessions, but it is not recommended, as you will end up loosing your changes if role instance VMs are restarted.
If you really want to keep certain settings configurable and which will be shared by all your role instances, best way to do is to utilise the cloud service configurations, typically you mention these settings in .cscfg file and you can also edit those using
    azure management portal.
You can also access those from your code
    string settingValue = CloudConfigurationManager.GetSetting("SettingString");
Read more about it here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/ee405486.aspx

  • How can we tell the client that use process order or production order (proc

    Dear guru,
My question on what reason we can tell the client that u have to use process order or production order .
On what scenario we suggest client that use process order or production order

    Hi,
Process manufacturing is primarily designed for the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries as well as the batch-oriented electronics industry
Discrete manufacturing is u201Cthe production of distinct items such as automobiles, appliances, or computers,u201D whereas process manufacturing covers u201Cproduction that adds value by mixing, separating, forming, and/or performing chemical reactions. It may be done in either batch or continuous mode.u201D
Letu2019s think about what your company manufactures. Does it require mixing chemicals? If so, you may need an ERP system that does things like calculate ingredient quantities.
If your company assembles products from many component parts, youu2019ll require discrete manufacturing functionality
    Other approach:
If the finish good cannot return back to its basic components, your manufacturing is Process. For instance, the finish good is a can of soda. It cannot return back to its basic components such as carbonated water, potassium benzoate, aspartame, citric acid, and other ingredients. But if the finish good is car or computer, your manufacturing process is Discrete because it can be disassembled and the parts, to a large extent, can be returned to stock. Therefore Bill of Material (BOM) of discrete manufacturing consists of component parts for assembly while Process manufacturing consist of formulas, recipes and other ingredients
Process manufacturing is scalable. If a formula calls for 1,000 pounds of cake flour, but you only have 500 pounds, you can still bake cakesu2014just not as many. Conversely, in discrete manufacturing, one missing part means waiting for it before the finished assembly unit can start rolling off the production line
The obligatory requisite for process manufacturing is Lot Potency and Shelf Life where as discrete manufacturing values Serial Numbers, ECNu2019s and assembles.
If it is discrete manufacturing ---go for Production order
If it is process manufacturing ---go for process order
    thanks and regards

  • How to run different Oracle client versions on the same PC

I have developped an application (.Net 2.0, ODP v. 10). I must run it on PC where Oracle client version 8 is installed. The PC cannot be upgraded because of a client software running under this version.
I tried to install ODP v. 10 on this PC in different home, but the software using version 8 stops running.
Can Oracle Instant Client help ? But which version, 11 ? My application is based on ODP 10. Can ODP 10 access database via Instant Client 11 ?
    Thanks for your help

The problem on Windows is: The 10g installation changed the default ORACLE_HOME,now it points to 10g and makes the 8.0.5 application invalid, because it runs now in a much higher environment. What I did in a similar situation, I created a batch file, which sets temporarily the old environment (in my case PATH,ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME) and then invokes the application.
I don't know whether such a solution will work for you (8.0.5 is very old, desupported since a long time), my old version was 8.1.7.4.

  • How can I tell what USB version I've got?

Hi All, I've got a G4 iBook using OS X 10.4.7 I bought back in late 2003 I can't remember if it has USB 1 or 2.0. Does anyone know how I can determine what version USB i've got?
Also, if it turns out that I've got USB 1.0, is there anyway I can update to 2.0 eg is it a matter of updating software?

All G4 iBooks have USB 2.
Go to the Apple menu and select About This Mac and then click on More Info to launch Apple System Profiler. Click on USB on the left and you'll see USB High Speed Bus on the right. Click on it and it will show the speed of the bus to be 480 Mb/sec. USB 1 is 12 Mb/sec.

  • How do I tell if my version of LR is 64 bit?

Just got my LR3 book yesterday and the guy recommends downloading LR with 64bit mode enabled on the computer (which is another question - how do I know if my computer is 64 bit enabled). I am operating on Windows Vista, which apparently needs a 64 bit version of LR. I ordered through the academic store, so am not sure what copy I ended up with. My husband downloaded LR for me, so I have no idea what settings were used. Anybody know how to find out? Or better yet, if it's even a good idea to do so??

Whoa! I just went and checked, and my Application Architecture says "x86". What the heck does that mean??
Thanks for the tip, by the way

  • How can I determine what software version I have in my Apple TV module?

