How do I view the songs on my iPod and how do I delete some songs and pictures that are on my iPod through the new iTunes

I just bought an iPod off of a friend andher ex put alot of terrible music and pictures on it and I want to delete some music but I can't see what is on The iPod through the iTunes so I can erase music. So all I wanna know is how do I see and erase the stuff on my iPod using iTunes on my lab top

If you have iTunes 11 on your laptop then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You should then be able to connect the iPod and it should show on that left-hand sidebar, and underneath it should be a Music section e.g. similar to :
Select that and the music should be shown on the right-hand side of iTunes, which you can then use to delete it.
You should be able to remove all content from the iPod directly on it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings, as any apps etc that are on it will be tied to the previous owner's id - that will also remove any photos from the iPod

This iphone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage.  Can you help me take the pictures off the icloud since I backed them up on my pc and would like to continue to use the storage in icloud to back up with.

you are correct. We are not understanding each other. I am attempting to provide a model for good habits for the OP. You have provided only a short term brief intervention which leaves a gaping hole for data to get lost in.
At no point did I say that merely backing up the device without saving the camera roll pictures would delete them.  Please stop inferring what you think I mean, you are confusing the issue. I said that doing so was SETTING UP the OP for data loss. This behavior encourages the OP to simply shut off their backup for their pictures. At no point did you instruct the OP to delete the old pictures from the device. The set up part is this... if they simply turn off the camera roll backup, and aren't implementing some form of management for the pictures on the device, then the pictures are only being actually saved, in a "permanent" manner when the OP backs up to itunes. That's all fine and good, but this also presumes that the OP will always do so on a regular basis, will never forget to do so even when there are a ton of new, very important pics to worry about.
My suggestion allows the OP to continue to use the automatic backup feature the way it was intended...automatically...for the information that has not yet been saved to the user's computer. The whole point here is that the OP can keep their pics AND still benefit from automatic backups without disabling the cameral roll from being backed up into the icloud.
Should this poster have walked into my fruit themed store, I would recommend that the OP do the following:
    1. back up the pics to the computer (done)
    2. REMOVE THE BACKED UP PICS FROM THE PHONE
    3. Learn about and utilize PHOTOSTREAM (including its limitations like no videos, only 1000 pics and only for 30 days) to make backing up and saving the photos from the phone easy and simple
    4. Explain how backup works and what it backs up
    5. Reassure the OP that even if they haven't backed up to itunes lately or have not bothered to properly save their pictures using another device and PHOTOSTREAM, that their oversight won't be catastrophic in circumstances where failure to do either of these things and being met with tragedy, does not necessarily mean that the OP is SOL. The automatic backup is another line of defense against data loss and can save the OP's precious memories, TEMPORARILY, until they can be transferred to another device for "permanent" storage. Why disable a line of defense?
I see it all the time. Full icloud, camera roll turned off, device not backed up to itunes nor pics saved for weeks because they were too busy, didn't feel like it or were just plain lazy.  Then, a wedding, birth, Halloween, Naughty time with the hubby, whatever it may be its an event with a LOT of pictures taken. Then, then next day or so, before the manual saves can happen, the device is damaged and needs to be replaced. There's no backup, nothing saved and the user loses ALL of the pics from the special event. IF they had properly managed their pics and only kept stuff on there that they really needed, deleted the rest after saving their pics elsewhere, and thus kept the backup size small enough to use, the backup would happen unattended overnight, and even though catastrophe still happens,  all the pics from the big event are recovered on a new device using the iCloud backup.
Do you see the difference?  I hope you do, and i hope so does the OP.  I have a great deal of experience here, take advantage of it or not. Accept my help or be stubborn about it, Your choice. I am finished posting into this thread now.  Take care and good luck with your data.

  • How do I delete items from menu bar  that are not part of the OS

How do I delete items from menu bar  that are not part of the OS

Perhaps you could be more specific, as it is a little difficult to answer your question without any details.  I can give you some general ideas though.
On my machine there are a few applications that have installed items into the menu bar - I'm assuming you are talking about the icons on the right hand side of the top bar. To remove those items, I would generally need to uninstall the program that created them. To do this varies a little from application to application.
Also, sometimes an application will have preferences that allow you choose if you want to display the item in the menu bar.
So, my general advice would be that you need to identify the application that placed the item there, and remove it from your computer.  If there is an uninstall program for that application, I would run that in the first instance.
If you don't actually wish to uninstall the application, you may need to click on the item or run the application and see if there is a setting to not show the menu bar item.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT1420 I have an old iphone 3G with 1900 songs and pictures that I want to put in my current itunes library, so they will sync in to my new iphone 5s.

