How do I use "X-UA-Compatible" tag?

I am trying to get browser compatibility built in on a website I am developing, and from what I have found out you use X-UA-Compatible to determine this. However what I cannot figure out is how I set the code. I need compatibility for IE 9+, for latest Chrome, and for latest Firefox.
I have seen meta tag such as <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="chrome=1"> but how do I create this for the above 3 browsers, and is there also any other code I need to include on the webpage. If there is any useful for explaining this meta tag, please include them.
Thanks.

I think you're confused about what X-UA does.  It does NOT ensure your site is compatible in all browsers.  It simply forces IE to behave a certain way.  The following example forces IE to use IE9 rendering mode if possible.
     <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9">
But what if your site visitor doesn't have IE9?  Then what?  A fallback would be this which says, use IE7 or IE9 but not IE8 mode:
     <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7, IE=9">
The bigger issue is if your site isn't performing well in all major browsers, chances are something's wrong with it.  Validate your code, fix errors & re-examine your design approach.

  • How do I use dynamic JSP vars in a form tag with implicit sessions?

I'm using iAS 6 SP4 and 'lite' sessions w/ sticky LB on Win2K for development and need to use a dynamic variable (via an = scriptlet) to specify the URL a form tag's ACTION method posts to. The implicit URL session encoding attempts to add the hidden input tags to the form but part of it is getting cut off. If I remove the dynamic var scriptlet from the form tag it works fine. How can I use dynamic vars and implicit URL session encoding?
    Here's my code sample:
    <FORM NAME='Create' METHOD='POST' ACTION='<%= servletRootStr %>CreateServlet' TARGET='_top'>
    Output is:
    <FORM NAME='Create' METHOD='POST' ACTION='http://my.server.com/NASApp/WebStuffApp/Create' TARGET='_top'>T NAME="GXHC_gx_session_id_" TYPE="HIDDEN" VALUE="GXLiteSessionID--8351372849698357580" ></INPUT><INPUT NAME="GXHC_GX_jst" TYPE="HIDDEN" VALUE="d692bc3d662d6164" ></INPUT>
Because the <INPUT> tagon the first session var is cut off, up to the T, the page obviously fails. Can this be fixed with a config setting, or is it a bug in iPlanet??

The problem I tried to solve was that I want the result from my service methods

Since the callback option doesn´t work I will try to poll the service.
Are there any other options for solving my problem??

    Andrej,
I guess you are trying to invoke a Webservice which defines a callback
    method
from a JSP, and want the JSP to handle the callback made by the webservice.
For a client to be able to handle a callback made by a Webservice, it
    has to be
    a web service in itself.
Even some web service tools do not support 'Solicit responses' and hence
    they
would not generate handlers for the callback methods by default. You
    can download
a callback WSDL in such cases and implement it on the client side. The
    server
side web service will then callback to that webservice.
The other option to callbacks is to use polling methods. This can be
    done from
any client such as Java client/ JSP client or a .NET client.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • How can i use tag library in the mvc?

    hello
in some tag libraris such as jakarta tag library and jrun tag library, there is database
access tag, it provide convenient function to access database from jsp page, but i wonder how can i use such a tag within MVC architecture.
as we know,in MVC architecture, all requests from the jsp pages are submit to the controller servlet, then the controller manipulate ejb to access database,it don't allow the database access from the jsp page.
who can tell me how can i combine the tag library with mvc architecture appropriately?
    thank you!

You can't! If you decide to limit the JSP to be part of the View component, obviously you should not include tags that directly access the database. If the strict MVC architecture is less important to you, then the tags can save coding time. It's your choice.

  • HT5988 I downloaded Mavericks and now my WD Smartware that I use for Time Machine is no longer compatible with this OSX version?  How do I make that unit compatible?  olefromca

I downloaded Mavericks and now my WD Smartware that I use for Time Machine is no longer compatible with this OSX version?  How do I make that unit compatible?  olefromca