My Apple TV usually hangs up when I am watching a movie on Netflix whether its one foot from my internet hub or in the next room. When I stream using an HDMI cable connected directly to my computer (which is hardwired to the hub) there is no problem. Could it be an outdated software version in the Apple TV module? How does one tell what software version he has and then how do I update it if required?
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Changed IP address, how do I update the clients

I've poked around but all I can find is info about how to change the IP address of a TC without additional information about what to do with existing clients.
I'm not using a TC in this case (NAS frontended by a Mini providing AFP accesss), but I figured this would be the best place to ask.
I set up TimeMachine on most of our Macs (all 10.7 and 10.8) a few weeks ago, but just had to reconfigure my network which neccesitated changing the IP address of the host that provides the TM remote disks.
How do I tell the clients to start using the new address of the server? Will just adding a new disk do the right thing (I haven't tried as I don't want it to clobber what already exists).
    Thanks.

Yes, you have to change the setup in each computer to redirect it to the new location of the backup disk..
You can do a TM reset.. but that should not actually be necessary.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
But TM is smart enough that when it finds the disk.. it will then find its previous backups and continue the backup .. after suitable verification. You can change the computer name. Change the disk name. Change the backup sparsebundle name.. TM will still find it and continue to use it. And even if there are multiple sparsebundles or disks with the same name or even computers with the same name.. which would break network rules,, but TM still won't get confused.
Again read up a bit of how TM works its magic.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Works.html
The UUID is picked up from source hard disk I guess.. and that is what is used. This ensures everything is kept separate from names or even IP address.

  • RH Client Version & Other Applications

How do you have your client version of RH set up if you also use
    several other applications?
I am preparing to switch over to a different infrastructure
because another company bought my company and have to explain the
cost/reason whether we should look into one supa dupa computer or
keep the separate computer setup I have now since it works so well
    that way.
Not Broken Don't Fix It Theory.
My RH and I have been together going on 4 years now . . .
Year 1 everything was on one desktop and I used Source
    Control (cough/cough).
Year #2 RH Client Version got it's own home (separate
computer) and RH Source Control got disconnected.
Year 3 almost 4 we have been very happy together!
My set up is: 1 Monitor
+ Computer 1 just for RH
+ Computer 2 everything else (Lotus Notes, Outlook,
Captivate, SnagIT, Microsoft, Photoshop, 2-3 company-specific
    applications, etc)
Thanks in advance for your time!
    Cindi

    Hello Cindi -
Getting a workstation set up "just right" is not an easy task
and changing for the sake of change is not a good idea. And we all
have heard or experienced the nightmare of RH/version control over
a network - avoid it if you can.
As to what I do - I have three workstations:
    > Office Workstation with normal corporate image of Office
2000 or Office 2003 (including Outhouse, err, Outlook), MS Project,
Rational Suite and a ZIP program.
I have added to it : RH5, Photoshop, the GIMP, Open Office,
several utilites for screen capture, PDF (Adobe Acrobat 4 and
    non-Adobe), search/replace utility, html/xml editing, FTP transfer,
    numerous browsers/versions, etc.
    > Home Office has most of the Office Workstation software
plus a LOT more for personal use.
    > Test Bed is bare-bones for testing beta releases, has no
Internet access and only what the beta software under test requires
    as a minimum.
The Office Workstation and the Home Office workstation get
backed up on a fairly regular bases. Note to your Sys Admin: when
creating a backup image of a RoboHelp workstation you MUST set the
software switch to back up the master boot record as Adobe writes
your registration there (most imaging software does NOT back up the
MBR by default - requires setting a switch). Don't let your Admin
insist that Microsoft doesn't allow that as it constitutes a "root
kit" - my Admin didn't believe me until it was too late.
Always back up the workstation BEFORE adding, up grading or
patching software - especially before installing Microsoft patches
(be wary of "patch Tuesday" - the second Tuesday of every month,
    just before "reboot Wednesday").
Never install beta software on a production workstation.
The Test Bed gets wiped frequently and is never used for
    company/customer projects.
Both the Home Office and Test Bed dual boot between Linux and
Windows. Only the Linux systems are allowed Internet access with
the exception of Test Bed - Windows access is allowed only to
register the beta software (Adobe doesn't have over the phone
registration for beta testing) - after that it gets unplugged.

  • How do I check the oracle client version?

    Hi All,
How do I check the oracle client version installed from the OS level. I do know my database version I need to check which client is being used. Is there a table where this information is stored.
    Thanks
    Shabna