I have an old iphone 3G with 1900 songs and pictures that I want to put in my current itunes library, so they will sync in to my new iphone 5s.  How can I transfer this info into my new library?
    Thanks

You can transfer the purchases you made on your old iPhone 3 by plugging it in to iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from your IPhone to the iTunes on your computer.  This will get music you purchased in iTunes, apps, etc.  (e.g., movies).
But for the rest you would need to restore a backup of your newly deceased computer.

  • How do I mange the apps that are on my cloud and not on my device. Second how do you delete things off my cloud that are old and taking up space

How do I manage my storage on my cloud. For example getting rid of old apps that are no longer on my device but still in the cloud

    Hi Bryan,
The only thing in iCloud are the backups that you have done for your device. Three backups are usually saved, with the oldest one deleted when you do the next one.
You may be getting iCloud confused with iTunes in the Cloud. All of your iTunes and App Store purchases are stored in iTunes in the Cloud so that you can re-download them at a later time if you wish. This is not iCloud and has no effect on your iCloud storage.
However, if you wish to manage what is backed up to iCloud, you can go to Settings>General>Usage and under the iCloud section click on Manage Storage. This will take you to a screen that shows what devices are backing up to iCloud and what settings you have turned on. If you click on a device, it will take you to a detailed screen that has a list of Apps and data that you are backing up. You can selectively turn them off or on. You can also delete older backups if you wish.
    Cheers,

  • How do I delete emails in Mail App that are no longer on the server?

    HI,
I have configured the Mail App on my brand new iPad to receive emails from my provider GMX.net. It is a POP3 account. The emails stay on the server until I fetch them with Outlook 2003 on my PC. After retrieving emails with Outlook they are deleted from the server. That is what I want. But the emails stay in the Mail App on my iPad. I also can’t delete emails with the iPad on the server.
    How can I do that?

If you are accessing emails from multiple devices, you are better off using the IMAP protocol. Then the devices sync with the server and they are all looking at the same information. With POP, you are going to get your emails spread about, some on Outlook, some on the iPad. It could get very confusing.
By default, the iPad will not delete from a POP server. Instructions for changing this are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228

  • How do I transfer just my edited pictures that are saving to the camera roll to iPhoto on my Mac?

    See above

Try using Image Capture in the Applications folder on your Mac and see if you have success with that. Same process - select the iPad at the top and the photos should appear in the window.
I have the original iPad and the photos that can be imported are those from the Saved Album. The Saved Album on the iPad original is the same thing as the Camera Roll on the iPad 2. Actually I thought only the photos from the camera roll or the saved album could be imported.
This may be helpful to you.

  • How do I delete videos off my ipad that are no longer on my computer

I have some TV shows that I want to delete off my ipad but I cannot seem to use the swipe to the left method. There is a cloud to the right of the button. I have stopped syncing them with my computer, in fact have deleted them from the computer.

If you are seeing a cloud icon, they are not actually on your device, just available to download. If you wish to turn this off: Settings app >  Videos > Show All Videos [turn OFF]. This is also available in for the Music and iBooks apps.

  • Does anyone know how to view the amount of songs you have and how much data it takes up in the new iTunes?

i have downloaded the new itunes on to my computer, but cant find where it says how many songs you have and how much data they will take up on my phone. thanks

Just a comment that the playlist size only shows in List View (not Grid or Artist view).

If I understand correctly what you're referring to, View menu -> Show Status Bar.
For some peculiar reason this option does not show up for me (11.0.1).  I do see the "status bar" (i.e. size) of playlists at the bottom of each, and I know that I've seen this setting, but this View option seems to have vanished!

    Vera,
Use View > View Options, and set 'Sort By" to "Manual Order."
Then you will be able to drag-n-drop songs up and down the list.

  • HT4915 Since downloading the latest iTunes, I am unable to delete songs from my iPhone 4s and songs I have purchased on iTunes are not available on my iPhone 4s. My computer no longer seems to recognise my iPhone or iPad. How do I work the new iTunes plea

I hate the new iTunes, I can't find anything and can't delete music from my iPhone4S. I can't find my iPhone or iPad when I plug them into my computer and I now have a whole lot of stuff I don't want on my phone. I have relaxation music on my iPad (for work) and other music on my iPhone. The new iTunes has now put everything on my iPhone and I can't get it off. I've disabled Match from my iPad to prevent the wrong music from appearing. Help please someone, I'm going insane.

In iTunes go to View>Show Sidebar.  This will make it look and behave more like previous versions.  Then connect your phone, click on it's name on the left side, go to the Music tab and make sure you haven't selected Sync your entire library.  You may want to check the songs in your library that you want on your phone, then go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and select Sync only checked songs and videos, then click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.  This should transfer only the checked songs and remove the rest.
