  • How do I check the memory on my macbook air

The flash storage on my Macbook Air (Memory 4GB) says that that I only have 10.89 GB free of 250.14.
It gives me a breakdown ie. Audio, Movies, Photos, Apps, Other.
Other is taking up 136.19 of it.
    What could that be?

No.  OS X uses less than 10 GB of space plus it needs 8 GB free for working space.  Most the “Other” storage is your personal files.  Maintaining at least 20 GB of free space on an SSD is prudent.
Other includes everything that is not audio, movies, photos, apps and backups.  In other words it includes the OS, mail, documents...  See What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It? and Apple Support Communities https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5142

  • How do i install more memory in my macbook air? it only has 4GB

How can i install more memory in my macbook air? it has 4GB only and it keeps telling me my start up disk is full.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In the case of the MacBook Pro with Retina display and the MacBook Air, memory is soldered into the logic board, so you can't add more memory after buying the MacBook.
However, memory isn't your problem. One thing is the memory and another thing is the hard drive, and you are running out of space in the hard drive, not in memory.
To fix this, just delete files that you don't need, or move them to an external drive, in order to make free space on your MacBook

  • The memory on my MacBook Air is almost full...

The memory on my MacBook Air is almost full.  I see that much of that space is taken up with a category called "other"...  What is it, do I need it, and if not, how can I get rid of it??

"Other" is composed of everything not neatly fitting into the balance of the listed categories. While it may certainly have files you don't want anymore, the majority is composed of files that are crucial, such as the operating system and libraries. Don't worry that it is the largest category, it usually is.
You can use a file visualizer app such as Daisy Disk or Grand Perspective to view all your files, identify those you don't want/need, and subsequently erase.

  • I would like to know how do I install the brazilian keyboard into macbook air, keyboard with accents (Portuguese Language), I tried so many times how to put into it (Macbook Air). So, thanks for now! I'm waiting for it.

I would like to know how do I install the brazilian keyboard into macbook air, keyboard with accents (Portuguese Language), I tried so many times how to put into it (Macbook Air). So, thanks for now! I'm waiting for it.

After you go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources as suggested by sberman, click on the + button and scroll down to Portuguese and select that.  Over at the right you will see the choices Brazilian, Brazilian abnt, Portuguese.  You might want to add all three to see which you like best.
The "Brazilian" layout is pretty useless.  It is identical to the US layout and the only way to make accents is via the option key shortcuts:  option + n, then o gives you õ.
The Brazilian abnt and Portuguese layouts have dead keys for adding accents over at the right edge of the keyboard.  But these may not match what is printed on your keys.
You may prefer to stay with the US layout.  On that you can get accented letters by just holding down the base letter and selecting what you want from the popup menu that appears.  Or you can use the option key shortcuts.
Another option is the layout called US International PC, which has accent deadkeys on ~, ', etc.
Which ever layout you want to use, you must select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen.
To see which key does what for any layout, use the Keyboard Viewer:

  • How do I mute the microphone on a MacBook Air?

How do I mute the Microphone on a MacBook Air?
I am using a converting program and a USB turntable to convert my vinyl record to CD for my personal use.  During the recording session, environmental noise/room noise gets recorded at the same time via the built in microphone.  Is there anyway to mute this microphone or disable it?  I could do that on my old Toshiba with its Window program.

Turn the input volumn down all the way for the Mic. You do that in the Sound Applet In System Preferences.

  • How can I zero out the memory on my macbook air?

I have an 11 inch mid 2011 macbook air and cannot figure out how to erase the memory so that none of the data is recoverable. I booted from the recovery HD but when I went to the erase section of the menu, the security options button and the zero out empty space option were both greyed out. How can I clean off my Mac?

You can't, and don't need to, zero an SSD in Disk Utility. Once you've erased it the data is unrecoverable.

More relevant to the question is that there are no expansion slots either.
Once you have purchased a MacBook Air with the memory configurationit was built with, it has all the memory it will ever have,
Lesson: Buy with the max memory available. Currently 4 GB.

  • Can you upgrade the hardware in a MacBook Air 2012

Hi, my name is Mark Bourke. I was given a present of a MacBook air 13" maxed out (everything upgraded to the max). It was bought for me because I liked the look of it and I had been keeping an eye on it for a while. Prior and during this I was gaming on my Xbox until I got fed up of paying the fees and started to game on my mac. I started gaming on OS 10 and then bootcamped over to Windows 7 because of the lack of games and poor support for gamepads. It was then that I realised I needed more processing power and VRAM. I looked into an eGPU and had my mind set but then I thought I would ask you if I could change the internal GPU. Then with the release of the new MacBook air's and the 4th gen Intel haswell CPU's I wondered if I would change the CPU too. Could you tell me if this is in any way possible or if I am just wasting my time. Thanks

Since the device is not user upgradeable, you will have to scoure the internet for the specifics of the logicboard, chipsets used and so on to figure out compatability and what would or would not work.  That is not general knowledge information, so you'll have to search and find it all yourself.  I'd also wager you'll end up spending as much or even more moeny than a new machine would be.
Honestly, to me, it would not be even remotely worth the effort.  Sell the current MBA and buy what you really want or need.  If PC gaming is really your big thing, I would honestly suggest getting a Windows native PC and not an Apple product in the first place (you'll get better gaming experience for less money).

  • How can I delete the "Other" on my MacBook Air HD?

I recently noticed that on my 128GB hardrive on my MacBook Air, there is only about 1.66GB left of space, and that 59.97GB is taken up by "Other". This is really frusturating seeing as I have no idea how to access these files and delete them. I think it might be local back ups from Time Machine, but I have backed up my hardrive to my external drive since i noticed the huge loss of space and I have since then turned off Time Machine but stiill the "Other" is still there. So could someone please help me in figuring out how to get rid of all this excess filler would be fantastic. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this out, its highly appreciated

Local snapshots from Time Machine are in the "backups category".  "Other" is considered a miscelaneous category.  It is made up of everything that doesn't fit in the other, more defined categories.  You don't want to delete everything in there as is contains some important things, such as the operating system, system files, etc.  You can download OmniDiscSweper to find large files.  Also, read these: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html, http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html, http://pondini.org/OSX/LionStorage.html

  • What are the benefits of upgrading the processor in a Macbook Air?

I am buying a Macbook Air 13" with 8gb of RAM and was what the benefits are of upgrading the processor from 1.8GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i5, to 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i7. I will mainly be using the computer for basic school work and some music recording with Ableton.

Benchmarking shows that the i7 upgrade is, on average about 15% faster than the i5. For some things faster, and some slower. That's not enough to notice in day to day use, after all, today's computers are so fast they spend most of their time waiting for their protoplasmic overlords to catch up. But for some uses, that extra boost would add up - say if you spend hours each day loading large digital photo files into Photoshop. It also adds a bit extra future proofing. If you have the cash it probably isn't a bad investment. If you have to set priorities, I think the extra RAM is more important than the CPU upgrade.

  • How can i cancel the cooling from my MacBook Air?

How can i cancel the cooling system from my MacBook Air? It is running full speed by the start ervery time, also when the MacBook Air is cold.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.

  • How do I install more memory to my macbook air

Does anyone know how to install more memory to my 2012 macbok air?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you are referring to RAM, you cannot. RAM is soldered onto the logic board.
If you are referring to the hard drive (or flash storage), you can replace it for a bigger one, but I do not recommend you to do it. Instead, buy an external drive, which is cheaper, does not void the warranty and it can be bigger than a new internal drive