I agree entirely, been messing with this since the upgrade to Mavericks but I didn't find it quite as easy as uninstalling the WD smartware as it still operates when you plug the drive back in - I think it gets loaded onto the drive and runs from within (?). The advice from WD was that time machine was faulty and I should contact Apple...thanks guys!
Anyway, for the OP's benefit, this is what I found:
    1. My problem was that time machine couldn't see any further back than before the Mavericks install, but if I opened up and interrogated the WD drive, the old backups were still there.
    2. When TM started doing new backups, it overwrote the ones that it could see, not the oldest ones on the drive. This indicated to
me that the WD software had somehow partitioned off the old backups and excluded that part of the drive from being overwritten. Of course, as the drive was practically full, it meant that any new backups wouldn't fit in the available space.....
    3. The only way I could find to resolve this was to use the disc utility to erase and repartition the external drive. This will obviously remove all of the old files and backups, but I was more concerned about keeping a current profile as backup rather than a load of stuff from months ago.
    4. Anyway, what happens after the eraseure has completed is that you get the WD icon on the desktop, and you're invited to install the software - this means the software has now been deleted. Juts don't reinstall it, just let TM do it's backup and all is well.
Usual disclaimers and warnings about keeping another copy of your system etc. obviously apply, and I know this is a radical move to delete all your old data but it worked for me. I guess I didn't appreciate that you could use the external drive without the software that came with it and just followed the screen guide.
I'm also aware that if you don't want to use TM to do a complete restore and only want to find one old version of a document, this is difficult. However, you can then install the WD software and find the file but you'll then have to do this all again.....

  • Elements 11 vs 13: how can I add a new place tag to my PSE13 database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology  that Elements 13 wants to impose.

    HI,
I have recently installed Elements 13 having used Elements 11.0 successfully to build a database of 30,000 plus images indexed by place, people, and photo date. Elements 11 allowed me to add new places which are meaningful to me but which are a complete mystery to the mapping technology of Elements 13. For example some years ago I lived in London in a road called Argyle Road. In elements 11 I could enter the place tag as Argyle Road. In Elements 13 I am required to locate Argyle Road on the map, but the map presupposes that the Argyle Road I am referring to is in Ealing in West London. It is not!
I now live in a place called Broadsands but the Elements 13 Map places this 0.5 miles away from what I would describe as Broadsands.
So the question: how can I add a new place tag to my database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology  that Elements 13 wants to impose.

Thank you for your quick response, BalusC. I really appreciate your answer.
Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.

  • How do you use image tags

How do you use Image tags. Thank you

    Hi John,
Have you seen this video? It describes how to apply default image tags to your pictures, and then describes how to create new, custom tags. Is there something more specific that you're wondering about? I'd love to help!

  • Tags...how do YOU use them?

I'm using Lightroom since first edition and also the tags. But I still find it strange that it should be such a tedious job to use them. I mean...when I think of a new tag I have to go over all of my 40,000 photographes to see if they fit the tag. That's why I generally stick to my 20 or so tags because else the database wouldn't be right. But more tags give more specific hits in a search. So I'm wondering how other users use tags and especially what do you do when you come up with a new tag?

I assign tags initially at import. I have some tags that belong in a hierarchy and some that sit outside (at the top level).
So, for travel stuff I have /travel/Malaysia/Kuching for example and this  contains some tags specific to Kuching (buildings which occur only there, say).
I also have another set /buildings/religious which contains tags like Buddhist Temple and Anglican Cathedral and so on.
When importing on the main (desktop) machine, I use the keyword list gadget.
When travelling I import to LR3 on a netbook (runs ok with 1GB on that!). Then I just type keywords into the box and I don't worry about hierarchy.
When I get home and import the netbook catalogue, I drag-and-drop the keywords that have appeared at the top level to where they really belong in the hierarchy.
It is at this stage that I try to remember to create collections as I go.
If I wasn't too lazy, I'd type the hierarchy at first import; I can never remember the syntax!
This may sound a bit weird but it works for me. If I shot 1000 per day instead of about 1000 per month, I'd have to get really organised.

How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac? I just bought this webcam on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJE0ISS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF 8&psc=1 and I want to use it with my mac. Is there an adapter or any software to make it compatible? Thanks.

Your amazon link states, in part, that this webcam is:
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7,Vista, XP, 2000
Use a Mac OS X Compatible Webcam like one of those shown in the linked article instead.
For best compatibility and security, also update your OS X Mavericks (10.9.2) to the current OS X version by restarting Mac and then downloading and installing OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).