disp+work.exe -V will tell you which OCI version was used during compiling and linking.
Oracle uses release independent DLL Names (Unix people would say Shared Libraries) and therefore the SAP Kernel will dynamically load any Oracle Client Version found in the standard DLL Load Path during startup.
If you have more versions installed on your computer and you are not shure which one is loaded you can use Process Explorer (freeware, see www.sysinternals.com) to find out which one is loaded. If they belong to an Oracle_home (up to release 9.2) refere to Oracle Universal Installers Inventory information in order to find out which exact version is used.
If an Oracle10 Instant Client is used, there is no corresponding Oracle_Home. In this case you can use Windows Explorer (right click on the  DLL -for example oci.dll), select properties, the Version Tab and File Version).
But unfortunately Oracle is not updating the File Version every time they are patching something.
An SAP ABAP Server Integrated Resource is the version information disp+work.exe -V is listing (evquivalent to SM51 - Release Information).
    <b>Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)</b>
OCI_10201_SHARE is telling us the compile/link environment, the number in brackets (only available starting with Oracle10) tells us the the result of an Oracle Client GetVersion call. Unfortunately this one does also not reflect the installed Minipatch version up to now.
Here are some results on 10.2.0.2 Windows X86_64:
    SM51: Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)
Explorer (OCI.DLL located in the same directory as disp+work.exe):
       10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
Explorer (oraociicus10.dll - the instant client implementation, this version is the one actual since mini patch 10.2.0.2.5 and it was definitely changed in 10.2.0.2.5):
       OraOCIICUS10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0
       oracore10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oranls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       orasnls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oraunls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oravsn10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oracommon10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
       orageneric10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
       oraclient10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
       orapls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
       orasql10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oraxml10.dll - 10.1.0.2.0
       orahasgen10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oraocrutl10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oraocr10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oraocrb10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       oranbeq10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
       orantcp10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oracommon10.dll from the rdbms server does report 10.2.0.2.0 Patch5 at the same time. compare it with the version information of oracommon10.dll included in oraociicus10.dll. Both patches are included in the same patchset (10.2.0.2.5).
there are two possible conclusions about this:
    1. the version infomation is not very reliable.
    2. the Oracle Patch and Build environment is not very reliable

  • How do I tell what version (update / release level) of version 6 has been applied to my system?

    Question
How do I tell what version (update / release level) of version 6 has been applied to my system? I have applied several different release levels to version 6 of FF but all the about feature tells me is Version 6.0. no version! This seems to be a change in the way updates are handled. Is that a bending because of the speed of which you're pushing out updates and new releases?

    @cchur <br />
Nope, I never used Chrome, but I did try Chromium on my Windows desktop PC for a few months last year. I got tired of the Google updater. exe running all the time and Google's method of doing updates, so it's gone. I do have Chromium on my Linux EeePC since last summer, but Ubuntu handles all updates and gives the user the capability to accept or deny, any or all updates - much more to my liking, similar to the way Mozilla does it. I don't like software developers forcing to update until I am ready to proceed.
There's a lot more about this new Fast Release system, than just the lack of visible version numbers, that I don't like. The Nightly, Aurora, Beta, & Release sequence is dumb with the way it changes the version numbers. I prefer installing (for instance) what will become version 7 and have that installation progress thru the 4 stages, instead. Now it's like Nightly going from 7 to 8, Aurora going from 6 to 7, and Beta doing - hell, I won't know if it becomes a Release or if it just dies and I will have to install the Release version myself. ''Quite honestly I don't care, because I don't think this new "system" is going to last too long without major modifications. Too damn many users are so pissed off, that when Firefox starts losing large numbers of users, Chrome keeps growing and eventually passes Firefox in number of users and market share of usage - Mozilla will wake up and see the "light" and change back to the way things used to be done, to a certain extent.''
I also dislike the UI changes in 4/5/6/7 enough that I am still using Firefox 3.6 for almost everything and Firefox 2.0.0.20 for the rest. I have been setting my toolbars up almost like Mozilla did for Firefox 4, since Firefox '''0.7''' in 2003 and I haven't come up with a workable combination of mods and extensions to configure Firefox to look and work the way I have been doing for almost 8 years now.

  • How do I tell the installed Boot Camp version (Windows 7, 32-bit)?

I installed Windows 7 (32-bit) in a new Boot Camp partition. I see that there are several Boot Camp version updates for 32-bit Win 7 (3.2 from 3.1, etc.). Previously I had Windows XP, and in the system tray at lower right of the screen there was an icon for information about Boot Camp. My Win 7 installation has no such icon. How do I tell which Boot Camp version I am running?
Likewise, Win XP had an Apple utility for setting the startup disk. The only Apple utility I find in Win 7 is Apple Software Update (which shows no updates needed).
    What am I missing?

Answered my own question! When I installed Win 7, I failed to install the Boot Camp drivers on the OS X install disk. Did so, and now the Boot Camp icon shows up.

Hi Guys and girls, hopefully an easy question for you.
I installed Adobe flash and lightsource last night, cos I needed it to run Weebly website maker.
Anyone know if Weebly runs correctly on 10.9.1??
I have a new comp, so no previous version of flash on here, I am running OSX 10.9.1
I just want to know How I can tell if Adobe Flash is installed properly and is the upto date version?
Where do I go in the comp to find out,
If I type in Adobe flash into search it only brings up flash manager, when I click this it is an uninstaller program.
    Lightsource shows in finder apps.
If I type in flash player it shows up in plugins with a version number see screen shot.
Where would I go to check for updates for things like flash on my comp?
