I am trying to transfer a few protected purchased songs from my windows 8 pc to my sg3. I can't open the protected songs on my phone with any of the many media players I have tried. I have read that I can buy software to convert the files, but it doesn't make sense for me to have to buy software to play songs that I already paid for. I bought the songs directly through iTunes, so there should be no need for a third party to allow me to listen to those songs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The first step is to export your TB contacts to a vCard file. Next, email the vCard file as an attachment to your account, open the attachment on the iPhone and follow the prompts to add the contacts to the phone.

Connect the phone to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if the left-hand sidebar isn't showing then control-S should get it to show) and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select the music that you want in the phone's Music app and and sync/apply that selection.

2) Open iTunes on your MacBook Pro (congrats!)

Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive. This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files.

iCloud does not store messages for you to see/access at icloud.com. It does back up messages so you can restore your iPhone if it ever needs to be reset to factory default. A backup is an image of all your data on the iPhone, and if you delete some messages, then they won't be part of any further backups.
If two people use the same iCloud account, then their devices are kept in sync, just like a single user's multiple devices are kept in sync. It's usually a good idea to have separate accounts for two people, since it's rarely the case that they want each phone to be an exact replica of the other.
Your iphone syncs contacts, events, camera roll, and many other things without the use of a computer.

Just copy the entire Music folder from the old Mac to the new Mac, then click on the folder and Get Info and change the permisisons and click the spoke to "apply to enclosed items"
Ideally it's best to use the same user name on the new machine, this way all your iTunes playlists work and there is no need to change permissions.
You can create the same named user by creating another account in System Preferences >accounts
If the old computer is a PC then just copy the old Music folder to the Mac onto the desktop, then use iTunes to import the music files.
If the old comptuer is dead, then you can extract the hard drive(if it's still working) and use a IDE/SATA to USB adapter cable to access the internal drive.
Mac's should be able to read NTFS format of PC's, just not write to it. But if it's not working there is software to install to allow the Mac to read that NTFS drive format, just search online.