The Pages app is also compatible with MS Word. Unlike some of the others mentioned, the document is actually stored on the iPad as opposed to 'the clouds'. Again, most of those mentioned are cut down versions of MS Word.
Stand back and look at this constructively; do you need to regularly access to the document from more than one computer/device without the need to keep amending your document on your computer and sending it to your iPad? If so, Documente to Go etc may be the best choice.

  • How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J ?

    Hi all tech experts,
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) and i have
installed Portal and Wireless and OracleAS Infrastructure on the same
    computer.
i tried all the solutions on this thread
Use of Xerces Parser in out application with Oracle App Server 9.0.4
    but still fighting.
I have also posted this query on OTN on following thread
How can I use a 3rd party XML parser such as xerces with OC4J?
    but no reply....
Please help me on this issue.
Since OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser which is xmlparserv2.jar.
i have read the following article which states that
OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser. The Oracle XML parser is fully JAXP 1.1 compatible and will serve the needs of applications which require JAXP functionality. This approach does not require the download, installation, and configuration of additional XML parsers.
The Oracle XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar) is configured to load as a system level library of OC4J through it's inclusion as an entry in the Class-Path entry of the oc4j.jar Manifest.mf file. This results in the Oracle XML parser being used for all common deployment and packaging situations. You are not permitted to modify the Manifest.mf file of oc4j.jar.
It must be noted that configuring OC4J to run with any additional XML parser or JDBC library is not a supported configuration. We do know customers who have managed to successfully replace the system level XML parser and the Oracle JDBC drivers that ship with the product, but we do not support this type of configuration due to the possibility of unexpected system behavior and system errors that might occur from replacing the tested and certified libraries.
If you absolutely must use an additional XML parser such as xerces, then you have to start OC4J such that the xerces.jar file is loaded at a level above the OC4J system classpath. This can be accomplished using the -Xbootclasspath flag of the JRE.
i have also run the following command
    java -Xbootclasspath/a:d:\xerces\xerces.jar -jar oc4j.jar
    but no success.
How could i utilize my jar's like xerces.jar and xalan.jar for parsing instead of OC4J in-built parser ?
All reply will be highly appreciated.
    Thnx in advance to all.

Looked in Help, Support, went to the local Genius bar for an hour, even arrainged a call from apple support ...
    Thanks

As Christopher says, it's a compilation. Different tracks are by different artists.
Setting the *Album Artist* field to *Various Artists* and setting *Part of a compilation* to Yes should be all that is required. Depending on your *Group compilations when browsing* setting ( I recommend On ) either should suffice but I suggest doing both.
Based on your commentary, I selected all the "O Brother" tracks, and checked the boxes for everything line that was blank in the Info and the Sort panes. Only exceptions were the album name and the disc number 1 of 1 and the artwork. I blanked and checked anything else.
That's not what I meant. When you select multiple tracks, only those values which +are already common+ to all tracks are displayed. Typically these will include Artist, though not with compilation albums, Album Artist, Album, No. of Tracks, Genre plus various sort fields. A blank value may indicate that different tracks have different values or it may be that the value is blank for all tracks. For the drop down values on the Options tab the value shown may not reflect the information in every tag. If values you expect to be common, such as Album Artist or the Album title are not displayed you can simply type these in and click OK. This will often be enough to group the album.
If you place a checkmark against the blank boxes and apply changes then you will clear those fields so you should only do this if that is the effect you want. Putting a checkmark next to an empty (representing different values) *Track No.* box, for example, will just clear the all the track numbers which is very rarely useful.
Adding then removing extra text is for a specific problem where despite all common values being identical across the tracks of the album iTunes seems to "remember" that it should see two albums. A typical example would be when an album originally listed as *Album CD1* & *Album CD2* is given disc numbers X of Y and then has the Album name changed to Album. I've seen iTunes merge all but one track into the new album, but insist on listing one remaining track separately, despite both albums having the same title. In this case I've found overtyping the album title again has no effect whereas changing it to AlbumX and then back to Album does what I was trying to achieve in the first place.
Don't forget that even properly organsied albums may still break up if you don't chose an album-friendly view. Sorting on the track name or track number columns can be useful in some circumstances but in general I revert to Album by Artist when browsing through my library.
